Fucking dogs!

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

@hotmeatymilk

If you think dogs and kids are equivalent you are insane Co-signing this statement, putting it on a T-shirt, writing it in dog poo smears on the grass
😁

@Blue4YOU

Some dogs get very distressed in cars. Or tied up outside (a pub, a shop etc.). And dog friendly pubs don’t- at least in my experience- let dogs roam around or pester people. But look - it’s the same as if I don’t like noise and air pollution in London (when I worked there I was so depressed from the travel)..answer do something about it. People don’t expect other people to be “fine” with unruly dogs, children, “well behaved” dogs, budgies or anything else. But it isn’t a people only world. Either go elsewhere, run indoors, ask people to keep their dogs away if you are running near them or whatever fucking sensible approach applies. You can hate dogs all you want. I hate lizards and I wouldn’t expect people not to have them as pets or make them extinct or something like that. You won’t catch me holidaying in Australia for said reason (and snakes!). But I would put up and shut up if I wanted to holiday there or visit someone. What’s with the nauseating self-entitlement of people who think they can run/cycle/free fall or whatever they want when they want but don’t want anything else to invade their Godlike view of their “right” to run where they know there will be dogs/children running free/enjoy their garden in a terrace where there are noisy children. Ever heard of compromise?
I think you make a fair point about compromise and tolerating what we don't like in our everyday lives as we all dislike things other love and a bit of tolerance goes a long way. The one issue though with dogs being inside public buildings like pubs and cafes, etc, is that its not really fair on people with allergies. Yes it would be ok if only a certain number of places allowed dogs in and people with allergies could just go elsewhere but a lot of places now do because its financially viable and those people are running out of options. Its not really fair on them either if they can't go to an inside public space anymore through no fault of their own. Its not just that they're a bit uncomfortable, exposure can trigger allergic asthma in some people. And 10-20% of the population are allergic to dogs so its not a small number impacted by any means. Sadly pet allergies in general are also on the increase.
Blue4YOU · 18/11/2021 13:26

Allergies are common - sure. I’m allergic to lots of (thankfully) non-airborne things.
If more pubs are letting dogs in (are they?) there will be plenty that don’t- they aren’t allowed around food anywhere near where I live.
But nuts are!!

trumpisagit · 18/11/2021 13:31

Fucking Humans!
Dogs are lovely in comparison, in my experience.
Not ok to be jumped on though, but again that's the human's fault.

SmellyOldOwls · 18/11/2021 13:32

Dog owners that let their dogs run around off lead and don't pick up their shit annoy me. Dirty fuckers. And the ones who think dog thieves are lurking around every corner to snatch their 8 year old Jack Russell cross Shitzu are a bit anxiety making.

Children and dogs are not the same but I'd think there's something a bit weird about anyone who professes to hate either. Unless your child has been injured by a dog or something I could understand that.

RedRobyn2021 · 18/11/2021 13:33

Dogs can't eat onions!?

Words · 18/11/2021 13:43

Children are far worse, OP. Far worse.

Nothing can compare with the piercing, ear-splitting screaming and shrieking of the poorly -trained juvenile human.

BettyfromBristol · 18/11/2021 13:52

Totally agree OP. I can't bear dogs, won't go in a house with one, won't go to a pub or restaurant that allows them (obvious exception for service dogs).

Kikkomam · 18/11/2021 14:16

@hotmeatymilk

Genuinely, why can’t you leave them outside? Understand not in the car on a very hot day, but why do they need to be inside apart from extreme weather conditions? Dogs don’t need pints or chips. (Yes yes technically I don’t need pints or chips etc.)
Try telling my labrador that.

Why an exception for service dogs? In your head, what is the difference?
AlternativePerspective · 18/11/2021 14:29

Something always confuses me about these threads which are full of people stating how they hate all dogs, how dogs shouldn’t be allowed anywhere/“what about the allergies” etc.

In a recent survey it came out that 78% of guide dog owners claim that their dogs’ work has been disrupted by public distractions. Public trying to stroke the dog, call it to them, grab its lead to try to drag it and the person it’s guidong across roads, and worst of all feeding it.

I have lost count of the numbers of people who have stroked my dogs, and when I correct the dog they say “it’s ok, I was just stroking him.” Err no it’s not ok.

or the bloke who when I was training with my most recent dog held out a biscuit to him in a cafe saying that he “had this one spare and thought the dog might like it.” The trainer was a lot quicker off the mark and told him no very quickly. Had he not been there the bloke may well have given the dog the biscuit before I’d realised.

Or the person who fed my first dog haribo and then became offended when I shouted at them.

The people who stroke my dogs at bus stops, in shops, on buses, while saying “I know I’m not allowed to stroke you, but … you’re just so lovely…” if you know you’re not allowed to stroke it, then don’t bloody stroke it.

FWIW I’m not opposed to people stroking my dog on occasion, as long as they ask first and I’m in a position to let them, i.e. standing waiting for a bus or in a hospital waiting room for instance.

But this attitude doesn’t tie in with the “I hate dogs” narrative that seems to constantly be being peddled on here.

Venn diagram of dog defenders and people who use the faintly hysterical 🤣 emoji is a circle…

But there are also loads of people on here saying they love dogs? There’s no narrative. It’s a fairly even split.

The people stroking and approaching your dog love dogs. The people who hate dogs are not stroking or approaching your dog. I’m as thick as mince and I can understand this.

I think there’s plenty of hysteria from the dog ‘attackers’ too. It all proves my point that humans are the issue and animals are lovely. 🤣

My Mum always says never to trust anyone who isn’t an animal lover - they’re dangerous! 🤣

I am an animal lover and I also don’t blame the dogs for the multiple run ins I have had. I always find it’s the attitude of the owners.
I take my toddler regularly for walks on a large open green, he is a bit unsure of dogs so when we play with his football we always go in a corner, kind of out the way.
Anyway the multiple times we have had dogs running towards us, jumping up the pram whilst toddler is in it, jumping up on me, having a scurry under the pram (where his snacks, drink is etc) and they don’t apologise. It’s always “he’s only being friendly”, “she loves being around children” etc… and I get that, but not all of us like it and i shouldn’t be made to feel like the bad guy when I’m minding my own business taking my little boy out for a kick about with his ball!
