@Lostinacloud

Ah, i see a handy new variant has arrived on the scene right before a travel review and a few weeks short of the next bullshit ‘freedom’ day. Ffs Angry
@Lostinacloud I know 😔
LivinLaVidaLoki · 24/06/2021 06:55

Saw a news article today that said the aviation industry puts approx £109 billion pounds a year into the UK economy.
Yet our transport minister is letting it sink. If it ain't a train he couldn't give a shit.

GiveMeNovocain · 24/06/2021 07:01

The vaccine works well against delta plus. I'm hoping after the delta overreaction they might be more measured about this one, but variants are incredibly scary makes better headlines

Worldgonecrazy · 24/06/2021 10:45

I think it got called delta plus because news readers would struggle to pronounce epsilon without falling over their words. For some reason it’s a bit of a mouthful when inserted into a sentence.

It will be even more fun by the time we get to mu, nu, and xi Grin

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 10:47

I’m disappointed as a former Greek scholar 😂 Was looking forward to showing off

LivinLaVidaLoki · 24/06/2021 11:33

Me too @WouldBeGood
About the only time my greek-ness would serve any use aside from teaching people swear words..... Grin

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 11:45

I did Ancient Greek a oretty ancient time ago 😂

I like your Greek swear words, @LivinLaVidaLoki

BIoodyStupidJohnson · 24/06/2021 12:03

I think Delta Plus sounds like a service offered by Parcelforce.

And Epsilon has the ring of a business event hosted by Alan Partridge.

(I didn't do Greek at school, can you tell? Grin)

justasking111 · 24/06/2021 12:20

I read that they were concerned about running out of Greek letters, which is somewhat revealing, not in a good way though

Rolling week tests two weeks ago Wales did 18k tests. One week ago 39k tests. March 2.6k tests in a week. How is this happening??

Paranoia over every hayfever symptom?

Fortunately my hayfever presents mainly as sinus headaches.

justasking111 · 24/06/2021 13:31

Well hayfever is testing positive. Are they counting lateral flow tests??

justasking111 · 24/06/2021 13:32

My hayfever today running nose, sinus headache, cough. I'm dying aren't I??

Ostara212 · 24/06/2021 13:37

I've got dreadful hayfever too, it's putting me off going out which is stupid when you live in a rabbit hutch. I had to take my mask off in the supermarket yesterday. Taking two anti histamine in the AM.

I just posted on Relationships about another covid problem, that of friendships.

The wreckage of the lockdown and scaremongering just goes on and on. I'm trying to stay cheerful....but not fakely cheerful because that makes things seem worse?

I've given up on the book thread i think, though I am sitting on my hands to avoid posting certain things!

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 13:38

In Scotland people are testing before the school holidays, bizarrely. Record tests yesterday.

Have you got the figures @WouldBeGood
justasking111 · 24/06/2021 13:42

Sticking a Qtip up a kids nose etc has been banned as a test in the USA

Is that because they're going on holiday maybe?
WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 13:53

We’re not allowed to ho anywhere though @Ostara212

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 13:54

I think (may be wrong) that there were 40,000 tests reported yesterday; usual is about 18,000, but that might be wrong.

Ostara212 · 24/06/2021 13:55

So in Scotland, you can't go to another part of Scotland for a break?

Sorry, it's hard to keep up.

WouldBeGood · 24/06/2021 13:59

Nowhere a test is required for @Ostara212

It's weird isn't it I never thought people would go for Operation Moonshot, but here we are.

I got a call today from the housing association i rent from They want to do a gas safety check at the end of July . Lets hope its not like last September eh? Where he turned up looking terrified, was in the flat for less than 5 minutes. And left without even doing a form Which gas engineer and tenant are supposed to sign by law. All because he had been terrified. I wonder how many gas checks were "completed" like this. Due to fear. And yes i had a mask on during this visit. I phoned the HA after he had left and explained what had happened. Which i HAD to do as many HAs (including this one) have form for sending letters afterwards saying it was you (the tenant) who wouldnt grant access. A little while later someone else came back with the form , quickly handed it to me and left because the HA chased it up. Without this form i had no proof that he had even been here and i didnt want to be accused of not letting him in.
