Names that are never coming back

Names that been in common use since about 1850 (so nothing from ancient history like Ethelberger or whatever), that are well and truly dead, as in no babies are likely to be called this now.

How about:
Mildred ?
Edna ?
Mortimer ?

Can you think of any others?

My name was never "in" to go out and I have hated it for as long as I remember . The amount of incorrect spellings I've had and mis pronunciation over the years Hmm . It's not THAT difficult to say Yvette surely ?

Angel2702 · 24/09/2021 17:37

@MintJulia

My elderly aunts were called Violet, Mona and Gertrude.

I'm not sure any of their names will, be back in a hurry

Violet is very much back and has been for a while.

PolarCrew · 24/09/2021 17:50

To be honest think Violet is quite a pretty name and doesn't have a harsh sound to it.

Frazzledstar1 · 24/09/2021 17:51

@MegaClutterSlut

My dh's name is mentioned quite a few times here. Tbh he hates his name i don't like it either but mil regularly says how she chose a great name for him Grin

My nans name was winifred, I don't know anyone else by that name and probably unlikely too either

I have a little niece called Winnie! (Must admit wouldn’t be my choice though)

I have a feeling that great uncle Adolf won't have a slew of grandchildren called after him! Sadly he died before I was born, but my father (German heritage) had fond memories of him!
