I adore a plain, beautifully cooked and seasoned omelette. At most with a few chopped herbs but cooked on its own is fine. Served with a green salad - something like fresh little gem lettuce leaves or pea shoots - dressed lightly with lemon and olive oil.

@toffeebutterpopcorn

Actually - bread and butter. Good old whole meal, lumpy bread with a crunchy crust and lightly salted butter.

Also this - crusty bread and Irish butter 😋

@Marguerite2000 I decided the other day that if I could only eat one thing for the rest of my life, it would be bread/toast and Marmite. I have eaten it nearly every day since I was a very small child.

Really good homemade soup and crusty bread or sourdough.

Place marking for inspiration.

Tonight I did pasta with both canned tomatoes and halved raw cherry tomatoes dressed with olive oil and sea salt.

Cheese on toast
Fried scallops and prawns with fried bacon and served with wheaten bread. Also maybe some fried tomatoes.

Love the IKEA fish paste. Think it's made from cod Roe. We were at Ikea last week but they didn't have it unfortunately. Dh thinks the same as you about it but I just love it and sometimes eat it straight from the tube as I know there is no way Dh will go even remotely near it.

Brussel sprouts topped with grated mature cheese.
Seriously.
Don’t knock it til you’ve tried it

All those people saying macaroni cheese can you tell me how you do this simply (or point me to a simple recipe) it seems to take me well over an hour to prep a macaroni cheese when I do it!!

@MsFogi boil pasta, drain.
Use same pan, addd double cream, heat til starts to thicken, squeeze of lemon juice, salt, cheese and blob of mustard, stir, add pasta back in.
Not the most valley light resin but simple and delicious, much less faff than a roux and all that
