Where's somewhere you've visited but wouldn't want to go back to?

Positive and negative!

I went to Las Vegas, glad I went, but no desire to return! :)

Would never return to Warwick Castle. It's quite over rated...and not much even happened there, it just looks the part! :)

Barcelona...dirty, smelly, heaving with beggars and everything on Las Ramblas a total rip off (which I was expecting just not to such a huge extent).

We did three days and there's a lot of Gaudi stuff I'd still like to see, would like to do the cable car and would love to see the magic fountains again, but I'd stay outside of the city itself, maybe in Girona which we visited for the day and was beautiful.

@Mixmeup

Brighton.

What a shithole. So dirty. Litter everywhere. Homeless people everywhere. Aggressive begging. The boho ‘atmosphere’ is comprised of a string of tacky shops selling overpriced tat and ‘crystals’. Locals are not actually hippies but rich Londoners with pretentions.

And the beach is a huge crowded heap of uncomfortable stones interspersed with litter, drug paraphernalia and the stench of weed.

Realllly not a fan.

Thanks for this. We live in another southern "seaside" town and I often think it's crap compared to Brighton. How much I want to move. Good to be reminded that I think this everytime I'm there too!

The Midlands

Chicchicchicchiclana · 22/07/2021 12:47

Agree with San Francisco. My brother has been there many times and went for a visit just before lockdown and was so upset by the decline in the city! He says the drugs and homelessness affect all areas, not just the worst ghettos.

It's incredibly sad - a truly desperate situation over there.

My choice would be Bath. Been 2 or 3 times now and never got the love.

I also might not go back to Lisbon but that's because I've been lots of times (as I love it) but there are many other European cities I've not yet visited.

FakeTanandProsecco · 22/07/2021 12:47

Teguise, Lanzarote. Felt really drab and run down outside of the resort we stayed in.

Stirling, and Edinburgh actually as well

Agree with pp about Brighton!

notalwaysalondoner · 22/07/2021 12:47

Lanzarote.
Yunnan in China - just a bit disappointing, the cities were all so touristy (local tourists) and the remote areas too hard to get to (except tiger leaping gorge which was well worth doing).
Martha’s Vineyard in the US. Couldn’t see what the big deal was.

Meant Blackpool

MrMucker · 22/07/2021 12:48

Primark, and I mean any Primark, on a Saturday afternoon.
I'd rather pull my toenails out with tweezers.

waterlego · 22/07/2021 12:48

I live a short distance from Brighton and can’t remember the last time I went there. It’s too hectic and up its own arse.

Seesawmummadaw · 22/07/2021 12:49

I don’t think I have anywhere that I would say never again to. I’ve found something I like about everywhere I’ve been! Obviously some not so great bits.
Maybe I’m just easily pleased?

Dontwatchfootball · 22/07/2021 12:49

Vietnam- travelled with a female friend, got incredible amounts of hassle everywhere except a little town called Hoi An which was lovely. But other than that, I would not bother to go back.

Taiwan, on the other hand, sounds really horrible but is breathtakingly beautiful outside of the cities.

Dunlin · 22/07/2021 12:50

I want to visit the Harrogate-Bath wormhole now.
Maybe it connects with Buxton too for the Victorian spa experience all in one day.

You’ve just reminded me! I’m allergic to sports shops! Any sports shops. They make me faint and claustrophobic. Sports direct and whatever the other big one is especially.
TheCrowening · 22/07/2021 12:52

Royal Ascot.

I’ve no issue at all with the rich and well-heeled. It’s people pretending to be rich and well-heeled and behaving like the most appalling snobs that I objected to.

JonahofArk · 22/07/2021 12:53

Portugal. Charmless place. With a nice bit of racism thrown in.

Mommabear20 · 22/07/2021 12:53

Manchester and Hull! The only reason I would return to either is to leave the country via the airport or ferry port! 😂

SherryPalmer · 22/07/2021 12:55

Cyprus (including Northern Cyprus)
Derby
Manchester

Mojitofairy · 22/07/2021 12:55

New York. I think my expectations were too high, and it was such a disappointment. Hot, dirty, smelly, rude wait staff, air of entitlement and cost a fortune.

It really was completely different to anywhere else in the states, which I enjoyed.

catfunk · 22/07/2021 12:56

Mykonos. There are nice areas but most of the island seemed to be Full of Botox women in fishnet body stockings, very expensive and very windy.

There are much better Greek islands for holidaying IMO.

devildeepbluesea · 22/07/2021 12:56

I love Paris and France in general, New Orleans, Bath.

Agree re Salcombe - went last month and it was full of posh boys with red trousers and faux sailing clothes shops like Joules, Crew and Musto.

Lanzarote - I know people who rave about it, I've no idea why. Totally charmless.

amatsip · 22/07/2021 12:57

Tunisia, we loved it and always wanted to revisit the same hotel but after the terror attack on that very hotel we won’t ever return.

ForestYeti · 22/07/2021 12:57

Blackpool, scruffy and depressing feel to it

Amdone123 · 22/07/2021 12:57

Blackpool - awful place, even with children.

Dublin - overpriced. Could have been in any city in the world. Nothing special not even the bars. Rip off.

London - I felt like a caged animal.
Disney World - we did it with a 4 year old so a good holiday but no desire to go back. To anywhere in America tbh.

Santorini - lovely place and people but felt a bit false, like they just wanted to rip us off. Our transfer to airport didn't turn up and no one could help us. We couldn't even jump in a taxi because there weren't any. Got to the airport just in time and felt like I was in an episode of Banged Up Abroad.

rothbury · 22/07/2021 12:57

Japan. Felt really unsafe the whole time. Would never return.
