Fucking dogs!

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

YABU for directing all of your hate at an animal. Dogs aren’t the issue, it’s always down to the people who own them.

I don’t particularly like or associate with anyone who hates any animal, I just can not comprehend it!

Bazinga007 · 18/11/2021 15:33

Not a fan of dogs at all. Fed up of dog shit everywhere and if anybody put dog shit in my bin, the expect it to be put through your letterbox.

I feel sorry for your dog

On what basis would that be?
She is a rescue that was going to be PTS, she is trained, she has regular walks, good food, I pick up her poo, I don't let her approach strangers (which she does not try to do anyway), she is up to date on all jabs, dental work etc, I don't leave her alone for hours at a time, she has clothing to keep her warm, I have gone without food myself to make sure her needs are met. If that makes me "irresponsible" and you feel sorry for my dog, then your standards of what constitutes a good dog owner are just impossible and it is no wonder you look down on us with such derision. It is you I feel sorry for.

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 18/11/2021 15:41

@BlueTouchPaper

My dog doesn't howl when he's left. He sleeps just like he does when I am in

That's what my neighbour thinks. Every fucking Christmas Day and weekend is ruined.

I know this. We have a doggy cam.

@Kate3150 people with dogs just develop a big blind spots about their porches and think whatever they do is adorable. I had to scramble onto a car roof to escape a charging, snarling bull terrier and was told by the owner It was my fault she charged, because I was running away. No perspective whatsoever.

What about the nasty runny squelchy ones? And do you wash off the piss?

Dogs piss everywhere, cock their legs up on market stalls, outside cafes a foot from where people are sitting and it is vile.

The owners just seem oblivious.

QuiteQuaint · 18/11/2021 15:56

Reallyyyyy?

Yes. Every single one! My dogs never ever go off lead apart from on our land so it’s easy.

QuiteQuaint · 18/11/2021 16:06

My dogs have only ever had this after injections, or surgery, apart from a couple of times. We are really careful with what they eat, no different treats because one of our dogs has a medical condition.

We have a fair bit of our own land so they just go on that after injections or surgery. My dog had her injections 2 days ago and hasn’t been on a walk since as her belly is upset. On the two occasions it has happened on the street, we used baby wipes and water to clean it up.

My dogs piss on the grass only. Both girls, no leg cocking. The boy we had even weed ‘like a girl.’ He wasn’t even one year old when he died so I’ll never know if he would have started doing that.

QuiteQuaint · 18/11/2021 16:17

And when my partner went out without poo bags once, he phoned me to bring them whilst standing guard of the poo! 😂

There are good dogs owners like us out there! My friend actually had a really fear of dog poo and her kids going blind from it, it was so bad that she needed therapy and used to check her children’s shoes every time they went in the house, made them change their clothes etc. I would never not have picked poo up before this anyway, but knowing what she went through, severe anxiety, I am even more mindful of peoples difficulties!

Kikkomam · 18/11/2021 16:23

I definitely havebt picked up every poo my dogs have done. Just putting it out there. I take poo bags and am meticulous about picking up if we are out and about or they poo on a pavement or road, but that is incredibly rare as we live rurally and they both only like to poo in long grass or in hedges, not on paths. As I've said before I mostly kick it into the hedge, and when I say hedge I mean a big old country hedge in the middle of nowhere, not someone's garden hedge.

I'm not sure why I'm even bothering to type this as I can feel the Taliban gearing up to shriek at me.

'Stick and flick' (or booting it into a hedge) is allowed in the countryside. It is recommended rather than bagging it up.
lisaandalan · 18/11/2021 16:42

Poor dogs it's not their fault it's the owners, not all runners are great either some are too busy trying to break a record, a runner in the park smashed into my shoulder knocked me flying and didn't even stop.

Trixiefirecracker · 18/11/2021 16:45

The only reason the stick and flick method has been put forward is as an alternative to bagging dog poo is because no fucker was taking the bags home with them or putting them in the bins, just hanging them in bushes instead.

Trixiefirecracker · 18/11/2021 16:52

The problem with some dog owners ( and I was one up until recently) is they take it all very personally. If you are being a great and thoughtful dog owner that’s fabulous, well done you but unfortunately, there are so many dogs around now that the ones who are shitty dog owners give everyone else a bad name. I live in the Lakes. People come here because it’s so dog friendly. Everyone in my village has a dog, there are dogs bloody everywhere. No one seems to know it’s sensible to keep your dog on a lead through sheep fields, no one seems to want to pick up their dog’s poo. It’s really awful walking anywhere in summer as most places stink of dog shit. (Especially when everyone was holidaying in the same place.) if you don’t have your dog in a lead, you also don’t know where it is shitting.

No, it avoids single use plastics altogether.
