MozzchopsThirty · 05/05/2021 19:03

I bought a pea shoot and garlic stir fry mix!!!!!
A bloody stir fry mix, I mean how can it be better than any other stir fry?
It was amazing Smile

And their Chinese food is so much better than a takeaway

And their sweet chilli beetroot is the best

Why? Why? Why?

These are not fancy foods???? These are M&S foods
(And I can't afford to shop there)

The lemon drizzle cake is the best I've ever had!
But I have just had their fruity chicken curry and it was not great. Quite bland. But was in 3 for £7 so not expensive.

CurryLover55 · 07/05/2021 18:36

I liked the Gastropub range but not sure they still do it. And I used to love the soft white Morning loaf. M & S crisps are great & their Kenyan Gold teabags. Never tried their pizzas but they look delicious.

I am not an m and s food shopper, but thought I would pick up a top up shop, when collecting DS's school trousers from the Click and collect.
I thought it was rubbish.
I could only buy a couple of items off my list, there was virtually nothing vegan (for me), the kids didn't like the biscuits I bought. I don't think I am there target market. To be honest I got the impression it was for 'old' people, lots of cream buns and meaty ready meals.
I wouldn't bother again.

@CurryLover55

I think it's just changed its name and packaging slightly - it's in the black packaging with gold lettering (usually has a photo of that french chef who does the programme with Ramsey/di campo) advertising it

ProfYaffle · 07/05/2021 19:36

I grabbed a vegetable samosa for lunch at work the other day - it was amazing! Such a simple thing but the pastry was crisp. Other supermarket samosas are cold, bendy and flabby. Not this one though. How do they mange it when others can't?

I'm also pleased to hear other people saying they can't replicate the grainy salads, I love the dressings but can't make anything vaguely similar at home.

You’ve not tried my lemon drizzle, then GrinGrinGrin

The whole Plant Kitchen range is vegan.
Milomonster · 07/05/2021 22:34

Anyone tried their mandarin pancakes? Utterly divine but they only seem to sell them for a bout two weeks in the year around Easter.

MozzchopsThirty · 07/05/2021 22:59

What on earth is a 'grainy salad'

Ds2 likes the sun rolls for packed lunch
I'm buying dinner from there tomorrow for me & DP
Very tempted by the dirty fried

I would love to live near an M&S so I would raid their yellow label bargains every other day!

Sigh... but I had fooled myself that their food was healthier. Perhaps I am wrong. Damn.

I do like their butter shortbread. It's my Christmas indulgence.
Occasionally we buy the chocolate squirty cream for DD, as a treat. She's realised she can squirt it straight into her mouth... need to supervise kitchen visits when she "goes to get a drink" when we have some of that in the fridge... Grin

MrsClatterbuck · 07/05/2021 23:47

@MozzchopsThirty

What is this yellow sticker bonanza of which you speak???? Is it one area? Only in the morning?
Actually the food gets cheaper as the day goes on. I have in the past got those rotisserie chickens for just over £2. Once I got these ready meals for £2 instead of £8. They were actually rank so glad I didn't pay full price. Mind you I am not too happy with them at the moment. Today they had no brie cheese at all, their potato selection has got really dire and their sandwich selection has totally gone to pot with all my favourites totally gone. I live in Northern Ireland and getting a bit frustrated. Oh and they also had no strawberries today either. And I was there in the morning time. I have shopped there for years and love most of their food but finding lately that Sainsbury does some of the same things cheaper and just as tasty
Startingagainperson · 08/05/2021 00:00

Sshhhh... yellow sticker time is getting like a jumble sale ruck as it is! Smile

ProfYaffle · 08/05/2021 08:19

"What on earth is a 'grainy salad'"

Little pots of different salads with things like edamame beans, quinoa etc I buy them at lunchtime along with protein pots or those dippy things like apple slices with peanut butter etc.

MirandaBlu · 08/05/2021 08:23

Because a lot of people don't know and won't learn how to cook from scratch.

Jemimapuddleduk · 08/05/2021 08:30

Love m&s for treat food. The chocolate thick spooning cream is totally amazing on their strawberries. They are doing little french cheese platters with quince jam at the moment that are out of this world too. Agree with the delicious stir fry deals and Thai food (especially the starters), the best. All butter cookies, cheese tasters, Smokey tomato ketchup, sourdough loaf and pancakes also awesome.

NDSandG · 08/05/2021 08:34

I think their fruit is better than other shops.
The majority of the rest of it is just processed ready meals. People seem to rave about it and I struggle to understand why. Do people actually use it for weekly shopping?

yellowdenim · 08/05/2021 08:52

I do my weekly shop there and find I spend less. I think it’s because there’s not so much choice so I can only buy dinners and fresh fruit/veg, basic cupboard items. There’s not loads more available so there’s not too much impulse buying.

I love their food and find it lasts well, we are lucky with our local one though. Some others I’ve been in tend to have short dates and not as much choice.

yellowdenim · 08/05/2021 08:55

Oh and we don’t have any ready meals which everyone always says about M&S. We tend to eat fresh meat/fish with veggies or dinners like fajitas with salad, homemade lasagne, curries etc. You can get all the ingredients for those types of meals there easily.

Brownteddybear · 08/05/2021 09:01

I think it's vile, too salty a

Suzi888 · 08/05/2021 09:07

Because of all the sugar!Grin

andivfmakes3 · 08/05/2021 10:31

@NDSandG
I do my weekly shop there but I have a massive M&S food hall - it has more choice meat fish veg wise than my big Sainsbury

I only go to Sainsbury for things like cat food or washing powder
