Stolen the idea from
Another thread. I wanted a Mr Frosty, but never got one. Apparently my parents says I never asked at Christmas or birthdays. (I did have an A la cart kitchen though.)

I anyways wanted a Mr Frosty then one Christmas when I was 16 years old my DM got me a mr frosty 🤣🤣

PoshWatchShitShoes · 22/10/2021 00:07

Currently searching for that cute Cadbury's dispenser on eBay. Sadly I don't think I'd ever find those tiny chocolates, so it's a miss.

I'd better buy the electric motorbike my 3 year is asking for this year. Otherwise he'll be posting on this thread in 35 years time 😂

FuckmyHead · 22/10/2021 00:09

I coveted a mr frosty when I was growing up, for a few years I asked for one every Christmas but never got one, (I wasn’t deprived I got lots of other things I wished for)
As an adult (early 20’s) A partner at the time bought me one for Christmas because they knew I’d always wanted one … it was absolutely shit! And finally I understood why my mum aka father xmas never did get me one… complete waste of bloody money! Grin

Chesneyhawkes1 · 22/10/2021 00:11

I also did not get a Mr Frosty.

I did have an a la carte kitchen though.

I've considered buying myself one but people say they are rubbish 😭

Chesneyhawkes1 · 22/10/2021 00:12

I also had the little machine that gave out mini dairy milk bars for 2p I think it was

Ticksallboxes · 22/10/2021 00:14

@Siriisatwat gosh...I'm so sorry! Thanks

headlock · 22/10/2021 00:22

I didn't get a Mr Frosty either. My best friend did so I got to try it. Got over it pretty quick as it was shit.

BestZebbie · 22/10/2021 00:22

KilledbyWitches:
Similarly my parents feel they should probably have just bought me the plastic Sword of Omens in ~1987 and preempted the need to do a decade of LARP.

@HelebethH

I still harbour a grudge against my Brown Owl 57 years after the church christmas raffle. I was desperate for a Tiny Tears doll and knew my parents could not afford one. The first prize was Tiny Tears. The Brownies and Cubs were in attendance and the vicar walked over to me and asked me to pick the first ticket. I picked out my own. Brown Owl snatched it away and said I couldn't pick my own prize and drew another one out. I was so upset and I think the vicar felt sorry for me and gave me a colouring book. Just to add iinsult to injury Tiny Tears went to the very spoilt Golden Girl. That was the last time I went to Brownies. I never did get a Tiny Tears doll .
I had a Tiny Tears and was so happy. She wouldn't cry and drink her milk though (or whatever she was meant to do). Actually, she may have been April in a swing, not Tiny Tears, or is that the same thing? Confused
Brittanyspringer · 22/10/2021 03:55

I had a mr frosty. I remember wanting it soo much and then my parents came home with one! I don’t think I ever used it properly. I stuck play doh in it hahaha

CrisisManagement · 22/10/2021 05:11

I never got a Mr Frosty either. I have no idea why I wanted one so badly because I hate any kind of cooking. It must have been an incredible ad.

I did have the Barbie campervan which I played with for hours. There is even a photo of me on a camping holiday with it, as I refused to be parted from it. Crystal Barbie and Whirly-Twirl Barbie (or something like that) shacked up in it with my Boy George doll.

For those of you who missed out on Guess Who, have you seen the very adult version? theinappropriategiftco.com/products/whos-the-cunt-game

Toddlerteaplease · 22/10/2021 07:28

Just asked my colleague if she had a Mr Frosty. She said "no but I always wanted one, and I really wanted a tea pot house!"

@Goawayangryman

Oh I need to join! Things I coveted but never got: that tree house thing with the green plastic canopy; of course, Mr frosty; soda stream; that tank thing that was around in about 1982 which had elementary programming buttons to make it go forward/ backward a certain number of moves.

