Wayne Couzens experience in prison?

Obviously I don't care how he gets treated but do you think other prisoners are going to give him a tough time especially since he's ex police and especially since what he did?

Hopefully they have a decent suicide watch in place

I’d hate for him to choose to end his miserable tortuous existence

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 01/10/2021 12:56

I hope he rots in hell. I would have had him flogged, locked up and the key thrown away.
Sentences are far too soft and evidently no deterrent to these abhorrent individuals.

TheWoleb · 01/10/2021 12:58

I didnt know that about the food.

On a visceral level, I would want him to be left un protected from the general population in the prison. Let him learn what it feels like to have all those men to do him what he did to Sarah. Then maybe give them all a cup of tea and a bakewell tart for afters. Let him feel the fear and helplessness of being trapped while those things happen to him.

But that's not what we do. In our society, we dont allow that or at least we shouldn't. We cant lock people up and then turn a blind eye to them being hurt with no way to escape. It isnt about what they deserve, it's about what we are willing to allow. What type of people are we.

He will be attacked. There may very well be guards who do turn a blind eye. But we shouldn't be advocating for it because it isnt who we are.

WimpoleHat · 01/10/2021 13:02

Being a sex offending copper puts him on the same level if not lower than nonces in prisoner hierarchy

Absolutely.

SuperstarDog · 01/10/2021 13:02

A bullet ...much cheaper

If Sarah was my daughter, I wouldn’t want that. I would want him kept alive to suffer, knowing he will never be free.

But honestly, my thought are with Sarah’s family, not him. I hope they can find a way through what has happened, their statements were absolutely heartbreaking.

BakingOfTheFoodCats · 01/10/2021 13:04

I didn’t know the other prisoners make the food! In that case I imagine their will be all sorts in it 🤢

UsedUpUsername · 01/10/2021 13:04

@Swishswish26

Will he be in solitary for the rest of his life? Obviously I hope so but hate the fact it’s something like £85 000 a year of taxpayers money to house a category A prisoner.
It seems most people don’t like the death penalty in the UK and prefers to keep them alive until they die naturally. Personally would feel better if sadistic rapist-murderers like this were swiftly executed instead of pointlessly kept alive.

I mean, he won’t suffer but ok
TheWoleb · 01/10/2021 13:06

@UsedUpUsername

Would you spend your working life killing them? Or is that a job for someone else so you wouldnt need to go home and say you killed someone that day?

UsedUpUsername · 01/10/2021 13:07

@GeidiPrimes

I agree that he'll be on the "numbers" wing with the other sex-offenders. Other prisoners make their food, and I know that they take great delight in adding shit, semen and pubic hair into that particular wing's food.
This … isn’t ok.
StellaCinnamon · 01/10/2021 13:09

Boo hoo.

I mean, WC isn’t just someone and you know it.

GiveMyHeadPeaceffs · 01/10/2021 13:10

@Gothichouse40

I really don't want to hear any more about him and quite frankly if he does suffer in prison, it will be mild compared to what he put Sarah through. Lets keep Sarah's memory alive and forget him. He is not important.
100%
viques · 01/10/2021 13:12

@WhatATimeToBeAlive

Wouldn't be surprised if he tops himself in prison.
I think this too, like Shipman and West, I expect he will be on suicide watch, but that isn’t foolproof.
StrychnineInTheSandwiches · 01/10/2021 13:12

Nah, I have no wish to see anyone get the death penalty. No matter how revolting the crime.

SuperstarDog · 01/10/2021 13:12

This … isn’t ok.

I’m ok with it. I dare say most people won’t lose any sleep over it.

EspressoDoubleShot · 01/10/2021 13:15

He will clearly be detained on the VP wing. He’s always going to be a target because of who is he (copper) what he did (rape,murder,set body alight)

Yep agree.
Upamountain43 · 01/10/2021 13:18

There are a surprising number of former Police and Prison officers in prison and they really get a hard time and rightly so. From other prisoners and staff.

But only a certain type of prisoner would attack them as most just keep their heads down until they get out.

There won't.

I've worked in prisons with a VP wing. When the officers from the VP wing go to collect the food from the prison kitchen, they get to choose which trays of food they take. The trays get taken to the servery back on the wing and the prisoners get served from there.

Clarice99 · 01/10/2021 13:19

This … isn’t ok.

It's okay with me. He's a piece of shit and deserves to eat shit for the rest of his life.

lifehappened · 01/10/2021 13:19

I hope he gets murdered. Slowly

RoseRedRoseBlue · 01/10/2021 13:19

@AlternativePerspective

Oh I don’t know, I don’t imagine solitary confinement is a particularly pleasant experience.

As for him being given a hard time by other prisoners, let’s not pretend that those prisoners will give him a hard time out of some kind of moral objection to what he’s done. The kinds of prisoners who will want to make a name for themselves for attacking someone like him are already violent lowlife, probably doing time for similar crimes who just want to gain a bit of notoriety.

And I don’t get the obsession with not mentioning his name. He is who he is, his name should be synonymous with what he’s done, not hidden away so people forget him. Because once you start forgetting his name, people will start forgetting who she was as well. In years to come people aren’t going to remember “Sarah Everard who was killed by some bloke,” but if his name is known then she will remain known as well.

Thank you for providing a sensible and balanced approach. I hate the rush to categorise other inmates as righteous purveyors of justice when high profile events like this happen. It’s grossly hypocritical.
Worldgonecrazy · 01/10/2021 13:19

He will probably get a couple of other prisoners having a go due to him being an ex policeman who committed a crime that dominated the news. Not because of what he did but because it will give a level of kudos.

But he isn’t a child abuser so won’t be as low as them on the pecking order. Prisons are full of men who have raped and murdered women, he won’t be the biggest monster in his prison nor will he have committed the worst crime, and once the media has moved on his life won’t be much different to other prisoners kept on the vulnerable wing.

There are too many men carrying such evil within them.

TertiusLydgate · 01/10/2021 13:20

I was asking a senior police friend about this.

He said he will be in a separate secure wing - not solitary confinement. He is at risk of attack, but because he's a police officer more than his horrific crimes.

Let's face it - many of the other inmates are rapists and murderers.
