Just marvelling at my soda stream. We used to buy SO much sparkling water the amount of plastic was dreadful. I'm so glad I bought it! has really made life better.

Also my quartz worktops.... was a splurge but bloody hell my kitchen is a beautiful place to be now. I can't stop looking at them!

@seven201 good luck, my fifth ivf was the one!

catfunk · 05/07/2021 23:24

@Mamanyt

Best money EVER? The tray with cup holder that fits over my walker. The day I got home after having my stroke, I managed to make coffee and fix myself a bowl of cereal! I was so excited until I realized I had no way to get it to my chair to eat it! Had to call my neighbor to bring my prepared food to me. It was such a blow, to be at a dead stop over something like that. Now, I'm pretty self-sufficient again!
@Mamanyt I LOVE this! Does your Walker have wheels? Or do you have to fill everything only half way ?

My share of our marriage license

@NCasnottooutmyself

Other than my house it would have to be my Dyson hairdryer. Dries my hair in half the time, it’s so quiet and leaves my hair poker straight with no need to go over with straighteners which has really improved the overall condition of my hair.

Also my shark cordless vacuum, use it daily.

@NCasnottooutmyself is it an air wrap ? I'm considering that next ....

£8 on a George at Asda basic rice cooker which is now in its tenth year of weekly use.

littlepieces · 05/07/2021 23:35

Laser eye surgery. Absolutely life changing.

me109f · 05/07/2021 23:39

Foreign travel. Most coveted memories ever, and would never be the same if repeated.

Pennineway2021 · 05/07/2021 23:43

Botox.
Honestly! I haven't gone for the full love island look, I just no longer look sad, tired and angry. Its improved every interaction I have.

Lunaduckdrop · 05/07/2021 23:46

Goose feather pillow. Much more comfortable than others. Has lasted for ages.

MamaJustKilledAMan · 05/07/2021 23:48

£20 to a "friend" that asked to lend it from me. Said friend was a bit of a cow, manipulative, told lies, stirred shit and caused constant drama.
When I asked for it back on the day she promised to repay it she avoided me like the plague, constant excuses as to why she couldn't give me it back. I cut her off.
Best money I ever spent cause it only cost me £20 to get rid of her in the end 😂

@Lemonmelonsun

Oh I want the ilp lumea!!

For me recently it's goose down duvet. Our old one was heavy lumpy, awful.. So heavy to lift I still can't believe how light this duvet is! Changing the cover even! So easy it's floating on top of me... I got a summer version as well and I enjoy it evry single night (been over a year).

Are you happy with the cruelty though ? Couldn’t you have found a better route to good sleep than animal abuse ? Genuinely curious - I can’t believe anyone these days doesn’t know the cost of down to the birds be it duck or goose.

My Jack Russell terrier I 2008 £200 and worth every Penny…sadly she died last year but have had another and was also £200 .She is 6 now and absolutely adore her !!💕

NCasnottooutmyself · 06/07/2021 00:04

@catfunk I purchased the air wrap first and the initial curl and volume was great but unless I used a lot of styling products they always fell flat after a few hours. I sold it after a few months and quite honestly didn’t think it was worth the price. I have friends that use it daily and swear by it though and their hair always looks like great.

The hairdryer on its own however is amazing, definitely my best self care purchase and well worth the price tag.

Business-class tickets on long-haul flights. My first trip was when I turned 50.

TomBradysLeftKneecap · 06/07/2021 00:23

Mine would be our beach house but I'm 100% buying way too much stuff from this tread. @Jloco Particularly interested in hearing about the Velveteer. That might be the perfect thing to put in my daughter's starting Uni present.

HaveringWavering · 06/07/2021 00:32

Two rounds of IVF, resulting in the most perfect little boy in the world, who starts school this year. When he is old enough, I will tell him we kept the receipt!

On a more frivolous note, the diamond studs that I bought myself for my 40th. Have worn them every day for 8 years.

@fudgesmummy

£450 nearly 2 years ago on a private MRI scan after my GP refused to refer me for one to try and get to the bottom of my back pain I was diagnosed with Stage one ovarian cancer 2 weeks later and 3 weeks later I had major abdominal surgery and had a ovarian tumour removed that weighed 50lb
Bloody hell!!!!!!! That tops anything else on here. Good call that saved your life! Thanks
SunflowerGiraffe · 06/07/2021 01:15

@MamaMia252

IVF was the best money we ever spent. I now have three beautiful children, children I once thought I would never have. Worth every penny 💖💖💖

What a lovely thread OP. It's really lifted my spirits to read all of these positive stories. Thank you. Smile

Bit random but bark chippings for flower beds in the garden. About £500 but hopefully the end of hours of weeding.

Is that why people put down bark chippings on flower beds Shock

The penny has just dropped. Wow! Can't believe I didn't know this and I'm 37 years old !

Does it really stop the weeds coming through though??

Not entirely, but it will to some extent.

However: beware the spiders!!!

Mamanyt · 06/07/2021 01:42

@catfunk My walker had two wheels in front, and skids on the back. I can fill things to within about an inch of the top. More than that tends to slosh over.

Mamanyt · 06/07/2021 01:42

Has, not had, @catfunk

Snorkelface · 06/07/2021 04:32

Diamonds. I bought the perfect diamond ring for myself for my 50th birthday. I'd nearly broken myself work-wise over the four years before and had been through a tricky few years generally. It represents something the start of something sparkly and new.

Like others a rescue cat who I can hear snoring in the bedroom above me. Louder than a human. Love every fluffy noisy bit of him.
