I really miss the Phileas Fogg snacks from around the 90s, particularly Punjab Puri and Mignon Morceaux… god they were good. Also Frisps if anyone remembers them. And NikNaks before they went dry and biscuity. Anyone else?

pollywollydoodler · 07/11/2021 06:52

Another one for Cabana bars...

Cadburys Marvellous Creations with the biscuits in..they stopped this one and continued the useless popping candy one-unbelievable!

In the 70s we used to have a dessert called Romantica. It was covered in tiny chocolate balls.I can't remember properly but I think it had ice cream and cake inside. The balls were the standout feature.

Not mintola @Cheeseandlobster

@Thatsplentyjack Iceland sell crispy pancakes, not the chicken & bacon one though

Steakwiches OMG! This really thin bit of beef that cooked in a minute. I’m veggie but I can still remember the (greasy) taste of them.

I miss Mexican wagon wheels from kwiksave. They were a big, sharing bag, of crisps.

HazelandChacha · 07/11/2021 07:16

@beachtosunset they must still make cafe Hag, it’s for sale on eBay for £££, also on Amazon but out of stock.

Regarding Mignion Morceaux, I found Old El Paso tortilla STRIPS with cheese to be quite similar in taste and texture, although half the thickness.

Cheese Buttons ( same sort of thing)
M&S salmon and cucumber cottage cheese.. I used to have it several days a week for lunch at work in the 80s

Old school smarties, with their vibrant colours and E numbers!
Chocolate doesn't taste how it used to when I was younger especially Cadbury's.

Laska2Meryls · 07/11/2021 08:07

Salt and vinegar square crisps were like that also.. Do they still do those?

Bluesheep8 · 07/11/2021 08:07

Those tinned treacle sponge puddings that you cooked in a pan full of boiling water. They had a superb flavour.

You can still get these in supermarkets.

I miss the reduced calorie jacket potato and butter flavour crisps from M & S

Breathmiller · 07/11/2021 08:08

I dream of Phileas Fogg Mignon Morceaux. They were amazing .

I am vegan (which I realise is by choice) and also gluten free (not by choice) and I dream on almond croissants. My adult daughter made me ones last year and they were sooooo good. But I still dream of soft almond shop bought almond croissants

DukkaDukka · 07/11/2021 08:10

Yes!!! We found them in the summer. Dh had his friend and his son around and we started talking about them. Then we got them out and all sat around eating them like they were food from the Gods. It was so funny.
Nannewnannew · 07/11/2021 08:13

@Thatsplentyjack

My mum used to buy these wee tubs of frozen strawberry mousse. No idea where from, andshe claims she can't remember, but they were so good.

Also crispy pancakes. Why would they stop making them?!

We used to buy those frozen mousse desserts from a frozen food shop called ‘Cordon Bleu’ I think they were in a pack of 12. 😋
Bananalanacake · 07/11/2021 08:15

In the 80s small wafery balls full of fake cheese, don't know their name.

DroopyClematis · 07/11/2021 08:24

Terry's Neapolitan chocolates

Mint Cracknell

Proper Findus Crispy Panvakes ( the ones you get now are truly an abomination.

muldersspeedos · 07/11/2021 08:27

Zoom ice lollies.

Trebor toffee bonbons.

I loved Mighty White bread as a teen so nice to see it mentioned upthread.

Ribera-the proper one without sweeteners.

Five Alive drink

Golden Graham's

Andoffwego · 07/11/2021 08:30

Mignon Morceaux were the best snacks! I loved the Phileas Fogg range. My dad used to buy a packet with the food shop when I was about 10-13 some weeks and I remember their tortilla chips were the first I’d ever tried.

Cadbury Roses chocolates before the recipe changed and they became disgusting and inedible. They used to be gorgeous.

Spira bars and Tasters (little round, shiny Cadbury balls in a purple packet)

This one is a bit specific: in the early 90s you could buy DIY hamburger kits in the meat section of most supermarkets. They consisted of two huge raw burgers that you’d put under the grill, two big burger buns, two slices of that fake American cheese and a mini plastic bottle of burger relish. OMG they were the best burgers ever. It wasn’t a cheapo thing - the meat was decent quality. I wish you could still get them now. They used to be our Saturday lunchtime treat when I was in my Kate childhood/early teens.

Andoffwego · 07/11/2021 08:32

Also yes to Zoom ice lollies. Why were they ever discontinued? They were a total classic abs really popular.

Andoffwego · 07/11/2021 08:33

Cheese Footballs. You can still buy tubs of these around Christmas in cheap shops. I’ve definitely found them in Iceland and B&M before.
