Underwear under pjs.

Dd attended a sleepover and told me that all the girls wear pants under their pjs and they laughed at my dd as she just put her pjs on with no underwear.
I've never worn underwear under my nightwear. I thought it was good to let the area breathe at night!!!
Or is this just something my mum has taught me and does everyone else wear underwear under nightwear?!
Worried I've been doing it wrong for the past 40 years!

Pants with nightie. Can’t wear without. Actually can’t sleep. So almost always wear pjs

I wear knickers under mine because I like to wear my pyjamas for two nights before I wash them. If I didn't wear knickers then I'd have to change them daily.

No pants and no washing pyjamas every day either. The bottoms are loose unlike knickers, so contact is with skin, nothing else (period excepted, when pants make a nighttime appearance). Fair enough if people like pants on at night or fresh pyjamas, but I’m not seeing what’s gross here.

Oh god this again. Everyone is different. Your fanny doesn’t have lungs so “breathing” is irrelevant especially when under a layer of clothing and blankets. It’s not gross or grim or whatever other hyperbolic shite people spout to put down others for daring to have a habit different to them. If it was “unhygienic” one camp would be riddled with infections or some such and no one is.

Everyone is different.
Neither is wrong.

No knickers for me or for DD. DS1 and 2 don't wear pants with pyjamas either.

No pants here! Spend too much of the day bundled up in clothes, it's lovely to be naked and clean after a hot bath. Not with sweaty clammy flaps. Also when I have sex it's usually in bed so pants would get in the way.

Pants for me under pjs but no idea if that’s generally normal or not - it’s my normal.
We’re all different so you’ll never get a definitive answer.
Whatever is normal for you is ok.

I wear pj bottoms to knock about the house in the evening, then sleep in a nightshirt/one of DP’s t-shirts. Pants for both.

The breathing thing was from a time when women all wore nighties or skirts...surely its obvious why.

It was also used to argue against women wearing trousers. In the 70s women werent allowed to wear trousers in any job inc police.

That’s weird. I have photos of my at work in the 70s wearing trousers in a BBC make up room and on film sets…

No pants, full stop. Bloody horrible uncomfortable things that dig in and eat your ass!
You need better pants! Harvest Festivals do the trick. I wear pants but don't think its gross if people don't. Personal preference.

Clean pants under pjs and night shirts for me. I have separate night time comfy pants. Hate sleeping naked. Feel I have to change the sheets when I do! Grin

I sleep naked now, but remember clearly having to lift up my nightie to prove that I wasn't wearing knickers in bed when I was at boarding school. Everyone else in my dormitory was just asked at lights out, but I had to prove it. Makes me shudder even now.

Nope.... Never found any pants comfy, so ditched them years ago. Thongs are gross, cross contaminating things and pants that go over your bum cheeks end up in your bin, so you're forever digging them out.
So yeah, it's a no from me, but each to their own haha.
