Fucking dogs!

Dogscanteatonions · 17/11/2021 20:41

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

@QuiteQuaint

Isn't that what Mumsnet is for? Airing views in a democratic way?

Or is there a monopoly on dog owning?

The thread is against dogs - if you're not against dogs and are too delicate with regards to opposing views, why don't you just scroll on by and go on a dog lovers thread?

Kikkomam · 18/11/2021 09:31

No, the opposing view is that dogs are great and lots of posters on here are possibly neurotic. Or can't you cope with the opposing view?

NanaPorsche · 18/11/2021 09:34

@hotmeatymilk

Talking about 'ringfence' - there was a very indignant, foot-stamping post on our local social media group about dog owners paying a fee to be the only person to walk their animals in an enclosed, 'safe' field. (Which should be the only places animals are allowed to exercise.)

The poster was complaining about the huge, disgusting amounts of dog shite in the field. You couldn't make it up. 😬

Du-uh. 🙄

I’m alright here, thanks. Wink Keep moaning away, it’s entertaining.

I do love dogs. I can’t stand bad owners.

HTH 😇

NanaPorsche · 18/11/2021 09:37

I'm sure dogs are fantastic when they are trained and well cared for.

Most aren't.

If they were, there wouldn't be lots of complaints.

NanaPorsche · 18/11/2021 09:38

@QuiteQuaint

I don't need help thank you.

Dog lovers obviously require supervision as they can't pick shit up.

hotmeatymilk · 18/11/2021 09:41

Campaign for that then. 🤷🏻‍♀️ Moaning on here does fuck all.
Grin Wherever have I indicated that I think “moaning on Mumsnet” does anything other than idle away the hours until the sweet release of death – I thought we were all here to howl into the collective void and avoid doing any work

QuiteQuaint · 18/11/2021 09:44

NanaPorsche

I pick my dogs shit up.

Your posts are ridiculous, but funny so I don’t want them to stop. 🙃🤪

Dogscanteatonions · 18/11/2021 09:50

Well what did I say about entitled dog owners?

Thankfully there are quite a few dog owners on this thread that understand and are equally pissed off with bad owners but the entitlement of some here is horrendous.

So far on this thread I've been told I should not go running in places where dogs might be - wtf!

I've been told it's my fault for slowing to a walk when out running. I do this because I've been chased by dogs in the past whilst their owners hopelessly try to recall their dogs. I now walk past them and so often I still have owners unable to recall their dogs.

I've had comments insinuating I'm exaggerating or indeed making things up - I assure you I'm not and you can see plenty of other posters have had same problems.

I've been told I must have anger issues - I'm fine thanks very much I'm just fucking fed up with dogs.

I've been told I'm a narcissist for daring to run outdoors and complain about being harassed by dogs because - y'know live and let live. 🙄

Posters have said they never see dogshit and it's always picked up - plenty of others have commented that they're utterly fed up of all the dog shit.

I know it's the owners obviously but the end result is plenty of people are fed up of dogs.

I'm not scared of dogs, I grew up with guard dogs, I used to love them. Now they are a fucking pest.

But it sounds like you want real changes where people have more places to go that dogs aren’t allowed. Even as a dog owner I think that’s fair, so why not campaign for it. I don’t like dogs running around on beaches when they’re busy, I don’t think they need to be in so many pubs and cafes. I can understand that some people fear dogs or have allergies or whatever.

NanaPorsche · 18/11/2021 09:54

Some people don't like the truth.

Dogs shit in public places where others walk - fact. (Some people might actually start to enjoy walking if it wasn't for the fact they can't really relax because they're on the constant lookout for shit heaps.)

It's not picked up - fact.

All dog owners should have to pay a huge fee in order for the council to employ people to clean up after their animals because it's blatantly clear that owners aren't able to (for some reason).

If there wasn't a dog shit problem - people wouldn't mention it?

Why don't you understand?

