I wouldn't have recognised Madonna

I've just read an article about a recent appearance by Madonna on an American chat show (Daily Mail, sorry). She's changed so much, I don't think I would have recognised her if the article hadn't said who it was.

No comments on what she said about Weinstein then?

All of that. And two people hone in oh she was always a mess.

Her music irrelevant. Her drug addiction etc. Behaviour.

The most important thing about her.

There's no balance is there.

Only the incidents of dodgy behaviour. That's all there is.

I barely know who CL is. I ignore what most celebrities say. I know who Madonna is.

Fascinating as your stream of consciousness posts are, it's not a thread about Weinstein or Courtney Love.

Live Through This is a good album but I was always more of a Babes in Toyland fan.

I didn't think my thoughts would be popular!

I think saying that in 2005 was awesome but whatever.

For those who are saying, “It’s just Madonna being Madonna” is this what usually happens in interviews with her? Simulated sex and the flashing of body parts?

Her concerts and music videos (they’re probably not referred to as videos anymore, lol) were often provocative and engendered a lot of debate, especially the whole crucifix/sex juxtaposition. But I can’t remember her (resorting) to simulating sex in interviews before.

I hope I have a body like Madonnas when I'm in my 60s.

Well good for Courtney for speaking out about Weinstein, especially as she knew it meant she'd then be blackballed. She's always been a maverick so I'm not surprised she didn't toe the Hollywood line.

If only she'd been listened to then.

This. I only mentioned her in relation to how different this latest madonna interview was, as opposed to previous well known interviews where she came across as smart, classy and amusing, compared to other celebrities in the same interview.

I once saw a thing about getting a show together choreography rehearsal etc.

After one backstage sitting around having beers with a bunch of the dancers. (They sitting she sitting on something higher, she doing all the talking dominating and them trying to look relaxed rather than terrified.

She stuck a beer bottle in her mouth and put it waay in I mean ages ago but it was Jesus. She looked for a positive reaction to her display of fellatio potential/ practice. They all looked uncomfortable and laughed with nervous horror at the entire situation.

So I'd go with yes. I think it's fair to say that sexualised exhibitionistic displays are her area.

This thread has reminded me of Warren Beatty's quote from the In Bed with Madonna doc

Warren Beatty came across badly in that documentary. A much older man sleeping with a younger women because he desperately wanted to appear relevant. She treated him with contempt if I remember rightly.

@madametuffington 51 here and i agree with you. Older people can strip off 😵 but do they still want to? I thought people did it because they're fit but also because they've no sense. Older people usually get sense.

Having a reaction to madonna humping a desk isnt reducing her because she is 63.

I think she stop that kind of boring shit we have all seen before from her from miley cyrus, we've all seen it before. Id like to see her take her status as a icon. She is amazing. So much good music.

@IComeInPeace I totally agree with you.

The reason people strip off when they're young is because they don't know better - they haven't worked out the reasons why it's problematic to do so.

At Madonna's age, I would expect her to know better - and the fact she is still doing it at her age is what makes her look desperate, insecure and silly.

Funnily enough on that link in the OP, there are articles in the DM about two other women in their 60s, Angie McDowell and Dawn French. It’s look their age and ducking fantastic. They may have had work done but they don’t look like plastic imitations of a 20yo and neither of them is gyrations around on anyone’s desk.
I really hope that the more women actually say fuck it and refuse to conform to the young plastic celebrity stereotype, the less pressure their will be for others to do it.

She can do what the hell she damn well wants.
