Christ there are some prices on here. You have no idea how many showers people have a week. And people do not smell after skipping a day unless they have a serious body oder problem.

Ninibest · 03/05/2021 20:27

I shower every day and before bed I wash my private part, teeth and harmpit.

Pootle40 · 03/05/2021 20:28

Yes. Feel icky if I don't.

Scotabroad24 · 03/05/2021 21:24

Yes every day.

In summer up to 3 times a day, once in the morning, once before I go to work, and again when I get home from work. I live abroad and summers are hot! Couldn't go without a cold shower Grin

Packinbox · 03/05/2021 21:27

Shower every morning and bath in the evening. I must have a sensitive nose but I can definitely smell the unwashed Grin

CandyLeBonBon · 03/05/2021 21:30

@bloodywhitecat

I shower daily as I have suffered from hyperhidrosis and although it is now well controlled with the right antiperspirants I still remember how badly I was bullied because of it. Not showering daily makes me feel dirty.
What antiperspirants do you use? I think my eldest son struggles with this? Info would be good if you don't mind?
Tippexy · 03/05/2021 21:33

@blowinahoolie oh come on no need for the biscuit!

I was taking the mick out of all these ridiculous posters…

Cakeonthefloor · 03/05/2021 21:34

Advised by a dermatologist to wash only twice a week due to severe eczema. Apparently most people wash to much and it is harmful to their skin.

Packinbox · 03/05/2021 21:35

Ah, I nearly posted about the great eczema debate. My dad consultant says it’s a load of old baloney and increases the infection risk. It’s not worth worrying about if you are convinced you don’t smell.

The most effective way to treat dry skin is to give it the moisture it needs. Proper bathing and moisturizing are important for this reason — especially if you have eczema. The best way to replace moisture in the skin is to soak in a bath or take a shower and then moisturize immediately nationaleczema.org/eczema/treatment/bathing/

DareIask · 03/05/2021 21:40

Unless you don't have the facilities to do so I can't understand why anyone wouldn't want to.

FoxgloveBee · 03/05/2021 21:41

In the morning after my run (necessary!) and on an evening quickly before bed (not at all necessary but it helps me wind down).

Bakedbeanhead · 03/05/2021 21:41

@SaturdayRocks

Why do these threads come up so often?

If you think you’re not showering enough, shower more. If your skin doesn’t like it, then make your peace with fewer showers.

Has the infernal ‘strip wash’ come up yet?

“Infernal strip wash”made me snort with laughter and spit my tea out ! You are so right, there are rather a lot of these shower threads at the moment.
MistyMinge2 · 03/05/2021 21:42

I shower every morning. It helps wake me up and feel set for the day. Also, I would feel grubby if I didn't. If I'm not washing my hair then I can be in and out in a few minutes.

Tips for bathing and moisturizing with eczema

Some things to remember when bathing:

Take at least one bath or shower a day
Bathe or shower in lukewarm (not hot) water for 10 to 15 minutes
Avoid scrubbing your skin with a washcloth or loofah
Use a gentle cleanser (not soap)
During severe flares, limit the use of cleansers to further avoid irritation

National Eczema association. Apologies for banging on but the not daily bathing advice was debunked years ago.

Mycatisthebest · 03/05/2021 21:44

Usually once a day in the morning just to wake myself up. But during lockdown every 2 days

missbunnyrabbit · 03/05/2021 21:44

Sometimes I shower/bath every day and sometimes I go a day or two without and just have sink washes.

TheSaucepanMan · 03/05/2021 21:45

Yes everyday often twice a day, sometimes I'll think about the man who invented showers and how much I love him for it Grin I could easily stay in one for 30 mins if I weren't conscious of the massive amount of water used or the environmental aspect.

Hang on. Which bit is baloney? I'm confused!
Figgygal · 03/05/2021 21:47

Absolutely yes
Wash hair every other day but shower everyday

Sparklingbrook · 03/05/2021 21:47

I don't really know how to have a strip/sink wash. If it's how I imagine I could shower quicker.

DareIask · 03/05/2021 21:47

Absolutely. Without flooding the bathroom
TolkiensFallow · 03/05/2021 21:51

Yes daily. I feel greasy without.

lovethisjourneyforme · 03/05/2021 21:52

Every other day, usually in the evenings. In summer it can be every day though as I like gardening which is sweaty work!
