Good, why has it taken this long.

OP posts:

So it does sound as though there is still a battle raging between Carrie and Dominic Cummings. But Hancock (poor man in her Majesty's view) has got caught in the cross fire.

Roussette · 28/06/2021 18:55

Self serving the lot of them.

He was in his uniform of hard hat and hi viz jacket again today and made himself look like a complete fool implying he sacked MH. When all he did was back him to the hilt with his usual 'I've accepted his apology and the matter is closed'

Next time Johnson does his "I've accepted his apology and the matter is closed" act surely the next question everyone is going to ask is, is that in the same way as the Hancock scandal was?
Roussette · 28/06/2021 19:03

Yes!
He did it with Cummings too. I so enjoyed the covid pressers when all that was asked was about Cummings after he said that 😂🤣

Buckland was fabulously entertaining on the Today programme this morning, if you like listening to politicans totally at sea.
Vikki69 · 28/06/2021 19:20

What was wrong with him?
Between him and boris. Saved us all

Roussette · 28/06/2021 19:27

Is Buckland the Justice Secretary? If so, I heard a load of waffle on one of the channels.

We know politicians don't actually answer questions but they answer even less when something like this happens. I presume the draw straws as to who comes out to take the flak....

Tealightsandd · 28/06/2021 19:39

Yep. And funded by us, the taxpayer.

Probably the same interview. Curiously for a Justice Secretary he was unable to say whether or not he thought it important for people to follow rules.

Yes, he was on Today as well yesterday.

CovidCorvid · 29/06/2021 07:50

The papers have reported Gina has moved in with him. Their poor kids, are they just expecting the kids to all visit next weekend and play happy, blended families?

Roussette · 29/06/2021 07:56

@MercyBooth

Ridiculous man. Calling it 'guidance' when in fact it was 'law' and then going on about not hugging 'loved ones'.

Basically the Justice Secretary is talking out his arse... says it all.

YouthfulIndiscretion · 29/06/2021 08:11

I don’t think social distancing was ever law was it? It would have been illegal (at some points) for him to meet her in a hotel for a quickie, but given that they were both in the same office legally in the cctv footage, the only thing we’ve got evidence of is that they didn’t stay 2 metres apart while they were there.

Not defending him, because I’d be staggered if they didn’t break the law as well, and in many ways carrying on a full-blown affair actually in your office when you’re meant to be doing one of the country’s most important jobs is even worse even if legal.

Peregrina · 29/06/2021 08:11

This has been the problem though - we haven't known what was 'guidance' and what was 'law'. So people have been fined for breaking the law, not realising that it was law.

No one in the Government can use that excuse. Not bothering to read the legislation that they have just passed does not excuse their ignorance of the law.

Frownette · 29/06/2021 08:21

@vaccinesforall yeah not sure - think this time hasn't been very easy for many of us. I always thought Matt Hancock was a bit too upset under pressure of it all but lord knows what went on with his wife

Well the Prime Minister didn't bother to read his oven ready Brexit deal and seems surprised by its content, so why should a lowly minister read the laws that they are passing - often by statutory instrument without parliamentary scrutiny.
