Food you miss

I really miss the Phileas Fogg snacks from around the 90s, particularly Punjab Puri and Mignon Morceaux… god they were good. Also Frisps if anyone remembers them. And NikNaks before they went dry and biscuity. Anyone else?

@Surmeslevres you can still buy them, they are always in the food donation box at work - think pound shop has them

AuntieStella · 06/11/2021 23:40

Proper Fruit Gums, which used to be rather harder than the way they make them now

FuckYouCorona · 06/11/2021 23:52

Milk chocolate coated Nice biscuits. Sainsbury's used to do them years ago & I haven't found them anywhere else since. Gutted!

@TeethingBabyHelp

Cartoonies. Nobody ever remembers them but they were little bags of biscuits; sort of glossy with a cartoon character on with chocolate in the middle

I'm pregnant and craving them BADLY. But you can't get them anymore. My body doesn't accept this and I think about them daily at the moment

Yes I can remember them! I used to love them
Nsky · 06/11/2021 23:59

Caramac , nothing matches

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 07/11/2021 00:00

@Thatsplentyjack

My mum used to buy these wee tubs of frozen strawberry mousse. No idea where from, andshe claims she can't remember, but they were so good.

Also crispy pancakes. Why would they stop making them?!

If they're the same ones I'm thinking off I think you can still get them. Although I remember them as being raspberry ripple flavoured so maybe they aren't. Did they have a thin cardboard lid on them and look like ice cream before they softened?
HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 07/11/2021 00:07

@foxgoosefinch

Also something my mum used to make in the late 70s and early 80s - packet Florida Spring Vegetable Soup. My dad hated it and said it wasn’t men’s food 🤣 but I loved it. Not surprised you can’t get it any more - it must have had enough salt in it to stun a horse.
The Knorr chicken noodle one still has a fuck ton of salt in it or at least it tasted like it did
GlitterSquid · 07/11/2021 00:08

Strawberry supermousse?

Icland sells frisps, 6 for a quid and I buy loads as love them!

Icepinkeskimo · 07/11/2021 00:48

McVites Abbey Crunch Biscuits, how I loved your oat/hint of salt and crunchy munchy texture.

Another vote for the Cabana, the perfect combination of coconut/fruit/caramel and chocolate.

Texan Bar, it was a mighty long chew!

The peppermint kind of honeycomb bar covered in chocolate and there was also a strawberry and an orange variety. If my memory serves me right it was a Scottish company called Gardiners and it was called a Puff Candy Bar.
Ross's (also another Scottish company) produced a 'puff' candy bar.
The texture of both bars where completely different to 'crunchie' type honeycomb in that they were very very fine textured, and either mint green, pink or orange depending on their flavour. They were substantial as well!

Terry's Mint Cracknell a work of art.

Cadbury's Rumba

Fry's Five Centres a work of genius to have five different fruit flavours in a bar.

NotMyCat · 07/11/2021 00:55

Forgot the 10 calorie soups you could get as well, I miss those

@TeethingBabyHelp b&m is a goldmine for stuff! I get the frys chocolate bars, and if you like the fish and chip crisps, they're 50p for a multipack

NeverDropYourMoonCup · 07/11/2021 01:19

@Alwaysconfuddled

I’ve been gluten free 15years, I miss the most going into a chilly and having a sausage dinner. Sausage chippy chips, peas and gravy 😋
Our nearest chippy has gone gluten free. It's amazing.
superoz · 07/11/2021 01:20

Oh yes loved Phileas Fogg snacks! M&S did something similar which were nacho cheese flavour corn chips that were oval shaped.

Sara Lee chocolate gateau which cost 99p from Iceland, the Black Forest was a close second.

MountainDweller · 07/11/2021 01:23

I'm gluten free too - so fish and chips and Chinese crispy duck with pancakes. And just occasionally a pain au chocolat fresh from the boulangerie.

Fry's peppermint cream, plain chocolate Bounties, old style Mars/Milky Way when the nougat bit was brown, fruit pastilles before they became vegan.

And Beef suet and Wensleydale cheese Sad Thanks Brexit Angry

I thought it was bland and tasteless compared to a proper caramac bar
