Fucking dogs!

I am so fucking done with dogs

I am sick of being jumped all over by dogs when I'm out running. I always slow to a walk when a dog approaches, I stand still if they seem aggressive. I have lost count of how many dogs that have jumped up on me and have made me muddy, left scratches from their nails on my arms and thighs
or ripped/pulled my clothing. I'm actually very lucky never to have been bitten.
.
I am so fucking fed up of avoiding piles of dog shit - on some of the routes I run or walk I can count up to a dozen piles just left on the path.

I am so fucking fed up of my neighbour's dogs barking. I can't complain as they are the kind of people who will make my life hell but on the regular occasions they are out they bark CONSTANTLY. Sometimes all night long.

I am fed up of having to pass a neighbour's house where they let their dog shit in the front garden and don't clear out for days and days. I walk past daily and it stinks to high heaven.

I am fucking fed up of dogs in cafes, pubs and restaurants. I, like many people are allergic and it leaves me sneezing for hours and hours. One pub we were in you literally had to clamber over 6 dogs to get to the bar.

Now today on here there are loads of people saying they think it's ok to put their dog shit in someone else's bin.

This is even without the terrible dog attacks that happen.

I know this will rile entitled dog owners but seriously has anyone else just fucking had enough?

(Ps my current username came from a thread where a poster's dinner of cottage pie had been given to the dog where everyone piled on to say dogs can't eat onions. I don't have a dog 🤣)
@Mydogmylife totally the opposite though, lots of calm responsible dog owners can see there are a lot of bad dog owners out there and there is a problem with badly behaved dogs. I think it’s the entitled ones who get up in arms about anything negative surrounding dogs.
Exactly my point ! Resposible dog owners I think just get a bit annoyed at being lumped together with those who don't train, pick up etc

@XenoBitch
@AllThingsServeTheBeam
I hear you both ! It's just that I've seen dogs sniff around other dog's back end (sorry if it's tmi) and then their owners allow them to lick their faces! I was once at a friend's house where her dog ran in & licked the baby's face when she was changing the baby's nappy on the floor. I can't tell you how strong the urge was to scoop the baby up & wash her little face, but had to step back, as it wasn't my place to say anything, it wasn't my home or family. As I said on an earlier post, it's live and let live regarding dogs.

Dogs here seem to be really badly behaved compared to my home country. Here I regularly get launched at/jumped on by dogs on walking tracks. I don’t understand the difference, why it happens here so much.

He's also a nip screw and would always clean them as he knew I would buy new shoes to replace them fairly quickly. 😬

My husband has binned shoes while we've been out, that have been caked in dog shit. They were beyond retrieval. Keeps wellies in the car so had to wear them in the pub.

Ughhh - can't think of anything worse.

YANBU. I used to like dogs but nowadays they're a scourge. I think they became status symbols and people felt they had to get them.

I also agree with the title of the thread OP!

Excellent choice of words.

RobinPenguins · 18/11/2021 00:16

Yeah there are too many now. I actually find getting a dog quite an antisocial act now.

Good observation - dogs in this country generally are badly behaved.

I agree.

It's the owners .....

BlueTouchPaper · 18/11/2021 00:22

My dog doesn't howl when he's left. He sleeps just like he does when I am in

That's what my neighbour thinks. Every fucking Christmas Day and weekend is ruined.

CiaoEB · 18/11/2021 00:25

I think once people started trying to compare dogs to children, insisting they feel a vast range of human emotions because their owner desperately wants them to, was the point of no return. Facebook posts insisting they don’t let their dog eat meat, “because mummy is vegan and they want to be like mummy too” a close second.

Yes - NDN got a dog a few months ago. Both of them work full time. The dog sounds in pain when they go out.

How would you know if your dog is howling when you work full time?

Unless you have a nanny cam - then you would have irrefutable proof that your bloody nuisance dog howls all day.

NanaPorsche · 18/11/2021 00:27

@CiaoEB

🤣

RainbowTomte · 18/11/2021 00:41

I can't stand dogs, or dog people.
Actually I think this is a common opinion, but if we dare voice it in public, we are looked at like we are evil for not liking dogs. I wish more people would speak up IRL. Very often when I tell people I don't like dogs, they breathe a sigh of relief and say they don't either. But most won't start that conversation.

They are filthy, irritating, energy-sapping mutants, and if we could designate a town in every county to be the only one where dog people were allowed to live, that would be a start. Ideally I'd ban them completely.

youtube.com/channel/UCWQNwKv6ExM62Go1lPSrd_A is a great channel explaining very well how absurd the human obsession with dogs is, how brainwashed those people are, how unhygienic dogs are, and what a disaster they (and cats) are to the environment/eco-system.

I am frightened of dogs since a bad experience as a child. I have found the dog situation even worse since everyone and their mother decided to get a dog during Lockdown. Most people seem to have decided on owning these huge mastiff type things over which they have absolutely no control over. The dogs aren't trained because the owner knows zero about their pet. Don't start me on the ones with extended leads, Id ban those bl*y things. I came across a stupid person, two dogs both on these extended leads taking up the whole of the path. Where am I meant to walk? I suppose the dog owner thought I was Peter Pan and would just fly over their heads. The selfishness and thoughtless behaviour is unreal.

Schnauze · 18/11/2021 01:00

It's owners not the dogs.

I always feel sorry that the dog that sniffed out Sarah Everard's body wasn't acknowledged. How long would it have taken humans to find it - I read some little comfort the family got was knowing that she was dead before she was burned.

What about guide dogs, deaf dogs, therapy dogs, dogs that save humans from land mines, that find missing people and criminals, dogs that detect fits, cancer, Covid. Dogs are amazing and you should retitle your thread 'Fucking humans'.

TowerOfGiraffes · 18/11/2021 01:13

In the last year both of my preschoolers have been attacked by two different dogs, while minding their own business over 30m away before these dogs ran at them. Owners seemingly oblivious and unapologetic both times.

I am at the point now of thinking let them run free on your own land and they should be on leads everywhere else. The rest of us do not know how "safe" they are or if they are trained, why should this worry be inflicted on everyone else in public spaces?

As for dogs in restaurants and pubs etc, absolutely should not happen and I won't go to any that allow it.

TowerOfGiraffes · 18/11/2021 01:16

@Bingbong21

Bad owners are rife post lockdown.

My 6 mo pup jumped on a jogger a few weeks back, was mortified so went back on the lead to rebuild to being off. If I see a jogger coming he goes straight back on and I make sure to pick routes I know I would see a jogger with plenty of time. Will gradually start long lining him with joggers to train him reliably.

Point is that yes these things do sometimes happen but as a responsible owner it should never be allowed to happen again.

Why should everyone else put up with this "sometimes happening" though? Train the dog on your own property. There is no reason that people - especially children - should be put at risk because you're in the process of training an animal. If it cannot be reliably controlled already it should NOT be off a lead in a public space. Or in a public space at all.
