MozzchopsThirty · 05/05/2021 19:03

I bought a pea shoot and garlic stir fry mix!!!!!
A bloody stir fry mix, I mean how can it be better than any other stir fry?
It was amazing Smile

And their Chinese food is so much better than a takeaway

And their sweet chilli beetroot is the best

Why? Why? Why?

These are not fancy foods???? These are M&S foods
(And I can't afford to shop there)

I love their all butter biscuits, Swiss chocolate boxes and £10 Belgian chocolate box with a black ribbon. I love their fruit and veg department, rotisserie chicken, cheeses and fish. Can’t comment much on ready meals.
We can’t afford to shop in M&S for everything but do bits and pieces when things are on offer or for occasions or fruits for DD.

buckleten · 05/05/2021 20:09

I love nearly all of their food! Especially the breads and bakery, biscuits, fresh produce, chocolate, and ready meals, though we did have a curry recently which was mediocre, hopefully a one off..

andivfmakes3 · 05/05/2021 20:10

Oh god the dirty fries are amazing!

I love the boxes of extra chocolatey milk chocolate biscuits

The tins of shortbread

Cookie dough bites

Everything in the cake aisle 🤦‍♀️

The packs of cookies that are always on 3 for 2

The Fresh fruit salad with grapes and little bits of jelly

I blame M&S for enthusiastically eating for 3 when I was pregnant with twins last year

Ooh that reminds me my Sparks reward this week is a box of Belgian truffles 😋

covetingthepreciousthings · 05/05/2021 20:12

The bakery is amazing, the freshly sliced boule and chocolate twists.

TheBullfinch · 05/05/2021 20:13

Sugar, fat, salt.

That's it. They really know how to hit the spot juuust right.

Even the percy pigs are amazing and dont get me started on the macarons.

I like how fresh the fruit and veg is too, compared to some (Sainsburys, I'm looking at you with your wilted salads and your shrivelled berries). Tired of getting things about to go out of date in my online deliveries.

Yes, gorgeous food but not healthy if eaten regularly.

ChippyDucks150 · 05/05/2021 20:15

Even their potatoes are nicer. How can this be???

wheresmymojo · 05/05/2021 20:16

@BeyondMyWits

Their food is ok as a quick substitute. But we tend to use it to try something new, then find a recipe if we liked it.

Like the butter chicken, nice but too salty and not enough chicken. So found a recipe and had a go... tastes great. But we would not have had it if we hadn't tried something new to us...

But their custard filled choux buns are perfect, no point even trying to make a nicer version.

I've just finished an M&S custard choux bun!
ChippyDucks150 · 05/05/2021 20:17

My ds adores their four cheese ravioli. The best ever lasagne is the only ship bought lasagne that I like. Even their frozen burgers are amazing on their brioche buns.

TheVolturi · 05/05/2021 20:17

Oh I'm so hungry reading this! Off to m&s tomorrow I think!

Zenithbear · 05/05/2021 20:23

I love their biscuits and fruit bread and
Caramelised onion filled pasta,
Chicken kievs,
Pizzas,
Crisps,
And loads more...
We shop there once a month and would be more than that but the nearest one is 20 minutes away.

lostlife · 05/05/2021 20:24

@Oly4

I don’t love everything from M&S but some things are amazing. Like their fresh curries, their massive crumpets, their tapas range. And their £6 rotisserie chicken is just ace.
Their chicken has a massive more number of calories than Ocado

Much of M&S food is just well packaged junk- full of sweeteners to disguise poor quality ingredients

Its a bit like Bakers dog food

Twinkie01 · 05/05/2021 20:27

Their lasagne is the only one the kids will eat, I'll even eat it and lasagne is pretty rank IMO.

Bacon and maple crisps are amazing.

Sushi is ok.

Cocktail beetroot nice.

I get good discounts with sparks card so tend to shop in there over anywhere else because with all special offers it's nit much more expensive than Tesco.

cyclingmad · 05/05/2021 20:31

I love M&S, I feel more inspired in picking stuff to eat then I do when I go to Tesco. Perhaps its the packaging too.

Anywsybi loved Xmas time they had this truffle potato mash! So silky smooth and only £3, enough to portion into 2 or 3 servings if your really doing portion control properly lol.

Also they had a truffle cheese cauliflower side dish at one point

I like their gastro mac n cheese but do find it salty then again I don't eat alot of salt generally so most things will always taste salty.

I like there cookie 3 for 2 packs.

GloriaSilver · 05/05/2021 20:35

The £6 stir fry is good. The Mexican 3 layer dip, no one has mentioned it, it’s bloody amazing. Try it.
I haven’t tried the custard cloud buns. Might pop in tomorrow, I work near an M and S.

GloriaSilver · 05/05/2021 20:35

Custard choux

DenisetheMenace · 05/05/2021 20:37

Sorry, tried it a few times, seriously underwhelmed.

ShoppingPrecinctPrincess · 05/05/2021 20:38

the custard choux are so dense with custard. no skimping goes on there Grin

andivfmakes3 · 05/05/2021 20:41

Also they had a truffle cheese cauliflower side dish at one point

They still have that....I had it last week with a beef roast 😋

Stichintime · 05/05/2021 20:42

Everythings packed with sugar. I can always taste it in the bread. Find everything tends to taste the same after a while.

ChiefBabySniffer · 05/05/2021 20:43

About ten years ago I had a sweet chilli chicken rat mask from them. One that was part of that offer by or two meals for £10.

Oh
My
God

It was delicious. It was like spicy toffee apples and the nicest rice I've ever had. I have TRIED to make my sweet chill sauce taste like spicy toffee apples but can I? Nooooo

Msfoxy17 · 05/05/2021 20:43

Love M&S but we only have a small one locally so just a few bits here and there.
I absolutely LOVE their Belgian chocolate truffles.. but I cant get them too often as can get through them all in 2 or 3 evenings haha!
I think their ready meals and packaged sandwiches and picnic type foods are much better than lots of other places. I also like the feel of the shop, the look of things and the packaging. Only thing I can think of which was somewhat disappointing was a recent Indian meal box. Really bland and the korma and tikka tasted the same.
I also find their staff really friendly and cheery.

ChiefBabySniffer · 05/05/2021 20:43

rat mask? Howling! 😂🤷🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ READY MEAL !!!

greenlynx · 05/05/2021 20:50

@ChippyDucks150

I agree, they used to have this nice potatoes called golden something £2 per bag. It was my absolute treat with fresh asparagus or nice salad.

I’m trying to cut calories. This thread will kill all my best intentions...

MozzchopsThirty · 05/05/2021 20:55

Rat mask 😂😂😂😂 pmsl

I need to try:
Custard filled choux
Thai box meal
Truffle cauliflower cheese
