Stolen the idea from
Another thread. I wanted a Mr Frosty, but never got one. Apparently my parents says I never asked at Christmas or birthdays. (I did have an A la cart kitchen though.)

To be fair to my parents. Although I never got a Mr Frosty or a lolo ball, or one of those things you put round your ankle and skipped with. (Can't remember the name) My mum thought I was to accident prone!

I did get some cool stuff
A la cart kitchen
Yellow tea pot
Carry tot
Lots of cabbage patch kids
Trolls
And a Hornby train set (suspect for my dad's benefit)

@Siriisatwat

Ha! Me too.

I finally bought myself one from argos a few years ago. It was SHIT.

My parents used to buy me presents and then not let me have them. I had to keep them in a box and “save” them because one day they might be worth something. So 80s things like when kids cameras first came out, all my friends had one on school trips - mine was in a box in the loft being “saved”. So many gifts like that.

My dad has dementia now and I am clearing out his house to move him near me. All those boxes of presents that would have given me such joy as a child? Worth fucking pennies on ebay, it’s not worth buying the tape to package them if they sold. All gone to the charity shop. It made me so sad.

Wow, I came on here for a moan but now feel chastened. Poor you Siri.

I didn’t get a Mr Frosty (ever) and I didn’t get a Sindy one particular year, but a Girls World instead. Except not the make-up, my mother took the make up away in case it marked the carpet.

The I cut off it’s hair not realising the “growing hair” cog on the side of its neck had a finite resource of hair. I think I was too young for it tbh. Sindy would have been better.

FredaFox · 21/10/2021 15:10

Oh I was desperate for one, my cousin had one and I was so jealous I did have a girls world though

MargaretThursday · 21/10/2021 15:12

I didn't get one either. Dm said we wouldn't like it anyway because it was full of yucky azodyes.

I also didn't get the real live baby I asked FC for aged 5yo.
Nor did I ever get the dolls house I longed for, because my room was too small to have one.
So I had a tiny room and no dolls house either.

Tbf I think it was an excuse and dsis (whose room was around 3x the size of mine-genuinely) didn't get the train set she wanted either.
She was very put out when dbro got a train set several years later. So was he. He didn't want one. Grin

They must really have done an amazing job of advertising these things. I wasn't allowed to watch commercial telly so god knows how they got to me. I think it must have been peer influence as in, I saw all this stuff at the houses of friends that were allowed to watch ITV and pester their folks accordingly :)

Longdistance · 21/10/2021 15:13

I didn’t get a lot of the things I asked for. Even when I was a teenager I was into photography. I didn’t get the camera I wanted. That was he only thing I really wanted. One year I got a watch that I wanted. I knew that even if I asked I wouldn’t get it, so never bothered.
Yes, I didn’t get a Mr Frosty either.

Babybellblue · 21/10/2021 15:15

No Mr Frosty for me.. many years of disappointment. But I did get Mr Pop... he was ace Grin

Rockbird · 21/10/2021 15:15

No Mr Frosty here even though I pleaded with every relative for about 5 years running. Had Sindys though and a Commodore64 so not too bad I guess.

purplecorkheart · 21/10/2021 15:16

I was very very lucky growing up. Most of my parents friends had older kids so I got a lot of the things they out grew like Mr Frostie, Big Yellow Teapot and Kitchen.

Porfre · 21/10/2021 15:16

I would have loved a Mr Frosty when I was young.

Porfre · 21/10/2021 15:19

I always wanted one those styling head with makeup.

MrsRobbieHart · 21/10/2021 15:20

I got a cupcake doll one year. Never forget that lovely smell. Grin

tellmetologoffIamaMNaddict · 21/10/2021 15:20

We had a Mr Frosty but by the time I was old enough to play with it there was no syrup. I never got my Moptop Hairshop

YouCantBeSadHoldingACupcake · 21/10/2021 15:20

I wanted a dream phone game. 3 years in a row is asked for one, never got it. Bought it for dd for her birthday last year after they rereleased it (just so I could finally play it) and it was rubbish lol

MmmMarmiteAndMarmalade · 21/10/2021 15:21

@Finfintytint I’m sorry to hear that, I LOVED my Katie Copycat and still have her but not the desk. We went to relatives that year and had presents to open there. I thought that I wasn’t going to get the only thing I really wanted but there was a huge box on my bed when we got home a few days later. Joy!

Siriisatwat · 21/10/2021 15:21

I saw one of these in a charity shop a few weeks ago and it brought back so many memories? Anyone else?

(And yes, my parents were odd. We lived like paupers and since sorting his affairs, I’ve found out that we really didn’t have to).

Didn't get a Mr Frosty Support thread.
Nitgel · 21/10/2021 15:22

I wanted a girl's world

bigbeautwoman · 21/10/2021 15:22

Oh my god I thought it was only me lol

RedCarsGoFaster · 21/10/2021 15:22

We shared a Mr Frosty - all I remember is how hard it was to turn the handle.

I was denied a Scalectrix though because "they're for boys". Sigh.

Cuntness · 21/10/2021 15:24

My brother never got one, either.

I never got a Scampi Dog. Still not over it.

Cuntness · 21/10/2021 15:25

This made me feel sad. How horrible!
IhateBoswell · 21/10/2021 15:26

Aww I remember that Siriisatwat 🙂
I had the Mr Frosty, it was shite 😑
The Big Yellow Teapot was great though. I had the A La Carte kitchen too, never served up beans and Swiss roll though 🤔
I always wanted a Soda Stream and never got one.

Echofallen · 21/10/2021 15:26

Yes, I wasn't allowed one either, ditto Operation. I did have Buckeroo, Hungry Hippos and Mousetrap but I wanted a Mr Frosty dammit!!!

Toomuch2019 · 21/10/2021 15:27

Also wanted a Mr Frosty badly

But was SO disappointed when I bought ones for DC this year. It's like a cheap crappy cheese grater inside and they don't even provide the sickly colouring bits! It's just boring ice!
