Positive and negative!

I went to Las Vegas, glad I went, but no desire to return! :)

Would never return to Warwick Castle. It's quite over rated...and not much even happened there, it just looks the part! :)

Mostar. I went before the war and before the bridge was destroyed and obviously I feel sorry about that, but it is honestly the place I have felt most uncomfortable in. I felt creeped out and as if I had a thousand eyes on me all the time.

SweatyBetty20 · 22/07/2021 12:58

India. Extraordinary place, and I’m glad I went, but the constant pestering from hawkers and beggars just wore me down after a week. Could go back to the Himalayas in Nepal again and again though.

Henley Royal Regatta - got stopped at the gate by the knee length police. My dress was below the knee but was chiffon so you could see my knees through it. Was a guest of a rowing VIP so had to spring into Henley to buy a new dress with about 50 other women…

St Lucia, beautiful but we were bored (resort)
Lisbon, just didn’t like it, felt unsafe
Centre Parcs, really what is the point.

’Botox women in fishnet body stockings, very expensive and very windy.’

Maybe the fishnet is for ventilation Grin

Eden Project
Takes ages to even get in, they keep signing customers up for membership and Direct Debit and signing up every member of the family. All this at the till took them 15 minutes to sell tickets to the family in front of us.
When you get in it's all very tired and worn.

Yet another vote for Bangkok - the place I'd wanted to visit all my life but I loathed it with a passion. Got stuck there an extra 6 days with the "ash cloud" too, and by the time the flight finally left I'd have sat on the wing just to get out of there

Within the UK, Stratford upon Avon which was a complete dump, and (sorry, but) Scotland. I've travelled widely all over the world and loved most places and their people, but I've never known rudeness like it

Qwerty789 · 22/07/2021 13:01

@Carrott21

Dublin and Ireland generally.
It's not really ok to dismiss an entire country like that.

Also it's not them, it's you. Ireland has some of the most amazing scenery in the world and some of the most fun too.

We once went to IKEA on the first day of a Bank Holiday weekend.

That was four years ago and I'm still recovering.

(On a quiet day I quite enjoy it!)

MacavityTheDentistsCat · 22/07/2021 13:04

Bali. Went there on honeymoon and could not deal with being swamped by begging children every time we left the hotel. Plus, a dog died under our hire car and I got food poisoning. Not good.

It seems that Rome is polarising. I'm a Rome lover. Have been there a good five to six times and I'd happily go again. I adore the mix of ancient, modern and religion.

Portugal. Charmless place. With a nice bit of racism thrown in.
I love Porto, again out of season, interesting city we loved the azulejos on all the buildings and a very friendly relaxed atmosphere, I would definitely go again.

Japan. Felt really unsafe the whole time. Would never return.
I'm really surprised by this. What made you feel unsafe?
suckingonchillidogs · 22/07/2021 13:05

Another Vegas vote. Just found it really odd. Not sure what you're meant to do there except visit the casinos. We saw a couple of shows which were good though.

I found it easy to lose track of what time of day it was there. I think it was Caesar's Palace where they had a fake "sky" which was set to dusk. We had a meal there and I came out ready for bed only to realise it was bright sunshine and 2pm in the real world!

ButYouJustPointedToAIIOfMe · 22/07/2021 13:05

I wouldn't need to go back to Dublin, Vienna, Amsterdam, Bruges, Sydney or Athens.
Give me Edinburgh any day.

gustofwind · 22/07/2021 13:05

Dubai. Awful.

gardeninggirl68 · 22/07/2021 13:05

Peppa pig world!! Horrible, tacky, shabby and just stressful

pippistrelle · 22/07/2021 13:05

Nando's.

It wasn't a terrible experience but I wouldn't hurry back.

Yes! I’ve been there and it’s so soulless. Just tat shops everywhere.
ivykaty44 · 22/07/2021 13:06

@IseeScottishhills agree with you, love Rome

EccentricaGalumbits · 22/07/2021 13:07

I've never really hated a place I've holidayed in but there are plenty where I feel I've seen enough and have no desire to go back.

Beirut
New Zealand
pretty much all of England outside London
Bangkok
southern Germany

itssquidstella · 22/07/2021 13:08

Athens is pretty grim. Once you've been up the Acropolis it's just pollution and red light district.

Derbee · 22/07/2021 13:08

Birmingham. Absolutely disgusting

IggyAce · 22/07/2021 13:08

Dublin, over priced & boring glad we only went for a weekend. Plus the flight was the shortest & worst I’ve ever done near sick due to turbulence.

Blackpool an absolute shit hole.

MobyDicksTinyCanoe · 22/07/2021 13:09

I live near the lake district, I've always found it pretty meh. Much prefer Wales especially around Snowdon. I found it a lot more accessible and less pretentious.

LastSummerHere · 22/07/2021 13:09

@GiveMyHeadPeaceffs

Bodrum in Turkey. Hated the vibe. I was in my late 20s and kept getting hassled and groped. I wore long skirts and "modest" tops when out but still got a lot of hassle. So just no.

Agree with pp about Birmingham. Just not my place at all.

Dublin is just alright but I love Belfast, I'm Northern Irish and just think it's a great city.

PP mentioned hating Gran Canaria because of the wind...my dream place is Lanzarote, I love it and I'd move there tomorrow if I could particularly to La Santa or Teguise.

I have a deep and everlasting love for Belfast. Had the happiest years of my life there...a fantastic city with fun, caring people who have overcome so much and still keep striving to make things better. Loved the nightlife and happily walked around at night.

Milton Keynes...never, ever again. A really strange town and unfortunately met a couple of sociopaths there which has tainted my view of it too.

Vietnam...loved the women, hated the men.

Bangkok...an air of menace seemed to hang over it.
