Fucking dogs!

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)

Totally understand, and I adore dogs, have them, take on rescues etc. People not having their dogs under control, not picking up shit and generally not looking after their dogs properly is (obviously) the problem. And too many clueless people having dogs, now more than ever 😢. And taking them to the pub - there is nothing beneficial to your dog in so doing!! 🐾

@ColinTheKoala

Ok well here's scenario. My colleague in the office today and "needed" to take his dog (into London, on the train, about a 45 minute journey - no that it's actually relevant, but to set the scene).

He emailed the team to ask who is in the office today and if someone can look after his dog while he goes to a face to face meeting.

The dog lovers will be saying "what's the problem". The problem comes if I am in the office and he comes to me to ask me if I can have the dog in my office. I wouldn't want it. But it would be career limiting to say no because "everyone" loves dogs and I would be considered weird. I should not be put in that position - fortunately I am not in the office today but it could happen again. Dogs should be at home or in doggy day care.

Wow, your problem is your employer and colleagues.

No one should get to rock up to the office, to do a face to face meeting and be in a position to not be able to do it. If a colleague saying 'no' to taking on extra work, shouldn't be career limiting.

It shouldn't be career limiting to say 'no I am not looking after your dog'.

If it is, then your employer is shocking.

Fwiw, I love dogs. I have dogs. I wouldn't be looking after anyone else's dog in the office.

I know, a few people at work who don't like dogs. Not stopped any of their careers.

I don't think people are shocked that people don't like dogs. I think they are shocked at people hating them.

I don't like cats, some people may raise an eyebrow. If I absolutely hated them and made it known, I would guess people who be shocked at the level of hatred.

I genuinely love (most dogs) and Foster them. But I really hate shit pet owners.

All the pubs near me welcome dogs (rural). So you can go for a dog walk then get a pint. Otherwise you'd have to tie dog outside or in the car or just not go in, and pubs actively want customers.

Which means that those who don't want to be near dogs can't go in, instead.

Obviously the dog pound is worth more than the non-dog pound, sadly.

And to the poster above, my colleagues are anything but awful but they practically all have dogs (my immediate boss has a cat, thank goodness) so they would not understand if I said I wouldn't have one in my office.

hotmeatymilk · 18/11/2021 12:33

Genuinely, why can’t you leave them outside? Understand not in the car on a very hot day, but why do they need to be inside apart from extreme weather conditions? Dogs don’t need pints or chips. (Yes yes technically I don’t need pints or chips etc.)

ColinTheKoala · 18/11/2021 12:35

Cafes and bars that let dogs in - yep, if I was allergic that would bug me, but I would just shop elsewhere

yes but there are few alternatives these days. Everywhere lets dogs in. I gave the example of my local garden centre (which is more of an indoor shopping centre with a few plants) and Crew Clothing. Why does anyone need to take their dog to those? If you have an actual allergy you can't go into lots of places and those of us who don't like, or are actively scared of, dogs, have to do something that makes us uncomfortable every time we go out. And all because they are "fur babies" and can't be left at home for an hour or so.

Some dogs get very distressed in cars. Or tied up outside (a pub, a shop etc.).
And dog friendly pubs don’t- at least in my experience- let dogs roam around or pester people.
But look - it’s the same as if I don’t like noise and air pollution in London (when I worked there I was so depressed from the travel)..answer do something about it.
People don’t expect other people to be “fine” with unruly dogs, children, “well behaved” dogs, budgies or anything else. But it isn’t a people only world. Either go elsewhere, run indoors, ask people to keep their dogs away if you are running near them or whatever fucking sensible approach applies.
You can hate dogs all you want. I hate lizards and I wouldn’t expect people not to have them as pets or make them extinct or something like that. You won’t catch me holidaying in Australia for said reason (and snakes!). But I would put up and shut up if I wanted to holiday there or visit someone.
What’s with the nauseating self-entitlement of people who think they can run/cycle/free fall or whatever they want when they want but don’t want anything else to invade their Godlike view of their “right” to run where they know there will be dogs/children running free/enjoy their garden in a terrace where there are noisy children.
Ever heard of compromise?

I think this what most places look at who is likely to come in and what they would like.

They know having dogs in there will put some people off. So they look at the demographic of people they get in.

I am sure the business owners feel its more beneficial to their businesses to allow dogs in and lose the odd customer who doesn't like dogs.

I am not a fan of dogs in pubs and restaurants. But, if a business chooses to allow them, that's upto them. Its not like anyone has a right to go in a certain pub.

A business owner is going to do what's best for them. If it makes financial sense to let dogs in, that's what they will do.

I bet most are blokes telling their wives they are walking the dog, and spend hours in the pub instead Grin

Or it could be a widower who wants to enjoy a pint and not leave his only companion at home.

Because people steal dogs And dogs like company And they like chips that fall off the table And they like a nice lie down somewhere warm after a long walk

I’d like the title of this thread changed as it conjures up an unsavoury notion and occasionally my dog looks over my shoulder whilst I’m reading or commentating and I wouldn’t want him to think I had any funny ideas about him!

Fucking dogs!
ItsSunnyOutside · 18/11/2021 12:48

I love dogs...but I really dislike dog owners who don't control their dogs in public, let them off a leash when they shouldn't and don't pick up their dogs mess, that kind of thing.

I don't mind when dogs come up to me and dc when we are out, we always say hello.. but we were at the beach once, sat down on our towels when someones dog came clambering over, sniffing all our food , pushing the food around, walking all over our belongings, going right up to my toddlers face, I kept {gently} pushing the dog away and saying NO, hoping the owners would call him/her over...but no, they were just walking by, looking, the woman was laughing but the man, must have seen my face, as by this point , the dog had been doing this for a good minute and a half, he then called the dog over, but didn't make an attempt to come and fetch the dog. Those are the kind of dog owners I don't like. Not cool.

Ha, one of the more vocal dog hating commenters said she loved the title. Perhaps she is not as dog hating as she makes out Wink
vickyp0llard · 18/11/2021 13:00

I can't stand dogs. I'm allergic, I'm scared of them, I don't like the constant barking and I'm sick of being jumped on with muddy paws and slobber (the slobber gives me a rash) while the owner says "oh don't worry they're just being friendly". Yeah right! I wish they were banned but we can't have everything we want in life, so I just steer clear of them as much as I can.

vickyp0llard · 18/11/2021 13:05

Oh and I don't like kids either. Classic Mumsnet - anytime anyone has an opinion different to you, it means they need to go to therapy.

Mouseonmychair · 18/11/2021 13:10

@hotmeatymilk

No one should be having kids either. Why do threads about dogs always turn into a children/dogs equivalency? This is a thread about dogs, it’s very clear from the title and OP. Perhaps go back and read it again.
Because there is equivalency and if you started a thread on here saying "fucking kids" and saying how you hate them the thread would be gone.
Sayke · 18/11/2021 13:11

If you think dogs and kids are equivalent you are insane

Nothing wrong with not liking kids, I'm not particularly fond of them, especially other people's.

But PP said they despise kids

That's sociopathic, weird, twisted etc etc

vickyp0llard · 18/11/2021 13:14

TBF they're both annoying, often out of control, loud, dirty and I don't want either of them in my house

bozzabollix · 18/11/2021 13:16

I hate miserable fuckers on mumsnet, we all have our crosses to bear.

vickyp0llard · 18/11/2021 13:16

It's probably just a figure of speech - I'd take despise to mean that you couldn't stand being around them, not that you'd wish harm on them

It's not though. It's loaded, pointed language.

It's a well known trope.
