Just marvelling at my soda stream. We used to buy SO much sparkling water the amount of plastic was dreadful. I'm so glad I bought it! has really made life better.

Also my quartz worktops.... was a splurge but bloody hell my kitchen is a beautiful place to be now. I can't stop looking at them!

And yes
Fizzy drinks, including water and sugar free, are diabolical for the teeth

ohnonotyetplease · 04/07/2021 17:43

The 2 hours per fortnight when a lovely professional cleaner comes to my house and helps me get on top of the mess. I do cleaning every day but having that help every fortnight just is so lovely. Better than any antidepressant I've ever tried for my mental health!
Also the money I spend on Snag tights - gorgeous quality, gorgeous colours Smile

Heiferr · 04/07/2021 17:59

Peloton Bike
Adoption fees for my two cats
Echo Dot for my daughters room. So much easier to communicate from one place in the house to another without shouting upstairs!

ElspethFlashman · 04/07/2021 18:03

My Pulleymaid!

We live in a wet Atlantic coast area so drying clothes is a challenge.

We bought this, stuck it up in the utility room and now we leave that door open the whole time but can keep the door into the kitchen closed.

So my clothes dry in the air circulating in the utility without a draught through the rest of the house.

Clothes are dry and aired in 24 hours all year round!

Our camper van and our Labrador. Both have been amazing for the whole family.

seven201 · 04/07/2021 18:14

Kitchenaid
Cordless vacuum
Sewing machine
Overlocker
Life membership of national trust (bought when I was early 30s after my mum died as she was very in to gardens). I did it on a whim despite my dh trying to talk me out of it.

All get lots of use

@mam0918

My IVF - wish I could have done it sooner.

Honestly I wish it had been free (like pregnancy is suppose to be) but the child I got and the end to a decade of TTC mental hell was definately worth it.

That's a lovely one. I'm on my fifth try of ivf this month. Really hoping it's 'the one' and I can feel like you soon! Congratulations @mam0918

@ssd

Op, does a soda stream make like pepsi max or lemonade?
Apologies @ssd only just had a chance to check back in! Yes you can buy various syrups I believe (not sure about branded ones) but I just have water and a slice of lemon or fresh mint

Loving reading through these and I'm making notes!
Agree re Mahabis and Otty mattress, both are fab.
Couldn't afford a hot water tap but I did get an extendable stretchy one and lord it makes such a huge difference !!! Who knew?!

Superking bed, v spendy mattress, ditto with pillows and duvet and then the highest thread count White Company sheets. Thinking about the cost of it all makes me feel a bit sick but my sleep quality is transformed, I am basically excited to get in to bed every day and it feels like real luxury.

catfunk · 04/07/2021 20:23

@StillSmallVoice

A small flat for my DS to live in. We took equity out of our hoke to buy it. He had serious mental health issues and substance abuse issues and was bouncing around from one shared house to another. Since he has had stable accommodation he has stopped drinking and using drugs, is working, ditched the dodgy mates, found a girlfriend and is happy.

Best money spent, ever.

@StillSmallVoice that's so lovely. He's lucky to have a mum like you!

Aye, but does it make irn bru Grin
Now we're talking 🤣
Lemonmelonsun · 04/07/2021 21:41

Oh I want the ilp lumea!!

For me recently it's goose down duvet. Our old one was heavy lumpy, awful.. So heavy to lift I still can't believe how light this duvet is! Changing the cover even! So easy it's floating on top of me... I got a summer version as well and I enjoy it evry single night (been over a year).

peaceanddove · 04/07/2021 21:48

Extended tummy tuck + full muscle repair + liposuction. Cost the best part of £10K and was worth every single penny.

Cupidity · 04/07/2021 21:49

Just over £1000 to get my teeth straightened. This was 15+ years ago but I still have the confidence to smile wide and often.

The standout purchase this year has been English Heritage membership. £60 for my annual pass and I can take upto 6 kids in with me for free. It means we've had lots of cheap days out and the dc have been able to invite their friends to keep them entertained.

Dehumidifier for drying clothes quickly inside. Brilliant.

Pure cotton bedding - feels lovely and much cooler in the Summer than a poly blend.

Ceiling fans in our bedrooms, makes Summer nights so much more comfortable.

Inflatable tent instead of one with poles - so much easier to get up and it means my Husband is happier to go camping (he isn't a natural camper).

Memory foam pillow, my shoulder and neck are much better.

StillSmallVoice · 04/07/2021 22:07

@catfunk he's a lovely boy who has cptsd because he grew up in an abusive environment. I couldn't leave because we were living in accommodation tied to evil ex's job.

I am so pleased. She's gorgeous. She's older, but no one would comment it the genders were reversed.

So all is looking good.Smile

StillSmallVoice · 04/07/2021 22:12

Thought for a moment I had posted on the wrong thread, but yesterday it is the one where we took a big chunk out of the equity on our house to provide stable accommodation for wayward son. Best money spent.

More in the spirit of this thread. Sage food processor. Stupid expensive. Best ever.

SteelMack · 04/07/2021 22:15

@JimLaheysWhiskeyBottle

This sounds very flashy, but my personal trainer. After two children, a husband who has high personal needs (a whole other thread) a demanding job, being overweight and rock bottom self confidence and self worth, he has changed my life. I adore my 2 hours on a Friday evening. He has fixed my wrecked stomach muscles so I no longer look 6 months pregnant, helped me to lose weight, given me confidence and taught me how to be systematic in my approach to things and life in general. I've just started MMA with him and I'm so very proud of myself. It was brutal training, but I couldn't stop smiling. I can't believe that I do the things I do at training. I don't tell anyone, as I still feel a bit wierd and like people would look at me and think "what's the point of that fatty training." But I've never felt better in my heart and my head. THE best money I've ever spent, even though it's incredibly self indulgent.
I love this post so much and I wish I could say the same. You should be extremely proud of yourself 😃
snowone · 04/07/2021 22:21

Oh I want a soda stream....I drink a lot of fizzy drinks, I don't like flat cold drinks! 😃

I also want a boiling tap when I finally get my new kitchen.

I think our house is the best money we have spent. It's a do-er upper but is close to DD school and in a cul-de-sac where she can play out to her hearts content.

fluffynotebook · 04/07/2021 22:50

Adoption fees for our beautiful cat... had her just over two years now and she's the cuddliest little cat I've ever known, loves to be held like a baby and fussed. Can't imagine life without her ❤️
