I just got called a whale

For context
I gave birth 6 months ago. Had 2 children in the space of 18 months. I’m 11st 5ft4 size 14...
is this really society’s version of being a “whale” now days? I’ve been trying my best to loose weight but this has really hurt me. Why do people have to be so evil

OP posts:

Nothing at all wrong with your weight. I wish I was 11 stone. I'm 13 stone, 5ft 5" and size 14. Who needs enemies when you've got friends like that?

paddingtonbearmeetsdeadpool · 13/07/2021 19:12

If your a whale I am a walrus don't listen and learn to love and appreciate your body and what it has done.

frumpety · 13/07/2021 19:14

Yes what she said was mean and uncalled for but context is everything , does she normally make bitchy comments ? Where were you when this happened , were you lying about whilst she did the running around or were you all relaxed until it was time to go and she just decided to make a bitchy comment out of the blue ?

happymummy212 · 13/07/2021 19:27

congratulations on your pregnancy, your not a whale, that so called mate of yours needs a slap, cheeky cow who do think she is

happymummy212 · 13/07/2021 19:28

sorry congrats on the birth of your children, your a yummy mummy

me4real · 13/07/2021 19:29

@frumpety None of this would make it ok.

katy1111 · 13/07/2021 19:32

This friend sounds like they are jealous.

notsofussy · 13/07/2021 19:32

Wish I was only size 14 and 11 stone. Take no notice some people always have to put other people down, it makes them feel superior.

frumpety · 13/07/2021 19:34

I didn't say it was ok , I just wondered if it was something that friend had form for or was she pissed off about something and snapped ?

I am double the size of OP so not unused to comments on weight.

Redstar2014 · 13/07/2021 19:44

As Judge Judy says: 'Beauty fades; dumb is forever,'.
I like to adapt it to: 'Weight can be lost; nasty is forever,'.

Dohrehmee · 13/07/2021 19:48

I got called a elephant . Covid lockdown has exer abated my weight gain 😭😢

Element4056 · 13/07/2021 19:48

That's a really cruel thing OP- I'm sorry this happened. Reminds me of the time my cousin asked my siblings if I had eaten my sister to get to the size I am now. She's quite slim and I gained quite a bit of weight in recent years. It was so hurtful to hear and made me incredibly anxious about my weight.

superblondie28 · 13/07/2021 19:49

5ft 3", 11 stone, size 12 or 14. I don't look overweight. No one considers me overweight who I actually know.

OP, your so called friend is a complete dick!! Congrats on your baby 🎉

Bellee11 · 13/07/2021 19:53

You don't need to give context and explain yourself. Whether you're size 14 or size 40, it is never OK for someone to call someone that.

Annie202 · 13/07/2021 20:00

That is appalling! They are certainly not your friend x

Ddot · 13/07/2021 20:06

Size 14 so soon after children isn't that normal. Listen people are mean sometimes, mean and jealous. I've been called huge at a size 12 and tiny at a size a 12. Ive also been heckled in the street by strangers ( I was a size 10) get an apology and move on, if it happens again, drop em

Ddot · 13/07/2021 20:07

Whales are beautiful majestic creatures

Ddot · 13/07/2021 20:08

Good one, " I can diet you will always be ugly "

ThistleTits · 13/07/2021 20:11

@Millionaireinthemaking

Very very close friend!
That's no friend 😕
frumpety · 13/07/2021 20:12

@Bellee11 the OP said this was a very close friend , now I and my close friends have said some things we shouldn't have to each other over the years, for all sorts of different reasons, it doesn't make the saying of them right, but sometimes even the loveliest of people get pissed off or stressed !
I was just trying to work out if OP's friend was a complete bitch or just human Smile

ChargingBuck · 13/07/2021 20:13

it would be best long term if you weighed less/had a healthy diet for your health. think about being healthy and worry less about 'weight'. however, the extra weight after 2 children is something that you can deal with if you wish, whereas your 'friend' clearly is insensitive and cruel and that is much harder to fix. perhaps you can guide her towards counselling or therapy or a social skills class if she feels the need to be abusive or supervise your body shape.

Gordon Bennett, the irony is strong in this one.
STOP SUPERVISING OTHER PEOPLE'S BODY SHAPES, @Dogvmarmot !!!

Localocal · 13/07/2021 20:33

You are better off without that person. Stay away from them from now on.

Hertsgirl10 · 13/07/2021 20:33

She isn’t a friend girl!

Your size is perfectly normal please don’t let anyone make you feel bad about yourself 🤍

Normally people that say things like this are actually envious about something.

Caelan2018 · 13/07/2021 21:08

Omg what a horrible nasty thing to say I would have to call her out on it I have had two children in 3 years and I still have baby weight they are 2.5 and 7 months I would be upset too

Member278307 · 13/07/2021 21:23

I really wish I was as petite as you. Keep smiling.
