Just marvelling at my soda stream. We used to buy SO much sparkling water the amount of plastic was dreadful. I'm so glad I bought it! has really made life better.

Also my quartz worktops.... was a splurge but bloody hell my kitchen is a beautiful place to be now. I can't stop looking at them!

Karcher window cleaner

Living in a static van in the garden whilst we renovate. Not only is it great for cleaning the windows, but also sucking condensation off the windows and in the bathroom to reduce mould. Wonderful!

BB hug me when I was pregnant with DC1. I still cant believe a pillow costs that much but it was worth every penny.

Those Tomie eggs. Nothing has been played with more now DD1 is 2.

Prescription sunglasses

Littlepaws18 · 04/07/2021 11:57

Mom to be massage and pedicure- it's the best thing I've done this year!!!

Travielkapelka · 04/07/2021 12:00

Private health insurance. It gave my husband at least 2 years of good health he wouldn’t have had on the NHS

And on a more mundane level, a hot water tap. Life changing

My two dogs
My breast implants

ThreeKneeRepeater · 04/07/2021 12:03

Laser eye surgery.
Costly at the time but has since saved me a fortune in specs, contact lenses, solutions, and prescription sunglasses and goggles.

My dishwasher. I know for most on MN they're considered essential but I'd always got by without. Working long hours at the hospital through the pandemic meant housework was getting on top of me. Now I can just bung everything in the dishwasher before I spray and wipe the sides. Kitchen cleaned in 5 minutes.

€50 for our dog.

Flight to Sicily when I was 23, met future Mr Conyo.

€100 tent - we've had some amazing holidays in beautiful places, and booking another as we speak (obv I'm in Spain, we camp in Spain, great weather!).

The Saab: cheap second hand, it's 23 years old and hasn't given us any problems in the ten years it's been ours. Classic shape, reliable, surprisingly huge boot space for our camping stuff and the dog.

@ssd

Op, does a soda stream make like pepsi max or lemonade?
You can get flavoured syrups to add to the fizzy water.
BikeRunSki · 04/07/2021 12:18

Prescription goggles

delilahbucket · 04/07/2021 12:19

Jack Wolfskin winter parka. I stayed warm and dry all winter and will do for many more.
Braun multi hand blender. Gets used constantly and it goes in the dishwasher when done.

KikiniBamalam · 04/07/2021 12:23

Fans for each room.

Jaxhog · 04/07/2021 12:27

My house! Been here 30+ years and still love it as much as the first day I moved in.

TangoWhiskyAlphaTango · 04/07/2021 12:29

Having my front 4 teeth veneered. Cost me 2.5k but the best money I ever spent as they completely changed my look.

Echobelly · 04/07/2021 12:30

Mahabi slippers at the beginning of lockdown

Exercise bike-desk in winter lockdown

Getting carpenter to make built-in wardrobe in kids' bedroom in our last place - it was a small room, but the full-heigh wardrobe meant it had loads of storage.

ahoyshipmates · 04/07/2021 12:31

£49 for a jacket in 1992. It's still going strong and I wear it loads.

Nitgel · 04/07/2021 12:32

Babylis heated rollers.. easy to use and long lasting curls

Purplecatshopaholic · 04/07/2021 12:33

Not counting my amazing pets, it’s my Phillips Lumia for sure.

EastWestWhosBest · 04/07/2021 12:35

The cat’s adoption fee.
Removal people when we moved house.

Mrbob · 04/07/2021 12:36

Ugg boots. 11 years in and counting (I wear them as slippers not outside!)

M&S knickers last FOREVER and cost bugger all in the first place

AlfonsoTheMango · 04/07/2021 12:39

My house. It's a Victorian money pit and makes me want to weep at the constant expenditure for repairs, maintenance and improvements but it's spacious and light and has a garden.

luvvaduck · 04/07/2021 12:40

Camper van. Bought third-hand 12 years ago. Old-fashioned-looking van, dated upholstery, nothing to get excited about. I spent £15,000 and it felt like a huge indulgence. I could sell it tomorrow for £10,000 and in the meantime it's given me hundreds of weeks and weekends away, has served as Covid accommodation for visiting friends (they've slept in it and we've socialised in the garden). I've been able to attend weddings and parties and stay over in it without running up hotel costs, attend festivals and conferences and trundle round Europe on touring holidays. I also go on regular camping trips with friends and my van serves as a shelter for those in tents during wet weather. It's really improved my life — and it passed its MOT with only new windscreen wipers last week.

Ilovelblue · 04/07/2021 12:41

My cordless hedge trimmers last year. No idea why I struggled with the corded version for so many years (and sliced through the cable numerous times). These are so light, I can have the job done in a third of the time it used to take.

StillSmallVoice · 04/07/2021 12:47

A small flat for my DS to live in. We took equity out of our hoke to buy it. He had serious mental health issues and substance abuse issues and was bouncing around from one shared house to another. Since he has had stable accommodation he has stopped drinking and using drugs, is working, ditched the dodgy mates, found a girlfriend and is happy.

Best money spent, ever.
