With my MN chicken I made 17 meals and three sandwiches.

It can be done!
Large chicken, don't know the weight but it took 2 hours 5 minutes to cook.
We had -
Roast dinner for five.
Chicken fajitas for four.
Chicken and bacon pie for five.
Risotto for three.
And three chicken salad sandwiches.

Two adults, the secondary school kids. Maybe we just don't eat much so our portions are small.

I guess we like veg!

I guess you don't like chicken.

I don't, so if my husband cooks it I eat a small amount to be polite. Meat is never the best part of any meal I eat.

@RJnomore1

Barley risotto is a thing it’s called orsotto or something?
Orzotto is made with orzo, which is pasta.
Brokenchair1 · 19/04/2021 21:45

Wow. DD and I had a massive chicken last Sunday. Said serves 8. We had a large portion each, then I managed to make one more meal of it. That's it. Obviously not a magical MN chicken 🤨

I would only use a small amount of children in fajitas as well. They're mostly vegetables aren't they? Is that not normal?

Pearbear · 19/04/2021 21:47

Crikey I’d struggle to make that many meals out of a huge Christmas turkey

IceSwallowCome · 19/04/2021 21:47

You all managed to eat a WHOLE chicken? How greedy. My family would share one breast (skin off, naturally) between us and have to throw the rest away as we'd be too full to eat anything else for the next fortnight. tinkly laugh

Kendodd · 19/04/2021 21:48

I think going by this thread, our chicken consumption isn't normal.

Fucking hell, buy more chicken and leave the poor children out of it 😂

No, of course not. The dog had some as well.

I use at least one child per fajita.

@Kittykat93

1 chicken breast between 4 people..that's fucking hilarious 😂 my three year old gets given more than the portions you give op
Well we like the variety in fajitas, each bite being different! A couple Of strips of chicken each add to that variety, and along with the dairy and beans adds to the protein content.

Obviously for a roast we'd have more! Dd and I would have one large Brest between us and ds and dh a leg each. But presumably like Op we tend to bulk out roasts with the trimmings (let's be honest they're the best bit!).

Obviously, which is why you started a thread demonstrating your fantastic parsimony.

Thank you for sharing 🙏

Are you The Borrowers?
I am howling Grin
willstarttomorrow · 19/04/2021 21:53

Chicken? Surely you just start with a stone (obscure fairy tale reference for old people).

womaninatightspot · 19/04/2021 21:53

@Xiaoxiong

If you made stock, you could have had chicken soup, pilaf and congee. And maybe then cracked the bones open and spread the marrow on toast, and ground the bones to feed to the dog, and spread it on your tomatoes and made a salad. There is loads more you can do with your chicken, you just have to be creative Grin
Maybe they used the stock in the risotto?
idontlikealdi · 19/04/2021 21:54

@titchy

Well fajitas, pie and risotto are all going to be bulked out with other veg and protein so it's not that unbelievable. I'd only cook one medium chicken breast if making fajitas for 4 adults for example.
Oh ffs really?

This makes me feel sad! Why have a chicken at all if your hardly going to eat any!

DeeDimer · 19/04/2021 21:58

Where can I buy these MN chickens please?

imalmostthere · 19/04/2021 22:00

One chicken breast between four for fajitas??
😂😂😂😂

One breast for 4 people and a whole leg for an adult, how wasteful, you need tips from @Kendodd

Mn competitive undereater award goes to 🥇

Bluntness100 · 19/04/2021 22:04

Lol I think this is a wind up. Otherwise everyone got on average a quarter of a chicken breast per meal,,,yum ,,a feast indeed.,,😂

Lanique · 19/04/2021 22:06

All sounds a bit joyless to me 🤷🏻‍♀️

Half a large breast is about 35g protein, so 75% RDA. What on earth is wrong with that?

Do you not want room for stuffing, Yorkshire's, roasties, veg?

Maybe you all eat loads of meat - personally I like variety on my plate. I get bored easily!
