@Marmaladeagain

ha ha funny - keep up - we're racists and bigots and worshiping PP for seeing any good in his life and pointing out people are human.
If the cap fits.
GCAcademic · 11/04/2021 11:38

If the cap fits

Thanks for admitting that you call people racists and bigots for pointing out any good that someone has achieved.

Marmaladeagain · 11/04/2021 11:41

I shall happily accept being called a racist by the likes of you, sorry and all that if it disappoints you Grin.

You calling me a racist etc only highlights your own weak intellect and prejudices, so double win (just you don't realise that).

C130 · 11/04/2021 11:44

Take it however you wish to. It makes no difference to me. GCacademic

Lockdownbear · 11/04/2021 11:45

Just a thought Philips Navy hat is going on top of the coffin.

Charles and Andrew both served in the Navy. So I'm guessing they'll be in Navy uniform.
Does Edward have any rights to wear it?

What about William and Harry?

GCAcademic · 11/04/2021 11:46

I am also of South Asian origin, and don't consider the DoE a racist. I strongly dislike this tendency to brand and cancel people, particularly on the basis of trumped up, out-of-context remarks. That just seems like a power play, and I find it hard to believe that anyone thinks this will benefit race relations in the long term.

GCAcademic · 11/04/2021 11:47

I took it as the logic of your words implied.
Roussette · 11/04/2021 11:48

Andrew is allowed to wear all his medals and uniform.

Harry isn't. He was stripped of it all.

Edward has a row of medals made out of chocolate coins. He hasn't served but still can wear them.

SprungisSpringYaY · 11/04/2021 11:51

Rousesste that's shocking, absolutely shocking..

GCAcademic · 11/04/2021 11:52

Harry can wear his medals, but not uniform.

Marmaladeagain · 11/04/2021 11:53

Yes it all smacks at attempts of division, well said GCAcademic.

I do wonder how these types of posters are bringing up their children?
Are they filling them with this hatred? Or are they teaching them that all of us are learning as we live our lives and to understand there are many experiences which shape people and allow people space to change/learn/adapt and not condemn them.

I'm all for those principles, except in those which proclaim those principles but damn others in the same sentence (the holier than though brigade) Could be any number of the current self-proclaimed "kind" people and they fit the above description. Others will define you as kind, you don't need to announce it to the world - it's something to live daily and sometimes to get wrong. The pomposity of the "kind".

HypocriteHunter · 11/04/2021 11:57

I agree GCAcademic

Race relations will never improve when some seek to find offence where no malice is intended.

By stirring old pots we will never move forward.

Roussette · 11/04/2021 11:59

@SprungisSpringYaY

Yes it is shocking. There's Edward all dressed up in military uniform with medals, having left the Marines after a month even though they paid ££££ to sponsor him at University... but Harry who served in Afghanistan cannot wear his uniform.

HypocriteHunter · 11/04/2021 11:59

And again, marmalade said it better than me.

I doubt very much if anyone will be in uniform. My bloke’s army hat and gloves will go on his coffin, if his son and dil pitched up to the funeral in their number one dress I’d be aghast.
Lockdownbear · 11/04/2021 12:16

@Alsohuman

Well the chinese slitty eyes comment came about as beforehand chinese students were warned not to stay in the west too long, by their elders, otherwise they'd go round eyed. Philip made a joke back to someone from England

I didn’t know that. The context completely changes it.

I didn't know that either. Totally puts a different context on it.
Alsohuman · 11/04/2021 12:16

Harry isn't. He was stripped of it all.

Harry can wear his medals, just like every other retired member of the UK forces. Edward only has jubilee medals, ie the ones that every man and his dog have got.
SueSaid · 11/04/2021 12:21

'There's Edward all dressed up in military uniform with medals, having left the Marines after a month even though they paid ££££ to sponsor him at University... but Harry who served in Afghanistan cannot wear his uniform.'

It's because Edward has honorary titles (commodore in chief of the Royal Fleet) as a working member of the RF and Harry doesnt.

Also, ex service men don't tend to wear their uniforms but do wear their medals I believe.

Roussette · 11/04/2021 12:21

And the uniform? Edward wears military uniform even though he has never served in the armed forces.
Harry can't.

SprungisSpringYaY · 11/04/2021 12:23

Rosette it's ridiculous and I can see how he would feel unfairly treated.
However he knows what he did and can stand there with pride whilst the paper soldiers can be dressed up like role players.. Actors..

Marmaladeagain · 11/04/2021 12:23

they're honorary roles as working representatives of the Crown. Harry doesn't have any honorary roles as he wanted to work for Netflix. HTH

Marmaladeagain · 11/04/2021 12:25

they're not wearing the uniforms just for the sake of the uniform - it's in their representative roles - Harry didn't want to be a working royal. The Queen is the head of the military.

SueSaid · 11/04/2021 12:25

'Harry isn't. He was stripped of it all.'

Rather, he gave it all up.

What a shame the Oprah thing was broadcast when it was. Funerals are obviously bad enough at the best of times without this horrible awkward mess Harry has foisted on the RF.

Alsohuman · 11/04/2021 12:26

@Roussette

And the uniform? Edward wears military uniform even though he has never served in the armed forces. Harry can't.
Because he voluntarily surrendered that right. He’s not a working royal any more. It’s like leaving a job and expecting to keep your company car and healthcare insurance.
