Good, why has it taken this long.

OP posts:
Chickpeasorchips · 26/06/2021 19:02

He's going for the lovely Nadhim Zahawi who seems like a nice trustworthy chap who only has the nation's health at heart Wink

AbsolutelyPatsy · 26/06/2021 19:03

john major and edwina currie were admitted to years after the event i think

Chickpeasorchips · 26/06/2021 19:03

I wonder about the timing of this. What else is going on we are missing?

Whatever was going to be on the front pages of tomorrows newspapers about him

MrsDThomas · 26/06/2021 19:04

Good riddance. He’s a 1st class cunt.

RaginaFalangi · 26/06/2021 19:04

Now just the rest of the tories to go

Chickpeasorchips · 26/06/2021 19:05

john major and edwina currie were admitted to years after the event I think

I agree, a long time after iirc. Also they weren't health minister telling people to distance in a pandemic Confused

Nat6999 · 26/06/2021 19:05

Nicolastuffedone In his resignation speech he said he has gone to be with his children which suggests Martha has told him to get lost.

MorganSeventh · 26/06/2021 19:05

John Major and Edwina Curry were also not breaching the pandemic rules that one of them was responsible for implementing...

MagicSummer · 26/06/2021 19:05

@RaginaFalangi - you will have a VERY long time to wait.

Guavafish · 26/06/2021 19:06

Leaked cctv from ministry … worrying stuff must have been Boris or Gove!

Blossomtoes · 26/06/2021 19:07

@AbsolutelyPatsy

no doubt hancock will be back
Doesn’t look like it

Grassroots anger is such that Hancock could be deselected as the party’s candidate. One local activist said: “There is fury within the constituency party. If he goes as minister which he will, I imagine, I can’t see him surviving for long as MP.

At a meeting of Suffolk Conservatives on Friday evening, Hancock made a speech. His only public support came from Rachel Hood, a Tory councillor who is married to the leading racehorse trainer John Gosden. Hood donated £10,000 to Hancock in 2018.

I for one am sorry to see him hounded out. No one is perfect and I’m sure that very few people could put their hand on their heart and say that they have followed absolutely every directive re COVID to the letter
I could. We have followed it to the letter. At great personal cost, too.

He told Martha he was leaving her.

@AbsolutelyPatsy

no gove, has anyone heard how he pronounces covid?

hancock will be back
it was The Sun that did it

That it was The Sun wot did it, makes me wonder whether they are starting to change their tune on this bunch of muppets and will not be so supportive of their ineptness in future.

One can hope can't one.

SpindleWhorl · 26/06/2021 19:08

It's not about an affair or even a rule breach, I don't imagine.

It's about what evidence has been given not to the Select Committees but to the Sun, Sunday Times etc, about negligence, corruption and lies - and how much Johnson already knew.

The Sunday papers will sure be interesting.

NeverFull · 26/06/2021 19:09

@MrsDThomas

Good riddance. He’s a 1st class cunt.
Cunts are warm and inviting. They’re the setting for miracles. Why do we use part of the female anatomy as a vicious insult? Confused
Bagamoyo1 · 26/06/2021 19:09

@DareIask

I'm no fan but let's face it, if everyone who had broken a rule or had a bit on the side was sacked there wouldn't be many left working.

I don't like the way he was spied on and exposed either. That wouldn't be tolerated in the wider working world.

What an idiot though

Yes, none of us are perfect and we all make mistakes and bad decisions. But the point is, if you put yourself up there on the moral high ground, make rules for others to follow, preach about those rules, and get paid handsomely for doing so - then you really really need to follow those rules yourself.
WildRosie · 26/06/2021 19:09

@MorganSeventh

What concerns me is this appears to have been engineered by Cummings, given his unsuccessful attack on Hancock two weeks ago, which means cabinet membership is being dictated by someone without even a veneer of electoral accountability. We have no idea who he's working for, or if he's just in it for himself and the LOLs.
I know what you mean. To the best of my knowledge, Dominic Cummings was neither a Civil Servant nor a Member of Parliament, which made him unaccountable. Yet he had access to the highest office in Government and had a fair bit of clout while he was there. It's nothing new - Margaret Thatcher had her own Economic Adviser in the shape of Sir Alan Walters - but it beggars belief.
cariadlet · 26/06/2021 19:09

@MagicSummer

I don't remember there being this much fuss when the John Major/Edwina Currie was discovered! Neither resigned.
That only came out later, didn't it?

Besides, the problem here isn't the marital infidelity; it's the hypocrisy and possible corruption (concerning her appointment). Like Cummings and Barnard Castle - there was the slogan of "We're all in this together" whereas in reality, it had always been one rule for the people at the top and another rule for the rest of us.

Hancock criticised Neil Ferguson's behaviour back in May last year and welcomed his resignation but somehow thought that the rules didn't apply to himself.

I so hope you’re right.

Hands. Face. Space. Everybody. The Twat

KarenofSparta · 26/06/2021 19:11

So many have followed Covid requirements To The Letter. Including very personal situations such as funerals, births & being with seriously ill loved ones in hospital.

Of course people are going to react.

But they aren’t all the health secretary are they
vaccinesforall · 26/06/2021 19:13

He has been able to choose the story - set the narrative - rewrite history.

He has been able to resign for breaching social distancing, not the dodgy contracts, not the failures during the pandemic, not the excess deaths, not the damage to the NHS.

Don't be naive - Hancock is the winner here and his family will be much happier that he has been found guilty of social distancing rather than the alternatives. He is getting off very lightly.

He's not been 'hounded out'

There is far more to this that I think will come out. Already it's known he has been using private email.
Then there's friends for job etc