I did get a pc when I was about 10 though, when they were very expensive relative to wages and we were not rich at all. That was awesome. Spent hours doing little programmes and then running them from the cassette player 🤣. And then my best ever present - a double decker ghetto blaster to copy tapes from the library showing my age

I had one of the plastic treehouses! I loved it, it had a little bush for the dog to live in. It also had a lift in the trunk. I remember being devastated one day though, when the Mum disappeared in the lift! My parents insisted I’d lost her whilst playing with her elsewhere. Roll forwards 10 or so years and I discovered the treehouse was in a load of boxes at my Nan’s. First thing I did was get a screwdriver and remove the base…the Mum was in there! I felt so vindicated! Grin There was also a toy footballer in there and some smash pieces, so goodness knows what she’d been up to in there.
Mrsfussypants1 · 22/10/2021 07:50

@MintyGreenDream Poochie! Blast from the past.

Mrsfussypants1 · 22/10/2021 07:52

images.app.goo.gl/WTqe5uF9Jd3HyNMy5 I really wanted a barbie dog, I've looked on ebay at Beauty and Prince, they look so tatty now.

CluelessHamster · 22/10/2021 08:04

I had the Bournville thing!! Apparently (I have no memory of this!) I discovered you could use a hairclip to get a chocolate out instead of waiting for a penny so they were all gone very quickly 😂 and I'm not sure if you could easily buy replacements in the right size but remember the thing kicking around empty for years!

I didn't get Mr Frosty or Big Yellow Teapot😭

My sister had a (second hand) Girl's World.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/10/2021 10:05

I still have my cabbage patch kid that drinks milk and burps.

MrsArchchancellorRidcully · 22/10/2021 10:13

I begged santa for a teeny tiny tears but never got it. Santa was very kind and left a lovely note saying he was very sorry but the elves ran out of stock 😥

TheFogsGettingThicker · 22/10/2021 10:50

When i was small, I really, really wanted the family tree house. Massively. Never got one. Sad

I did get a Girls World, which was weird because I wasn't into that kind of girlie stuff at all. I preferred reading the booklet that came with it, that showed the various hair styles you could do. I think I learned the word "sophisticated" from there. There were two eyeshadows, pale blue and pale green. I used to give her mad pointy batwing eye shadow, like an alien from Star Trek.

My SIL had the tree house, I later learned, but was desperate for a Girls World head and never got one. There's no justice in this world, is there?

strugglingwithlife · 22/10/2021 12:31

I always wanted a Mr frosty as well but never got one. I always wanted a tiny tears doll but never got one, and a fashion wheel, hungry hippos, buckaroo, dairy milk dispenser, never got them. And was never allowed a cabbage patch doll cos my mum said they were horrible ugly things.
I had the big yellow teapot, my little pony, Sylvanian families, I had the mansion with the working lights. I had an etch a sketch, a spirograph, which I never even asked for and hardly used. I had 3 keepers, the snail, swan and horse. And I remember getting a girl's world, was really excited. And a skipit. And I had a baby talk for my birthday one year, I loved her. I remember a little toy washing machine that actually worked as well. And a sindy wardrobe

RosieRoww · 22/10/2021 12:33

I always wanted to get a lovely wooden dollhouse- never get any.

Silversun83 · 22/10/2021 12:43

I didn't actually want a Mr Frosty, but my sister did and was lucky enough to get one.

My big disappointments were a huge baby doll that crawled (I got a newborn that shivered instead Sad) and the Cadbury chocolate dispenser.

Touch wood, my DD hates adverts and so asks for them to be skipped and we don't tend to go shopping so doesn't really know how much plastic tat is out there Grin

Though the My Little Pony Sing and Skate advert did catch her eye the other day.. Thankfully she's only mentioned wanting it once so hoping she forgets. I did look it up, but there's no way I'm spending £50 on it! Plus I've already pretty much finished her Xmas shopping

Silversun83 · 22/10/2021 12:44

Oh and were never allowed Sylvanian Families as apparently they were too expensive!
