Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

@Kikkomam

Is there an official Mumsnet drinking game - take a shot every time anyone uses the word "entitled".

I'd be shit faced by now.

Oooo - I love games!

ENTITLED

Have another.

HelplesslyHoping · 18/11/2021 10:55

I can't stand dogs. Noisy, stinky, and like with horses, their owners are mental. Even the most responsible dog owners are mental

Smorgasborb · 18/11/2021 11:00

Love dogs. All of them. I Despise kids of all ages shapes and sizes.

If you hate dogs as much as I hate kids I feel your pain. Especially when they are in pubs and restaurants.

junglejane66 · 18/11/2021 11:03

I think the joggers are at fault, they run past my dog and he gets all excited and chases them.

Jogger please stop running past dogs, its you causing the issues

mildredhubble48 · 18/11/2021 11:09

But people are entitled.

They literally can't stick anything beyond what they like, want, feel, think etc. I always think people like that must be very small minded.

I don't like certain things but I can appreciate that others might and I don't think they should cease to exist just because I personally don't rate them. Nobody is that important.

There's something fundamentally wrong with a brain that can think like this.

Therapy might help

Kikkomam · 18/11/2021 11:18

If by entitled do you mean I don't sit at home scared to do anything in case it might upset or offend someone else (which is pretty much anything on Mumsnet) and I walk my dogs happily without getting mortified if they go near another person then yes, massively entitled.

Smorgasborb · 18/11/2021 11:20

@Sayke why would I need therapy? I don't like kids. The OP doesn't like dogs. Do we all need therapy for the things we don't like?

Must have hated yourself/your childhood eh?

What a very strange statement

It's a very warped view to say you despise kids. Find them irritating, tiring, don't want to be around them - understandable. But to actively despise them means there is something fundamentally wrong with your psyche.

But of course you won't be able to see that and no doubt revel in being spesiul.

Kikkomam · 18/11/2021 11:23

Yes hating dogs I can kind of understand (dogs though! Awh)

But hating kids is weird

SpeckledlyHen · 18/11/2021 11:23

@Nyxly

How big were these 6 dogs that you had to 'clamber' over?

You sure they weren't horses?

Grin
Smorgasborb · 18/11/2021 11:26

@NanaPorsche I had a lovely childhood. Nevertheless I'm sure I was an annoying and obnoxious little shite most of the time.

Why is it a strange statement to say you hate kids? Seriously. Theres a lot of us who feel the same way.

Suzi888 · 18/11/2021 11:27

Feel much the same way about humans - fair play

Sayke · 18/11/2021 11:28

I don't actually hate dogs, at all.

They are cute and loyal and companionable and I totally understand why people have them.

I don't like that the dog population has exploded and just about everyone has one these days, or that they are allowed in to shops and most cafes.

Previously it was mostly people who had thought carefully about how a dog would fit in to their lives who had them. People who devoted time to training.

There were still some who let the side down but most dog owners I knew took it seriously.

Now there are more dogs there are more irresponsible owners and it is really getting to be a problem for people who don't want to have to deal with the fallout.

What a completely ridiculous statement. To be honest you sound like mental one..

It really is weird.

Kinda sociopathic

Seriously, therapy is a good idea

NanaPorsche · 18/11/2021 11:38

@Smorgasborb

You didn't say you hated kids - you said you despise them. That's quite a strong overreaction.

LivesinLondon2000 · 18/11/2021 11:44

@Sayke
I totally agree with your post. Before when people got a dog it was (usually) a carefully considered decision. Most people I knew were definitely of the ‘a dog is not just for Christmas’ mindset and didn’t rush into it.
Then in lockdown everyone got puppies just because that’s what everyone else was doing like a sort of mass FOMO. To be fair, most people I know who got a lockdown puppy have put in the effort even when it was way more work than they expected. But I know plenty of people who just hadn’t thought through how it would work long term not just going back to work but just how many places you actually can’t bring your dog (can’t just nip into the school office with your dog, food shopping is complicated, dentist appts etc) and are pretty fed up with it.
Personally living in a fairly built up area in London I am just overwhelmed by the amount of dogs everywhere - at the school gates jumping up onto me, in the park, when I go running. They’re usually not a problem & under control but the sheer number of them feels a bit oppressive somehow.

LadyCleathStuart · 18/11/2021 11:48

I love dogs and have two but don't let them run riot. They are animals.

The despising kids thing is strange because they can't help being kids - replace 'kids' with another characteristic that someone can't help and suddenly it isn't so acceptable is it - women, gay people, elderly people, black people etc.

The fact that children are so often lumped into these conversations about dogs makes it seem that people view them as the possessions of others and not humans in their own right.

Well put

It oozes lack of empathy

CormoranStrike · 18/11/2021 11:52

I took exception to the “entitled dog owners” comment.

I’m a g responsible dog owner. I also disliked endogamy who jump and bark unchecked, mine try, and I constantly try retraining.

Nobody likes piles of dog shit.

Cafes and bars that let dogs in - yep, if I was allergic that would bug me, but I would just shop elsewhere.

My dog helps me stop going 'mental'. She has saved my life.
