Just marvelling at my soda stream. We used to buy SO much sparkling water the amount of plastic was dreadful. I'm so glad I bought it! has really made life better.

Also my quartz worktops.... was a splurge but bloody hell my kitchen is a beautiful place to be now. I can't stop looking at them!

Over £3000 on a bed and mattress, worth every penny.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/07/2021 12:52

Recently spent just over £500 on a huge wardrobe from M&S to go with the just under £500 last year I spent on a huge chest of drawers from there. They have honestly transformed my life - I've never had a proper wardrobe before, just clothes rails. Should have bought them years ago.

Also recently bought a little garden patio set, even though we've already got a bigger set on the decking. The little one is just outside the back door and means we're sitting in the garden much more than previously, because it gets the late afternoon sun there.

Kindle

Second hand cheapo i-phone

MotionActivatedDog · 04/07/2021 12:53

My dehumidifier and retractable wall mounted drying racks. I can dry so much and it’s all shut away in a cupboard so I don’t have to look at it.

PandemicPalava · 04/07/2021 12:58

Pampered chef microwave rice cooker

AngelsWithSilverWings · 04/07/2021 12:59

Our garden cabin. Cost us £18k to build it 6 years ago and we have enjoyed it ever since. It's like having a holiday home in the garden. When I'm out there I forget about the housework that needs doing in the house. It has obviously come into its own over lockdown as DH is using it as his office now.

Hopeful201 · 04/07/2021 13:06

Our dog, been waiting years to have the time to get one. She brings us all so much joy. Best 'thing' I have 'bought'.

@JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle

This sounds very flashy, but my personal trainer. After two children, a husband who has high personal needs (a whole other thread) a demanding job, being overweight and rock bottom self confidence and self worth, he has changed my life. I adore my 2 hours on a Friday evening. He has fixed my wrecked stomach muscles so I no longer look 6 months pregnant, helped me to lose weight, given me confidence and taught me how to be systematic in my approach to things and life in general. I've just started MMA with him and I'm so very proud of myself. It was brutal training, but I couldn't stop smiling. I can't believe that I do the things I do at training. I don't tell anyone, as I still feel a bit wierd and like people would look at me and think "what's the point of that fatty training." But I've never felt better in my heart and my head. THE best money I've ever spent, even though it's incredibly self indulgent.
Sounds amazing!

Laser hair removal on legs and bikini line …. No more stubbly legs, in grown hairs and waxing… worth every penny!!!

LidoLady · 04/07/2021 13:12

Our Campervan - it's always packed up and ready to go at a moment's notice. I love the feeling of freedom and escape it gives us.

My dogs - they make us smile every day and bring so much happiness into our home.

Superking sized bed - I would struggle to go back to a smaller bed now, I love the space and comfort.

Kitchen - we've just invested in a high quality kitchen with gorgeous quartz work surfaces and had help from an experienced interior designer to plan it. Previously we've had MFI or high street shed kitchens and OH and I have had to compromise as we never agreed on styles and decor. I really hope that I will be able to say the same as others up-post, that it was money well spent, when the installation is finished!

Watch - it cost an absolute fortune, but I've worn it every single day for 20 years and it never fails to give me pleasure when I put it on. Just the feel of it is lovely. The bonus being that it's worth more than double now than what I paid for it 20 years ago.

WorriedMillie · 04/07/2021 13:15

Recently, my soup maker. I bought it earlier this year and I’ve used it a couple of times a week since.

Pumpkinstace · 04/07/2021 13:17

My car.

I've always spent approx 2.5-3k buying a car around 7yrs old. I'd drive it for 3-4 years until it was too costly to repair and then scrap it and repeat the cycle.

I got a new job thats driving my own car so I thought I would get something nicer.

I spent 11k on something 3yrs old and don't regret it one bit.

I love my car.

Thatswhathappens · 04/07/2021 13:18

A cordless hoover, genuinely life changing and has made hoovering the stairs so much easier! I wished I had bought one years ago instead of lugging around my big Henry.

The kids 12 foot trampoline, recently moved house and yes it’s way to big for the garden and looks ridiculous but we have had it 4 years and the kids spend hours on it!

Lastly my car (and passing my test) it’s a 2008 car so nothing fancy or new, but it’s mine and I get a sense of freedom every time I drive (10 plus years) that I don’t have to rely on anyone to get me anywhere and I can go where I want, when I want!

headintheproverbial · 04/07/2021 13:20

Agree with soda stream
Sage coffee machine
Paid for a sleep consultant when one child never slept - that was probably the best money we've ever spent

Hoppinggreen · 04/07/2021 13:22

My mattress
Whenever we go on holiday it’s the one thing that makes me happy to be back home.

longtompot · 04/07/2021 13:23

Our house
My dog
Our wood burner

hamsterchump · 04/07/2021 13:23

Electric blanket with separate sides/dual controls and a beautiful cotton velvet quilt from Oliver Bonas. I am always cold in bed and OH is always hotter than the sun so it's great to be able to have my side of the bed pre heated and I have the extra quilt over just my side as well.

Howshouldibehave · 04/07/2021 13:26

This is such a lovely thread to read-particularly posts from people so glad they ‘bought’ their pets Bear!

Mine would have to be a Hypnos Kingsized bed (one of those premier inn ones) -it wasn’t thousands like some people have spent but it’s amazingly comfortable.

Meaco fans -we have 3, they are superb. I bought a Dyson one first but it was unbelievably shit in comparison!

WantingToWonder · 04/07/2021 13:27

Two things:
£220 to see a private neurologist.

A soda stream - I used to get through 3 plastic bottles a day.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 04/07/2021 13:34

@Skiingisheaven, I was glad to read that, since I’ve been thinking of buying one - largely for dd and family - 3 little Gdcs - to use.

RaindropsOnRosie · 04/07/2021 13:38

My house with land
My kitchen
My chromebook. £200 for a super light laptop I can chuck in my handbag and take anywhere. I use it more than my phone sometimes.

DeeDimer · 04/07/2021 13:51

@SkiingIsHeaven

Traditionally a static caravan is money down the drain but with COVID we have been able to have a weekend away / holiday every weekend.

It is on the beautiful Welsh coast with great views and lots of privacy.

We could not afford as many weekends away if we didn't have it and now we can have friends and family come to stay and enjoy it too.

Fabulous relaxing place which works wonders for your mental health. Gets you out in the fresh air walking, paddle boarding, swimming, sea fishing, BBQing and just enjoying life.

Ultimately it has been the best use of our money and a godsend.

I'm sitting in ours (also Welsh coast) listening to the rain. I absolutely love ours, it's brilliant for my mental health.
Veronika13 · 04/07/2021 13:51

Laser treatment on bikini area.
It's been years and I'm still in awe how there's no hair and no irritation etc. no more 🪒 or creams or waxing

SmudgeButt · 04/07/2021 13:55

Puppy pads. And I don't have a dog but an elderly cat who doesn't always remember to get her bottom into the litter tray. Much easier to clean up now.

SpiderinaWingMirror · 04/07/2021 13:55

Speech therapy
Micro scooter
Dog.

Wineat5isfine · 04/07/2021 14:01

Big investment in a fantastic mattress and pillows

Huge splurge on renovating our garden. Massive wrap around patio / variety of tropical trees bordering it / super comfortable garden settees / parasol etc. Did this in 2019 and it’s been our little haven over multiple lockdowns.
