Is anyone else following this news story?

Fucking hell I hope she is found. So many things about the timeline don't add up.

The body cam footage from the police didn't put him in a good light - he was so condescending about 'her little website'. He was shifty af.

Body found

You can see him digging in a video shared by a YouTube family who recorded it by chance as they were passing. This video explains more

I don't think it looked like someone digging tbh but pretty sure that's their van and on that video it mentions a single flip flop can be seen on the floor at the back of the van but I couldn't make it out on my phone.

Very sad to hear they've found a body though Sad

I highly recommend following Houseinhabit on Instagram stories for all the latest, she's been gathering so much info and it's just incredible and horrifying watching it all unfold

Just heard its her, very sad for her family. I hope they find Brian soon and get answers for her family.

Alas this was not a surprise. Poor lass.

Her family deserves the truth about what happened.

I suspect that will be hidden too.

The press conference said the body matches her description.

Most innocent people would not run and ‘hide’. (Although if he is merely hiding, then his family should be able to contact him to answer the questions the police wish to ask.)

Likewise most who run are cowards who cannot face the music they wrote the tune to.

Those who take themselves out of this world after domestic violence crimes are most certainly cowards in my opinion.

I suspect the person concerned is a coward.

If I am wrong about the coward tag?

Then he’ll be a liar who said it was self defence/an accident/a sex game gone wrong.

That poor young woman and her family.

I don't think he's hiding now. I think he's taken his own life and they'll be looking for his body at some point shortly

CNN article - US sites are carrying more detail than British ones

edition.cnn.com/2021/09/20/us/gabby-petito-brian-laundrie-update/index.html

The autopsy is being carried out today, and is expected to confirm identity and cause of death.

Laundrie took a backpack and told his family he was going to a local nature reserve and has not been seen since. There have been extensive searches of that nature reserve (including use of drones and bloodhounds) but no sign of him. Seems very possible he lied about his intentions

This is so tragic. I hate to think that police incompetence/bias led to Gabby's death. They even received a 911 call reporting Brian hitting Gabby (not the other way around!) and yet they didn't try to get more information from Gabby when they separated the two for a night. They kept Gabby in the van and took Brian to a hotel, under the assumption that Brian was the victim!

The 911 call from the male witness said he was slapping and punching her.
When they are pulled over they both believe it's him that's in trouble which is why she is trying to take the blame.
The report received by the patrol officers said she was hitting him so they take her word as a confession.

Watch the bodycam footage and see his reaction when he realises what's happened - he laughs.
He repeatedly checks with officers what their plans are and only admits at that point that it's her van and packs a bag to be taken to the DV shelter.
Listen to the conversation in the car en route to the DV shelter. The officer recommends prescription drugs to improve her demeanor and attitude - it improved his life when his wife was on them!

This is a case that deserves worldwide protest to raise awareness of systemic failures in DV cases!

This needs to be a catalyst for change so no young woman is delivered by police into the hands of a controlling man ever again.

RIP Gabby, you were badly failed.

I won't be surprised if it's strangulation.

I also think the boy has taken his own life. Hopefully not, at he will at least confess if he is responsible.

I think Brian is probably not in the US anymore and was v likely helped to leave by his family. I think if he'd taken his life they'd have found him by now. I wouldn't be surprised if his parents have lied about his supposed whereabouts too. How could his parents collude with him in complete silence knowing that Gabby's parents were in absolute bits not knowing where she was. I agree he's an absolute coward. Her parents didn't know she was missing until 10 days after Brian returned to Florida!

It's sad that she's been found deceased of course, but I'm increasingly irritated by the amount of coverage and conversation this is getting, I can only assume it's because she's young, white, pretty. There was a woman missing and later found murdered in London over the weekend, it's pretty much dropped off the news already.

I think it’s getting so much attention because the couple were so active on social media.

They had lots of followers and were well known in social media circles prior to her death.

Plus there’s a lot of ‘clues’ (information) easily accessible to the public which has lead to lots of ‘investigator’ accounts on Instagram and tik tok being set up, amateurs jumping on the bandwagon to gain followers.

In a normal investigation there is nowhere near this level of material available to the public.

The fact there’s a clear suspect also helps - people love a witch hunt. If there’s no known suspect, there’s nothing to latch onto.
