Stolen the idea from
Another thread. I wanted a Mr Frosty, but never got one. Apparently my parents says I never asked at Christmas or birthdays. (I did have an A la cart kitchen though.)

@MrsToddsShortcut that sounds amazing.

TheDuchessOfDork · 21/10/2021 20:31

80s child here I always wanted one too.

We do jokey presents for adults now. My mum bought me a Mr Frosty last year! After all of my moaning about it

I am 37 Grin

TheDuchessOfDork · 21/10/2021 20:34

I did however have the Big Yellow Teapot, the Post Office in a box, the 'Office' in a box pictured a few pages back, a Girls World and the Cadbury Dispenser. So clearly I was not a neglected child in any way!

OrlandointheWilderness · 21/10/2021 20:34

Oh god how I wanted a Mr Frosty.

OrlandointheWilderness · 21/10/2021 20:37

I DID get Hollywood hair Barbie though.

lunar1 · 21/10/2021 20:42

It was a Mr Frosty and a Cindy's kitchen Cafe that were the converted gifts I never got. I'll pretend I've not overcompensated with my own children 👀

katscamel · 21/10/2021 20:46

At the age of about 8 I wanted a pair of boot skates and was told I couldn't have them until my feet stopped growing.....never did get them.
I also wanted a crafty set called 'Fashion by.me'... from what I remember it had bits of fabric you could make dolls outfits from. Instead I got a fashion wheel which had plates you coloured over or something.
My other biggest wish was for a pink fairy castle cake with silver balls my mum had in a recipe book.... never got it even though my younger brother got trains and boats and things.

Afonavon · 21/10/2021 20:50

Desperately wanted, but never got:

Mr Frosty
A La Carte Kitchen
Big Yellow Teapot
Girl’s World
Family Treehouse
Midi HiFi
Downfall

My parents convinced me that my friends who had all the toys they wanted didn’t appreciate them. I could see that, their toys were certainly not as precious them as my few were to me.

LynetteScavo · 21/10/2021 20:51

I'm still waiting for a Mr Frosty.

And a speak and spell (I got a Little Professor though)

lunar1 · 21/10/2021 20:55

Still bitter!

Didn't get a Mr Frosty Support thread.
TheVolturi · 21/10/2021 21:04

I've got a Mr frosty in the loft that I will happily send you op! But I must warn you he's a hard work little fucker! By the time you've finally managed to get a slushy out of him you will be sweating that much you'll need one!

Crinkle77 · 21/10/2021 21:05

W always got the cheap version of popular toys and trends. I wanted a transformer. Remember those robots in disguise? Except I didn't get the branded one but a cheaper model. It did the same thing but just not as good. The when pop swatches were all the rage my sister wanted one for Xmas but my mum bought this rubbish version instead. We'd have to pretend to be pleased when underneath all we felt was bitter disappointment. They did come up trumps with the Sega Megadrive though 😊

PoshWatchShitShoes · 21/10/2021 21:11

I had Mr Frosty. It didn't work though. Massive disappointment 😂 It's on my DC's list for this Christmas, which is exciting!!

The post office in a box was awesome!! The ones available now are rubbish.

I never had the yellow tea pot, but I did have the awesome My Little Pony grooming parlour. Sadly parents didn't keep any of it 🤦🏼‍♀️

@Slushynana

This thread has made me laugh so much! My eldest son wanted a Mr Frosty and I was the mean mum who wouldn’t buy one. For my grandsons birthday this year I asked what they would like me to buy him. His partner told him to ask me for a Slush Puppie machine and my son told her I wouldn’t buy one as I had never bought him a Mr Frosty! He is 45! Obviously not getting a Mr Frosty causes deep psychological issues! I bought the Slush Puppie machine so now he also knows I love my grandson more than him! Although his partner has told me it is also brilliant for making frozen cocktails, so not quite sure who really wanted it

That completely cracked me up!

Mmm, daiquiris in the slushy maker! 🍹

PoshWatchShitShoes · 21/10/2021 21:15

I loved Clark's Magic Steps shoes. And does anyone remember Secret Keepers? The little tortoise and snail storage thingys with keys.

I don't think I ever wanted a Pound Puppy. Now I want one though, so I love the idea of the little babies and you didn't know how many you'd get!!

ABitOfAShitShow · 21/10/2021 21:16

@FourTeaFallOut Solidarity, sister. God gives his toughest battles to his strongest soldiers!

GiveMeStrength2day · 21/10/2021 21:18

@Finfintytint

I wanted Katie Kopycat and her magic desk. I never got it. Fifty odd years of disappointment Grin
I had that! Was quite difficult to use though
elp30 · 21/10/2021 21:30

When I was young, my extended family on my mother's side, would visit our grandparents every Sunday. I have around 35+ maternal first-cousins so they would bring their toys to play. Every week I took my Monopoly board game, my Big Wheel, and a Spirograph but I got to play with a Snoopy Snowcone Maker (it was the 70's) which I liked more than Mr. Frosty and loads of other great toys. I did personally love the Lite-Bright, Speak and Spell, Simon, and the best toy ever, my cousin's Atari.

I was very lucky that way so I never felt like I missed out. Mind you, "someone" (I'm looking at you, cousin Robert!) lost a few pieces to my games and I know I "may" have accidentally broken a few too. I would have loved an Atari for my own though.

MintyGreenDream · 21/10/2021 21:44

Desperately wanted an a la carte kitchen but never got it.I got a Poochie and a Fashion Wheel though so not all bad

Twilight7777 · 21/10/2021 21:47

If it helps I got a mr frosty, it wasn’t worth it, it took about 5 turns on it to get even a teaspoon of the slushy

MintyGreenDream · 21/10/2021 21:49

@PoshWatchShitShoes I had the white swan Keeper with the long pink hair!

Amandasummers · 21/10/2021 21:52

My mum apparently bought me one that year her and my dad broke up….but we only had a small fridge with a tiny freezer compartment in the top so no room fit all the ice etc so she had to return it 😩

Never got a talkboy either! #harddoneby

rosiepillow · 21/10/2021 21:53

I wanted a mr frosty so bad was never going to happen

@Siriisatwat obviously I'm not happy that you had to keep your toys in their box but my parents were exactly the same. We had to put them on shelves in our bedroom and I'd look at them dreaming of playing with them one day. They also withheld toys other people bought if they were too nice. Anything that fell apart in 5 mins was acceptable Grin
My dd has a 20ft playroom that looks like a toy store it's so filled with so many toys that I wanted to play with. I may have slightly overcompensated for the rubbishness of the withheld toys....

PoshWatchShitShoes · 21/10/2021 21:56

@MintyGreenDream Poochie!!! I didn't remember those existed till you mentioned it. I loved mine. And the wheel for being a fashion designer 😆

I loved '80's toys 👏

MintyGreenDream · 21/10/2021 21:59
