I loved bye bouncers, especially the female one with the massive boobs! I'd take her protection anyday!

Emma is going to be an absolutely huge star. Not just immensely talented, obviously, but intelligent, articulate and classy. It also doesn't hurt that she's very pretty.

Not only did she win despite being a mere qualifier, but with the crowd against her and her parents not being able to attend.

What a remarkable young woman.

Wonderful result and great tennis from both ladies. The stadium is nowhere near as classy as Wimbledon and neither is the prize giving but that doesn’t matter ! Well done ladies and amazing tennis Emma, what a wonderful role model for girls.

Wimbledon is by far the superior venue imo and the US presentation was very poor - waaay too contrived.

I’ve never watched the US Open live like that before. It’s so different from Wimbledon, all the music and razzmatazz. The bouncers boofing everybody out of the way! The overt commercialisation.

I couldn't believe the way they asked the players inane questions on their way out to play - I've heard of a post-match interview, but pre-match?

Also, revealing the amount of the winner's cheque and it being handed over by some banker lady?

The blood was seeping through during the trophy ceremony.

I don’t watch sports, I’m not competitive and I can’t understand the competitive aspect (apart from the 2 million cheque 😂) bit I was glued to this.

Emma is incredible and I wanted my DD to watch this match to show her that there’s more to life in being successful, that how many social media likes you have… 🙄

If only more emphasis was placed on the likes of Emma, instead of all the wannabe reality/insta ‘celebs’ and how they look. (Which isn’t attractive IMO)

Not sure about SPOTY. We had the euros final (seems like absolutely forever ago now - Marcus Rashford has surely got to be in with a shout?) And the Olympics and Paralympics...and normal football and motor racing.

Marcus got a “special” award last year, so I don’t think he will be in the running this year. The Euros will bring back painful and embarrassing memories which will put a downer on Christmas.

I suppose Jason Kenny will be a possible, though maybe they could do a Kenny double ( personally I think Laura should qualify in her own right, all those medals and having a baby!) . Sarah Storey should be in with a shout as well. It would be great if Emma did win, she will be nominated of course, but I still feel it will go to some man because it blumming always does.

Me too. It was so very small. I did like the skirt that the JP Morgan exec was wearing though which tempered my cheque size woe for a bit.

I used to go to the O2 ATP finals, that was so not Wimbledon, the lights, the music, swoosh noises, close ups on the big screen, players and audience, compelling heartbeats over the PA . Not to mention pizza and beer instead of Pimms and strawberries!
