Obviously I don't care how he gets treated but do you think other prisoners are going to give him a tough time especially since he's ex police and especially since what he did?

Well, that isn't exactly what I said.

You said that if people think/want to do these things then they are on the same level as him. You asked how are they any different from him? As if it makes them the same. It doesn’t.

He should have been executed by armed coppers straight after pleading guilty. No need to keep him alive for the next 30 years at the taxpayer's expense and no lengthy, costly appeals dragging out over years like in the US.

You do know that pleading guilty is not the same as being found guilty under the law?

Whilst this case is horrific, I really don’t see the logic in people commenting on what they’d like to see happen to WC. Such as being tortured to death, lose his human rights. Doesn’t that make us as bad as him? Are we not better than that?
We didn’t lose Sarah, her family did.
The justice system is far from perfect, I think we all know that.
But he was given the longest prison sentence possible in the UK justice system, a whole life tariff , which are very rarely given out.
Look at Colin Pitchfork recently released. He killed two children. Did horrible things to there bodies. He’s now a free man roaming out streets, god knows where. Probably with a new identity.

Bloody hell. It makes me very glad that we have a structure of justice in this country if this is how some people think.

No, it doesn’t make these people as bad as him. These people are wishing these things on a man who is guilty of horrific crimes. WC did the things he did to an innocent woman. Can you see the difference? I hope so cos it’s a fucking huge difference.

He should be punished, these people disagree with you about the methods that should be used for that punishment. But that does not make them in any way as bad as him and to say it does is extremely offensive.

@00100001
So you believe that prisoners should be treated well in prison? Given decent food, education, time outside and so on?
Can you explain why you think they should be able to do all that? This ‘person’ raped and killed a wonderful young woman and wiped out her future. He burnt her body and hid it and took his family to near where the body was. Her family are heartbroken, it’s a tragedy. When he did it to her he hurt ALL women.
What are the reasons he should have protection from harm and entitled to safety?

Duchess379 · 03/10/2021 23:14

As a retired female police officer, I hope his experience in prison is long & painful.

Colin Pitchfork should never have been released.

Threads like this are the reason our prison system is failing in rehabilitation targets, but nobody cares.

Re-offending costs the tax payer £16 Billion a year.

If our society actually stopped harping on about "punishment" and fantasising about how "horrific" it should be and actually started to focus more on how our prison system should start "rehabilitating" offenders, only then will we see change.

WC has a full life tariff, he will be on a VP wing and that's where he will stay. Some will say "but you can't rehabilitate him" and you know what you are probably right. Hence the whole life tariff.

But to those taking glee that all prisoners on VP wings are being fed shit. No. Think again. Some of those men could be rehabilitated. Don't forget VP wings don't just house SO's , sometimes men who have severe learning difficulties are placed in VP. As they would get literally abused in "Main Pop".

So whilst you may want to feed WC your shit. Please can we not advocate that all prisoners on the VP wing get fed semen and shit 🤦🏻‍♀️

Prison should be rehabilitative; WC is an absolute piece of shit and cannot be rehabilitated that’s why I think ppl like him should be executed and forgotten about.

I don’t advocate prison justice it’s too horrific for people who either didn’t do it or got caught up with the wrong crowd. And dehumanising for everybody else.

**So you believe that prisoners should be treated well in prison? Given decent food, education, time outside and so on?

The question wasn’t aimed at me
but the answer is yes.
Otherwise what’s the alternative? Have prison staff beat up prisoners? Turn a blind eye to prisoners killing other prisoners?
How would that work in a civilised society?
Wouldn’t that also be unsafe for prison staff too? And what about the prisoners who are in there for minor mistakes?

Contrary to popular belief, Prison isn’t actually that fun. Despite what the Daily mail or The sun say.
The food isn’t really that good, and at 5 or 6 pm, prisoners are locked away until 8 am the next day.
It’s right that WC goes to prison for the rest of his life, but I can’t advocate some of the ridiculous ideas on here.
