Anyone else seen the news?? Another baby on the way, relationship on the rocks, or good old fashioned age gap love?

I have a feeling Boris will have Carrie's blessing to have his ghastly needs met elsewhere now that she's got what she wanted in the way of a child and official first lady status.

DoctorTwo · 29/05/2021 21:26

Carrie has created a vacancy then.

vera99 · 29/05/2021 21:26

Statistically 3rd marriages have a 20% survival rate. Considering his numerous affairs we can probably cut that more than in half again.

doubleshotespresso · 29/05/2021 21:27

@motogogo

Telegraph are reporting it. Wasn't aware Catholic Churches allowed divorcees to marry?
They don't ,-)
paradyning · 29/05/2021 21:28

Has the law changed so you can be PM and be a Catholic or is this country still prejudicial?

(I know you can be married to an RC, see Cherie Blair - but didn't TB have to wait til he left office until he converted?)

vera99 · 29/05/2021 21:28

For baptised Catholics, the Church only recognises a marriage in a Catholic Church by a priest as a valid marriage. Boris' previous two "marriages" were not conducted within the Church so are not considered to be marriages. The Church could care less what the State says is a marriage. In the eyes of the Church, this is his first marriage.

donquixotedelamancha · 29/05/2021 21:30

What a thread if bitchy comments

He's the PM. He's cheated on every relationship he's ever had. Now he suddenly gets married in the middle of a PR disaster, and you think criticising him is bitchy?

Tubbs99 · 29/05/2021 21:30

Carrie has an “interesting” background. Turns out she is the product of an affair between her mother Josephine McAfee and Matthew Symonds. Her mother was working at The Independant and he co-founded it. He was also married with kids at the time.
Matthew is the illegitimate son of John Bevan who edited the Guardian.
Matthew’s mother Anne Symonds is also believed to be the illegitimate daughter of Prime Minister Asquith.
Christ no wonder her morals are iffy with a background like that. Guess it’s in the genes.

vera99 · 29/05/2021 21:30

He must spend a huge part of his life in the confession box the amount of lies he tells

Sweetslumber · 29/05/2021 21:31

I was also going to say I bet they had a blessing at the cathedral rather than the full Catholic marriage ceremony. (Great for the ‘wedding photos’, no long boring mass for Boris to endure - he’s a busy man you know). I can’t see BJ sitting through the whole Catholic ceremony.
The actual marriage might have taken place at a registry office.

Couldn't care less. Could care less would mean they do care.

Also this isn't true.

I don't think the law has changed...

This is what I am thinking must have happened. Well at least I hope so.

I heard 'ghastly needs' in Lady Violet Crawley's voice. Grin

I'd certainly be encouraging him to get out there and mingle with the young ladies of Westminster.

'no need to be home early and no need to wake me when you get in. toodles, my love'

Boris and Carrie married?
Blossomtoes · 29/05/2021 21:36

@Clavinova

She not only had an affair with a married man, she had an affair with a married man who left his wife when she was suffering from cancer.

Which is not true.
Marina Wheeler was diagnosed with cancer in May 2019 - having separated from Boris Johnson in the summer of 2018. In fact Marina Wheeler had already obtained a decree nisi when she was diagnosed with cancer.

Oh ffs, Clav, you never miss a chance, do you?
DennySaid · 29/05/2021 21:36

On the validity of previous marriages issue: there are canon lawyers on Twitter saying his previous marriages aren't valid (or at the very least - are 'subject to a degree of nullity' which might be enough to negate them) specifically because he was baptised a Catholic before any of them took place.

vera99 · 29/05/2021 21:36

Lies, half-truths, and diversions are more than welcome on this thread - it's what the happy couple would want after all. I hope the misery crisps on a bench crowd aren't going to begrudge them a two-week honeymoon somewhere exotic rather than a bell tent in Scotland.

Do you have any idea how vicious you sound describing human beings - children at the time - as “illegitimate”? You belong in a museum of you think that is an acceptable way to speak.

Criticise the adultery, (where adultery happened,) and the adulterers, not the children.

It's going to be interesting.

If he's converted back to Catholicism, there's this weird impediment around appointing Anglican Bishops.

As people say, Tony Blair waited until he'd left office, to avoid the difficulties.

It's about time this stuff ceased to be an issue.

thecatfromjapan · 29/05/2021 21:39

I wonder if that might be a factor in him getting the go-ahead for a Catholic marriage?

Presumably, he's reconverted, so we now (finally) have the precedent set of a Catholic PM.

That's a significant thing for the Catholic Church in the U.K.

museumum · 29/05/2021 21:41

You don’t have to be Catholic to marry in a Catholic Church!! You just have to agree to any children being brought up Catholic.
And the Catholic Church don’t recognise non-religious weddings so registry office weddings don’t count as actual weddings / divorced.

They should believe in Britain and take to a B&B in Blackpool for ten days. A patriotic honeymoon, none of this gadding off to johnny foreigner land
RubyViolet · 29/05/2021 21:42

Obviously getting married before he has to announce another round of restrictions, hopefully not another lockdown.

vera99 · 29/05/2021 21:42

Looks like Jacob Rees-Mogg has got to him over a bottle of good claret and educated him as to the true faith. Oh, and he lied about the wedding being next year - add it to the book Clav.
