Has anyone ever went to school/worked with or just knew before they became famous? Just wondering as I don't know anybody who is famous 😀 and what were they like ?

Have taught the kids of famous sportsmen (premier league) and musicians (Brit Pop) . Lovely kids and parents. Normal state school.

Not me, but I have a friend who knew Lewis Hamilton at school. She has nothing positive to say about him as a teen!

I have a friend who was in his year at school and says that he was barely there, but when he was in he wasn't the nicest.

A former colleague used to teach at the secondary he went to. She said the same about him!

I’m in New Zealand and I went to school with a very famous All Black. Always had that look he was going to be famous rugby player

2 friends of mine are famous. One I met before they were famous and the other afterwards.
For one of them it is a bit outing to mention what they do but the other is a tv presenter. They are lovely but I read some horrible shit about them which is actually quite upsetting.

A mate of mine owns his own TV production company & I went to school on the same bus as a girl who went on to be a political reporter on the BBC.

I went to school with a girl who became a very famous actress who appeared in Coronation Street for several years in the 90s. She was a couple of years younger than me, so I didn’t really know her, but everyone was aware of her because she took the lead role in all the school’s dance & drama productions.

She was very pretty, so she became a fixture in the tabloids & ‘lads mags’ until she had some highly publicised personal problems. I believe she then left the entertainment industry to get married & have a family.

Many years ago:

  • Paul Whithouse, I thought he was a mockney arrogant twat
  • Charlie Higson was charming, very nice
  • Boy George, he was a sweet kid who could turn into a Rottweiler but generally quite nice and fun
  • Tony Hadleigh, he was a nice ordinary bloke, good fun

I went to school with a quite well known actress. She was from a family who all worked in film and theatre. She had star quality even then, but was really lovely and still is.

In my late teens I had a boyfriend who went on to be a very famous premier league and England footballer. At the time he was signed to a local first division team. He’s retired now but is still very much involved in football.

He was never portrayed as being very nice by the media but he was always very sweet to me, still see him around sometimes and he hasn’t changed. I don’t know anyone who has a bad word to say about him.

One of my friends is a known sports journalist and ex boyfriend is an international rugby referee. Also went to school with someone who was in the last 10? in pop idol and someone else who was a children's TV presenter

A close friend of mine that I went to school is very popular on TikTok (a few million followers)) but that's the only remotely famous person I know. He is very normal just now much more popular than he was nearly 10 years ago. My mum went to school with someone who now presents a tv show!

I used to work with Gugu Mbatha-Raw before she got famous. She was the loveliest, warmest, kindest and most interesting woman you could hope to meet, a real delight to be around. She is thoroughly deserving of her success.

Went to primary school with Sam Smith. He was always the funniest guy in the room and comes from the loveliest family!

One of my friends at school is now an actress. I didn’t know as we both moved around a lot and I started to watch a film and remarked to DH that she looked like my friend then when the credits came up it was her. She kept her name from school. She has been in a few films.

I also know another famous actress and recognised her because I knew her mum and dad. They were friends of my cousins and I saw them about every fortnight for a few days. I couldn’t get over that her mannerisms were so like her mum’s. I haven’t met her yet because I don’t live in that country now and when I have been there she has been away filming including Hollywood. My cousins say she is a lovely girl.

I went to school with a couple of (not famous) actors - one of them was in a certain northern soap for a short while. I wasn't close with them.

Even more obscure - someone in the year above became a borough councillor, and another person had a really brief sporting career. Smile

I had lunch with Chris hollins just after he won Strictly. It was to thank him for some work we'd done together and he was super nice.

Also I once ditched my DH on a wedding bus to sit next to Hugh Grant's nephew, DH is still pissed off about it
