Underwear under pjs.

Dd attended a sleepover and told me that all the girls wear pants under their pjs and they laughed at my dd as she just put her pjs on with no underwear.
I've never worn underwear under my nightwear. I thought it was good to let the area breathe at night!!!
Or is this just something my mum has taught me and does everyone else wear underwear under nightwear?!
Worried I've been doing it wrong for the past 40 years!

I'm also team no pants unless on my period. I love how some people who prefer pants have to add 'eww' or 'gross' etc to whatever they're written, it's so rude! Each to their own I say.

I don't think it's gross if you are changing your pyjamas every night or your seekers if you wear none. But come on wearing the same pj's a few nights when no underwear is not the most hygienic by anyone's standards?!

I wear knickers as i fidget and the pyjama seam goes up my crack

I think we’re confusing what our preferences and personal practices are with what is really hygienic or not. I find the thought of wearing knickers round the clock a bit distasteful, but I know that’s not logical. It’s just that I grew up with the whole ‘airing’ thing and it has stuck.

Okay I reeeallly don't get this. I don't wear underwear to bed, but I also don't feel the need to wash/change my pyjamas every day either. I have a shower in the morning so I'm clean... Why does it matter that an item of clothing I'm wearing to bed in my own home isn't completely clean? I agree with the person who said it's a bit like wearing underwear under a swimsuit.

That literally makes no sense

Early 40s, don’t own PJs and have slept naked since l was about 14. The only exception being the first few days of a period, when l sleep with my knix on.

Whoops! I pressed send mid post. In the warm weather l don’t wear knickers with longer summer dresses or skirts either.

Just a silky nightie only.

If I'm wearing pjs then no pants and if I'm wearing pants then no pjs.
Much prefer to sleep naked because I find sleeping with a waistband painful and uncomfortable so I don't need two waistbands.

Same. I generally point my arse at the fan in my room so need something to protect my bits from being blown shudder. Knickers or PJ bottoms will do.

Op how did the other girls know that DD had no knickers on though? Surely she was covered by PJ bottoms?

On a side note, I think those who can sleep with an underwire bra on are psychopaths.

I couldn't wear something with a seam that runs from front to back along where my crotch is without underwear on. The thought of it digging in/rubbing etc. makes me shudder.

I am autistic, though, so I appreciate my sensory experience isn't the same as most people's!

My mum said the same thing….no pants under PJs.
Once I was a teenager, I always wore pants at night, and still do.

No pants, no pyjamas although maybe a vest (still no pants though!) in winter.

I'm the same, currently in bed in thick joggers, pants, socks, bra, vest, long sleeve top and 15 tog duvet (plus a small dog curled up under the covers by my legs 😆

I don't wear pants under my pyjamas but I always have when I've been sharing a room with anyone other than DH.

Knickers when wearing a nightdress or on my period. No knickers any other time. And no, I don't wash my PJs everyday.

The join of the pj’s goes up your crack so yes, knickers under the bottoms.
