I mean it's obviously breadcake but I've heard some people disagree?

Barm or barmcake

Mrsjayy · 03/09/2021 10:50

What are yorkshire scallops ?

Famousinlove · 03/09/2021 10:50

breadcake!

ginandnappies · 03/09/2021 10:52

Softie (Scotland)

iklboo · 03/09/2021 10:53

A cob can be a small round piece of bread, a type of horse, or a sulking Liverpudlian.

Or Mancunian / Salfordian. Or one of the bricks that make up a cobbled street.

Barms are never filled with a pie round these parts. That's usually Wigan.

Scallops (not just Yorkshire) are thick slices of potato, battered & deep fried. Best eaten with fifteen gallons of vinegar and a metric fuck ton of salt.

LawrenceChaney22 · 03/09/2021 10:53

It's a roll here in glasgow

GreenBeanMcGee · 03/09/2021 10:53

What are yorkshire scallops ?

They're thin slices of potato, dipped in batter and deep fried. Here we call them fritters. Sometimes potato fritters. They're not nearly as nice as the shelled kind.

GreenBeanMcGee · 03/09/2021 10:55

Well thick slices. Depends where you buy them. Apparently they're more generous with their potatoes in Yorkshire.

MrsSkylerWhite · 03/09/2021 10:55

Barm

Mrsjayy · 03/09/2021 10:56

Well every day is a school day. I do like fritters but the chip shop we go to doesn't do them!

Peanutsandchilli · 03/09/2021 10:58

It's a teacake, and scallops are thick sliced battered potato.

KurtWilde · 03/09/2021 10:58

Bap.

GreenBeanMcGee · 03/09/2021 10:59

I haven't had a fritter for over 20 years. I'll have to try one again. Perhaps I've been missing out.

KurtWilde · 03/09/2021 10:59

Or teacake if it had currants in it

LizBennet · 03/09/2021 11:00

Oh fritters are so good with salt and vinegar 😋

GreenBeanMcGee · 03/09/2021 11:06

Shock Is that actually legal?

Mamamamasaurus · 03/09/2021 11:10

Bread cake here. Travel 10 miles down the road from me and it's everything from a roll ro a barm though

ThePersonFromPorlock · 03/09/2021 11:11

Oh, scallops. My mum used to just fry sliced potatoes in the pan and call them scallops. No batter. I fancy the sound of batter!

imnottoofussed · 03/09/2021 11:13

it depends, if it is crusty or not round then it's a bread roll or crusty cob, if it's not crusty then its a muffin

cactijones · 03/09/2021 11:13

Roll

imnottoofussed · 03/09/2021 11:13

but if going to the chippy its definitely a chip barm

imnottoofussed · 03/09/2021 11:14

and now I want a scallop with loads of salt and vinegar but they are rare near me, in fact I can't remember the last time I had one

CheerfulBunny · 03/09/2021 11:15
