Anyone else seen the news?? Another baby on the way, relationship on the rocks, or good old fashioned age gap love?

Maybe it’s at the discretion of the priest? My cousin had her second wedding in a Catholic Church. They were told that because she wasn’t married for the first time in a Catholic Church, in the eyes of the catholic church she had never been married at all.

Also, my mum is catholic and my dad C of E. They married in a Catholic Church. Dad didn’t have to convert but he did have to attend a marriage course (mid sixties). I’m not sure a Catholic priest is the best person to give marriage lessons!

Ugh. Imagine that heaving itself onto you on your wedding night.

Mind doing it in secret was the only right thing to do, a big celebration right now would have been fucking tasteless given the utter fucktastrophe he’s made of handling the pandemic and the colossal amount of (preventable) deaths.

Devlesko · 29/05/2021 20:41

I'm sure the church would do anything for a back hander, cmon.

Serpenta · 29/05/2021 20:41

I'm trying to imagine a wedding night with Boris Johnson. If I were the 'lucky' bride I'd be knocking back the brandies whilst standing at the altar.

Northernlurker · 29/05/2021 20:43

So the Catholic Church is happy to give countenance to a ceremony involving a much married man with a history of adultery and abortion?
Crikey!

Why would you do that to yourself?

If this is true I think there would rightly be huge outcry, the hypocrisy is blinding.... the rules are very clear and obstruct so many from a proper marriage regardless of the circumstances of their previous split.

He's just hefted another dead cat on to the table.

Blondeshavemorefun · 29/05/2021 20:47

Surely uou can’t just change your wedding date

You need the bans or the official bit where you register your intent to marry

We had to redo ours as wedding cancelled last year

And as new date need to redo

Ostara212 · 29/05/2021 20:47

This one is quite good in PR terms.
MaggieFS · 29/05/2021 20:47

Don't they have to have banns read?

RickiTarr · 29/05/2021 20:47

@Heathrug

She’s made it happen after having the baby.
What does that mean?
MercyBooth · 29/05/2021 20:48

the save the date cards for July 2022 were to throw journos off the scent.

Errr I think they have already done it before Hmm

But how would that work? If it was going to be leaked it would be anyway save the date cards or not.
BlatantlyNameChanged · 29/05/2021 20:51

You don't have to have banns read if you intend to marry at short notice, you can apply for a common license instead. I'm guessing there'll have been some greasing of the wheels to ensure that the common license was granted.

Serpenta · 29/05/2021 20:51

They've done it before but I suspect he'd have extra GUSTO on his wedding night. Quoting Cicero as he ejaculated, belting out Rule Britannia, calling out Maggie Thatcher's name

And so on.

BedknobsNoBroomsticks · 29/05/2021 20:51

I think Carrie knows what she is doing. She seems like she is in control of their relationship and the country.

Gladimnotcampinginthisweather · 29/05/2021 20:51

Isn't power meant to be the greatest aphrodisiac?

JinglingHellsBells · 29/05/2021 20:52

I don't think Carrie expects or intends it to last.

It will serve her purpose for a while just as it will his.
Hers is getting into politics without being elected. His- well he's flattered someone almost half his age fancies him.

CoronaBanana · 29/05/2021 20:52

Oh well, I wish them well 🥂

ask the former wives to confirm?

I don't know the legality of banns but Westminster Cathedral is a royal peculiar, I think they do what they like, so to speak.
TatoAndBeans · 29/05/2021 20:53

Marital privilege means you cannot be compelled to testify against your spouse. What were/are they worried about being charged with?

Serpenta · 29/05/2021 20:54

@MaggieFS

I would have thought so. Bit odd it didn't leak.

Or maybe he's done a Mick Jagger* and tricked her into thinking it's a legit ceremony when actually it's not. And the 'priest' was actually an old chum from Eton, Gussie Cholmleigh-Finkerton, having a bit of a wheeze.

*Jerry Hall was under the impression their Buddhist beach ceremony was legally binding. Turns out it wasn't.
