Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

@EmpressSuiko

YABU for directing all of your hate at an animal. Dogs aren’t the issue, it’s always down to the people who own them.

I don’t particularly like or associate with anyone who hates any animal, I just can not comprehend it!

I can't comprehend why the so-called dog owners have pets who suffer because of the way they've been bred.

The ones who have terrible headaches and fits because their brains are too big for their heads.

The ones with squashed noses who can't breathe properly.

Oh yes you as a dog owner can take the moral high ground - not.

I just want to go out without being hassled by dogs - especially in confined spaces like trains and cafes (and my office at work when I am there).

ColinTheKoala · 18/11/2021 21:28

so called dog LOVERS

Nyxly · 18/11/2021 21:36

I have to say I agree @ColinTheKoala people who buy poorly bred pups, imo are not animal lovers. Personally, I think they are more likely to be the ones not being responsible owners after the dogs have come home.

That said, both mine are rescues and potentially poorly bred (one is some sort or small poodle mix).

I guess when walking my unusually small cocker and poodle mix, I probably look like I don't care about their health either.

But in general I do agree. Both mine came to me very young because of the clambering for poorly bred pups and then have no clue when they have them. The poodle mix was sent for rehoming because they didn't realise they would need to brush her.

I can't call them dog or animal lovers.

BrilliantBetty · 18/11/2021 21:41

Don't mind dogs but it's insane just how many are pets and people don't have to prove they are fit owners.

A lot of owners I have witnessed are cruel to their dogs. Even if it's unintentional/ through not understanding. They aren't delivering what DD needs.

And dog shit all over our parks, pathways, pavements etc is horrible. It is too much these days... hefty fines and enforcement needed!!!

MammaLovesLeopard · 19/11/2021 03:40

Wouldnt you rather the dog poo was in a bag in a bin than on the pavement?!

I'm sick of joggers btw.
All Covidy-heavy breathing & sweating all over the place. Yuck! 🤢😷

ElmaJacob82 · 19/11/2021 04:42

My dog is a part of the family and he is very caring and obidient. He has never put us in any sort of trouble too.

tigerpants800 · 19/11/2021 06:30

@Kikkomam

There's piss everywhere in the countryside. An owl shat on my car on Monday.
Maybe since you've never been bothered by a dog when running- you're super human?
FOJN · 19/11/2021 06:46

Piss and shit is absolutely everywhere. I wonder how many people wash their garden furniture before use, it will have piss and shit from all sorts of wild life all over it but it just gets washed off by the rain. I bet they never visit the coast either where your risk of being shat on by a seagull or having your ice cream stolen is far higher than seeing a dog pissing on a table in a cafe.

You know a thread is not quite rational when, quite early on, someone proposes shooting half the dogs in the country.

Imposter1 · 19/11/2021 07:54

I agree! 100%.

Some people will say “it’s the owners fault” but I say some dogs are bad news too. There are certain breeds that are purchased by scumbags. How many times do we have to read about another dog attack. Always the same type of breed and same type of owner. “My staffie is a nanny dog, wouldn’t hurt a fly” Hmm

Dog poo everywhere. It’s disgusting. I had a dog jump up at me the other day too. I tutted. The owner confronted me. She was extremely aggressive and thought that the dog was ok to jump up at me “because it was on a lead”

We have dogs at the school gate despite the school asking that people don’t do that. Why? Because a pupil was attacked by a dog and had Lengthy facial reconstruction. She suffers PTSD as a result. But dog owners are too dumb to care.

Fed up of dogs off lead in the park. I think if you want to own a dog, there are two options:

  1. own a property large enough to walk your dog in garden. Let it shit there.

  2. walk your dog in a designated dog walking field or beach. Be prepared to tread in a lot of poo!

This way people that don’t love “fur babies” can get a break! And dog owners can be with like minded/selfish people.

Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 07:55

You sound mad.

Imposter1 · 19/11/2021 07:59

Oh and I saw the mumsnet comment about assistance dogs. Could not agree more that these are vital.

I have seen assistance dogs over the years and never ever seen one cause any issue with jumping up or being aggressive. Life would be perfect if we could just have essential dogs like that.

The majority of dogs are like that. Some aren't. Get over it!
Imposter1 · 19/11/2021 08:03

There are some people that I think should be banned from owning pets until their situation changes:

  • People in small properties without a garden
  • People that cannot financially afford a dog (how can you afford a vet bill or expensive dog food)
  • people that have been in the past fined for not picking up dog poo or having a dog off lead inappropriately
  • people that fail to understand that you can’t leave a dog unattended with children
Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 08:06

people that fail to understand that you can’t leave a dog unattended with children presumably you mean babies and toddlers? Dd15 is off school and self isolating in preperation for an operation. I'm off to work. The dogs are staying here to keep her company, as they are her companions and friends. Lots to be said for growing up in a household where animals are loved and valued.

Imposter1 · 19/11/2021 08:17

I would never leave a young baby alone with a dog.

But I believe that certain dogs should not be left alone with ANY children

Roadshiner · 19/11/2021 08:17

I grew up with dogs - working dogs on a farm. Happy, well exercised, loyal, cared for animals who interacted well with us humans.

They didn’t live in the house, none of our other animals did either.

I hate to see “pet” dogs, it’s so cruel and unnatural.

Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 08:18

Well you were brought up with working dogs, although everyone I know who has working dogs also has pet dogs and are very fond of all of them.

Imposter1 · 19/11/2021 08:21

And I agree that these designer dogs are cruel. They have medical issues. You can’t love dogs that much if you own a pug etc.

Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 08:21

Yes I agree with you there.
1997again · 19/11/2021 08:23

Love dogs and have no issues except cafes and pubs , ‘dog friendly cafes’ now seem to be full of yappy badly trained jumpy lockdown dogs and plus I’m allergic

Nyxly · 19/11/2021 08:24

people that have been in the past fined for not picking up dog poo or having a dog off lead inappropriately

Does this ever happen though? Does anyone actually get fined for this. If not they need to start doing it. There's no point having a punishment that's never enforced.

@Imposter1 I agree with that.

Its really not. Working dogs are bred to be working dogs. Many are bred to be pets and have been for a long time.

My latest rescue is a poodle Cross, a tiny one. Not a chance she would make it as a working dog. She really wouldn't. Not sure that putting dogs down (which would be the only other option) because they won't make it as a working dog is the answer really.

Although my working spaniel does work, it wouldn't happen with the little one.

Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 08:26

I do think growing up in a household with happy, well-looked after dogs can be really beneficial to children's well being. They learn they don't always come first, dog needs feeding and walking as a priority. They can learn empathy. They probably less likely to grow up with the hysterical attitude of some on here. And in our case they have friends and companions which is priceless. If a friendly dog runs up to another person who hates dogs - that's not going to undo the years of love and companionship between dog and owner, so apologies if you've had an iffy 5 minutes.

Imposter1 · 19/11/2021 08:27

So if I was in charge. Let’s get rid of designer dogs, and people that are unsuitable owners. People that are banned for failing to follow rules regarding leads and picking up poo.

That would leave far fewer dogs and of course assistance dogs. I think life would be better for everyone.

Nyxly · 19/11/2021 08:29

I am a dog lover. I would agree with all this, tbh.
Kikkomam · 19/11/2021 08:30

Not for me, I don't always pick up poo, I kick into hedge and often have dogs off lead. But as I barely see anyone when walking my dogs except a few other dogs who are also off lead with friendly owners, it's all good. I'll have dogs for the rest of my life, they are an enormous comfort and very good for MH.