Saying you pick your dog shit up - whoop de bloody doo!

Others don't - fact.

ColinTheKoala · 18/11/2021 09:54

Ok well here's scenario. My colleague in the office today and "needed" to take his dog (into London, on the train, about a 45 minute journey - no that it's actually relevant, but to set the scene).

He emailed the team to ask who is in the office today and if someone can look after his dog while he goes to a face to face meeting.

The dog lovers will be saying "what's the problem". The problem comes if I am in the office and he comes to me to ask me if I can have the dog in my office. I wouldn't want it. But it would be career limiting to say no because "everyone" loves dogs and I would be considered weird. I should not be put in that position - fortunately I am not in the office today but it could happen again. Dogs should be at home or in doggy day care.

ColinTheKoala · 18/11/2021 09:59

What about guide dogs, deaf dogs, therapy dogs, dogs that save humans from land mines, that find missing people and criminals, dogs that detect fits, cancer, Covid. Dogs are amazing and you should retitle your thread 'Fucking humans

Nothing wrong with working dogs. Most dogs were bred for a purpose and now they're kept as pets and struggle not to do the thing they were bred for, eg terriers chasing things. And so are pests if not well trained.

ColinTheKoala · 18/11/2021 10:00

Several national trust properties and gardens, English heritage sites, botanical gardens, many beaches are either no dogs for summer or have no dog sections, wetland sites, most RSPB reserves etc etc etc

they are but a lot of entitled dog owners take their dogs onto beaches or into bluebell woods whatever the signs say and just snigger if you point out that dogs should either be on leads or not there at all

My dogs come to the office with me. Other staff bring theirs. It's nice. If you can't handle friendly dogs then working here wouldn't be right for you - we mention it at interview.
FrownsAndDimples · 18/11/2021 10:01

Totally with you OP. Can't stand dogs and the fog shit everywhere.

Kikkomam · 18/11/2021 10:02

Is there an official Mumsnet drinking game - take a shot every time anyone uses the word "entitled".

I'd be shit faced by now.

QuiteQuaint · 18/11/2021 10:02

Why should I pay because others aren’t responsible? Councils need to actually fine people who don’t pick up their dogs poo, instead of just threatening to.
I actually reported someone who never picked up their dogs poo. The council said there’s nothing they could do... why do they bother to threaten fines then?
I’ve also sarcastically said ‘oh, have you forgot your poo bags, here you go, I have plenty’ and given dog owners a bag when I’ve seen them ready to move on without picking their dogs poo up. So no, I won’t be paying just for having a dog.

Kikkomam · 18/11/2021 10:03

I should not be put in that position - fortunately I am not in the office today

So you literally have nothing to worry about

QuiteQuaint · 18/11/2021 10:06

ColinTheKoala

I agree. I love dogs, but I don’t think they should be in the workplace. Some people would be uncomfortable and the dogs wouldn’t be loving it in most cases. If you work away from home, you get dog walkers, sitters or daycare for them.

whataboutbob · 18/11/2021 10:07

Very topically, I spotted a dog turd bag in my recycling in this morning. It had poo inside and out. What a lovely job it was to remove it and put it in the nearest street bin.

Yes that's minging, but not the dog's fault.
Berkeys · 18/11/2021 10:24

Dogs are great! Better than most people.

I feel like you about humans, honestly! Our species is awful. Selfish bald cruel monkeys trashing the only life support system we (and all life on this planet) have. For what?

Doona · 18/11/2021 10:25

Turns out that dog ownership has really jumped. Not just our imagination.

Could be lockdown, everyone says so, but what about those puppy farming laws coming in - shouldn't there be less dogs now?

Selfish bald cruel whaaaaat?

I'm reporting this because it's racist.

I think you'll find that humanity is generous and kind - we look after others less fortunate.

Commenting on leaving dog dirt behind, which is illegal by the way, does not turn people into monsters and if you love animals so much - go live in a zoo.
