Just marvelling at my soda stream. We used to buy SO much sparkling water the amount of plastic was dreadful. I'm so glad I bought it! has really made life better.

Also my quartz worktops.... was a splurge but bloody hell my kitchen is a beautiful place to be now. I can't stop looking at them!

@Polkadots2021

Back massager, omg. Amazing.
Which one do you have? Have tried a couple which were no good.
ApplePie86 · 07/07/2021 20:04

Composite veneers. Done yesterday. I am overjoyed and can't stop smiling (after years avoiding showing my teeth).

JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle · 07/07/2021 20:29

@PaddleBoardingMomma
Your comment made my usually stone cold self tear up a little. Thank you.
I love my trainer and I love that he has changed me for the better inside and out.
I feel like I've been at war with my body since I piled on weight in my 20s. But since training I'm now proud of what my body achieves. When I first started he asked me what my ultimate goal was and I laughed and said I want to do 1 pull up, but that won't happen. It actually happened 3 weeks ago! I couldn't speak afterwards as if I did I would have burst into tears. Now I know how to throw punches, I have faster footwork and I'm starting to learn submissions. It's my little secret, but I'm kind of looking forward to one day telling someone and seeing what their reaction is.
My only wish is that I would have done this in my 20s instead of my 30s.

So many things, in a similar vein to PPs, best items of this year:
Ninja 9 in 1, really excited to try the yoghurt function
Eufy robovac
IVF for my dc
Celtic sheepskin boot slippers feet have never been so toasty
V shaped pillow so comfy to sleep with
Silk pillow case
Water softener
Korean Italy cloth - never need body scrubs anymore and my skin doesn’t scale and shed anymore - defo worth the 70p odd it cost!

HGV training and test for SIL 10 years ago. Best £2000 I ever spent.

How many? How long did it take?
Atalune · 08/07/2021 12:51

Would love too see the veneers!

I have come back to say the SIOB money of having a garden designer. The deep joy my garden brings me everyday is worth every penny!

I so want to know more about how you became so invested in your sister-in-law’s career as a long-distance lorry driver!

Perhaps it's son in law, and the investment thus benefitted that poster's daughter and their children, too. Maybe. Makes more sense (to me) than sister in law!

Maybe! I think there are more threads on here about sisters in law than sons in law so my mind seeing SIL went to sister in law as default! Also, given that most of the SIL threads are about petty things like birthday presents and not hosting Christmas, I kind of liked the image of a cool SIL driving into town in a ten ton truck, Nessa style.
DerisorySnort · 08/07/2021 15:05

@HaveringWavering that is, indeed, a very pleasing image! 🙂
**@catfunk please could you describe how to fizz up wine with a sodastream, I tried it once and got wine sprayed everywhere, frightened myself, TIA Flowers
@TurnStone I think you need less fizzing and don't fill it up to the top Grin

catfunk bear with me please, did you use a litre or half-litre size sodastream bottle? many thanks Grin

OneMorePieceofCheese · 11/07/2021 10:11

The raspberry canes I bought for about £10 5 years ago. Every year I get more and more canes and from July-December I get at least a couple of punnets a day - when they're £1.50 per punnet in the shops.

@JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle

This sounds very flashy, but my personal trainer. After two children, a husband who has high personal needs (a whole other thread) a demanding job, being overweight and rock bottom self confidence and self worth, he has changed my life. I adore my 2 hours on a Friday evening. He has fixed my wrecked stomach muscles so I no longer look 6 months pregnant, helped me to lose weight, given me confidence and taught me how to be systematic in my approach to things and life in general. I've just started MMA with him and I'm so very proud of myself. It was brutal training, but I couldn't stop smiling. I can't believe that I do the things I do at training. I don't tell anyone, as I still feel a bit wierd and like people would look at me and think "what's the point of that fatty training." But I've never felt better in my heart and my head. THE best money I've ever spent, even though it's incredibly self indulgent.
Well done you that’s a great achievement! I’m still trying to tone the tummy muscles but it seems to be taking forever. I’ve progressed onto a body combat class which is awesome I absolutely love going to the gym too 💪

@Justgonamless

Nutri ninja duel air fryer- £179.99 Changed my life!
Any recommendations greatly received, I’ve just bought one. It’s great for chips and battered fish and chicken oh and roast veg that’s all I’ve tried so far 😊

A donation to put a young woman through college, get a house and a degree. It was life changing.

alwayswrighty · 12/07/2021 22:52

My 2 divorces even though they were eye-wateringly expensive

Love my dogs but they're more family and even though I bought them you can't put a price on them

XenoBitch · 12/07/2021 23:01

My dog. Close second is my virtual reality headset.

@TurnStone a litre one, about half full. Didn't go everywhere but if defo needs a lot less fizzing up than water did .....

A bit prosaic but getting my oven professionally clean was the best birthday present I ever gave myself. I will never clean an oven again.
