Wondering whats actually normal. I shower every 2-3 days in the evenings.

@LudoBear

I have got some weird skin condition that means my arms and legs itch like mad for up to 2 hours after showering. I've been to the doctors and they can't find a reason. My skin isn't dry and no visual signs. I've tried all sorts. It's worse if I shower in the mornings so I only shower in the evenings. I wear clean clothes every day. I'm single, live alone, don't work at the moment. I'm 100% sure i don't smell as I don't do any exercise, don't sweat unless its super hot in which case I'll shower more. I've asked my mum and she says I don't smell. She would tell me if I did.
Your mum is being kind. If you don't shower for 3 days at a time, you absolutely DO smell.
PatchworkElmer · 03/05/2021 19:41

I shower every day, it’s just part of my routine. Most days I do definitely need it due to exercise/ sweaty running 😂

firstimemamma · 03/05/2021 19:43

Yes every evening. I might miss the odd day but I'd say that only happens once or twice a month.

SaturdayRocks · 03/05/2021 19:43

Why do these threads come up so often?

If you think you’re not showering enough, shower more. If your skin doesn’t like it, then make your peace with fewer showers.

Has the infernal ‘strip wash’ come up yet?

Ellenthegenerous · 03/05/2021 19:44

Every day, I feel disgusting if I don’t. I am also conscious of smelling and I like fresh nethers (for me before anyone pounces).

QueenPaw · 03/05/2021 19:46

@LudoBear you might have already tried but have you tried using something like an emollient before showering? And antihistamines?
I come out in hives from hot water which is helpful!

bloodywhitecat · 03/05/2021 19:48

I shower daily as I have suffered from hyperhidrosis and although it is now well controlled with the right antiperspirants I still remember how badly I was bullied because of it. Not showering daily makes me feel dirty.

Chesneyhawkes1 · 03/05/2021 19:49

Most days twice as I run in morning and bike in evening. My skin does get dry from it though

CaesarsDream · 03/05/2021 19:49

I shower or bath every day. I do skip a day occasionally.

MeanderingGently · 03/05/2021 19:52

Of course I shower every day, less than that is pretty rank. I'd prefer a long soak in the bath which I used to do every day but my current apartment doesn't have a bath, sadly.

peaceanddove · 03/05/2021 19:59

Yes, every morning without fail. Every. Morning. I simply do not feel comfortable if I don't. I never want to have to doubt whether I smell fresh and clean, or slightly stale.

I have been around plenty of people who insist they only need to shower/bath 2-3 times a week because 'they don't smell'.

They do.

Trinacham · 03/05/2021 20:04

Yes everyday. I have quite a physical job and also work with rodents, so it wouldn't be nice to skip any days!

Boxtroll · 03/05/2021 20:07

Every other day I bath or shower on an evening.
I still wash between.

EspressoExpresso · 03/05/2021 20:10

Used to be daily, twice daily if I was going to the gym (would shower before and after, no way could I be that person who rolls out of bed and goes to the gym!).

And then I started working from home 😂 it's more like EOD now Blush

sallywinter · 03/05/2021 20:11

Every morning but mainly because I’m breastfeeding over night and I smell so milky

Mindfullness · 03/05/2021 20:12

Twice a day. In the morning to wake myself and bath/shower every night as wouldn't feel right getting into bed without washing the day off 😅

EvilOnion · 03/05/2021 20:14

No I don't.

TwoZeroTwoZero · 03/05/2021 20:15

@LudoBear, don't justify yourself or change what works for you on the basis of a load of internet randoms and their neuroses.

SappysCurry · 03/05/2021 20:20

Twice, just short ones enough to get clean and I love the smell of the shower gel in the steam.
Love showers I find them uplifting and also relaxing as cannot sleep without feeling fresh and also wake me up in the morning.
My cat also loves to join me for night shower (but not actually in the shower obviously ) but he rolls around on the bath mat as I think he likes the smell of it too. So it’s like a nightly ritual for both of us

Blueskytoday06 · 03/05/2021 20:21

Yes every day and sometimes twice a day.

yikesanotherbooboo · 03/05/2021 20:22

I do , every morning and on work days since the advent of covid I shower when I get home as well . I am in contact with patients.
I do feel a bit guilty about the use of water. I am far from an eco warrior but like to reduce my use of resources eg not having an electric shower, being very quick etc.

TheVampiresWife · 03/05/2021 20:23

No, because I don't have a shower.

FunnyWonder · 03/05/2021 20:24

Yes. It's the only peace I getGrinGrin

The info about the skin condition would have been handy in the OP as it would make sense. However it makes it even more irrelevant what everyone else without a skin condition does. Confused

I would be getting a second opinion about the condition though.

boomboom1234 · 03/05/2021 20:25

Yes every morning and probably four out of seven days I also shower before bed so maybe I shower too much lol
