Lighthearted, give me your unpopular opinions.

I can start;

The musical Hamilton and Star Wars are over rated.

OP posts:

@VeganCow

Eating animals is wrong and unnecessary.
Tasty though
Medeaaah · 31/03/2021 14:50

@MinnieMous3

Other people throw it *@the80sweregreat*

@Medeaaah so you don’t enjoy afternoon tea or a few glasses of Prosecco, a catch up with friends, a few games and giving a few baby gifts?

Oh good heavens, did you mention games. I am speechless. Party games for adult women. Really? No, I love an afternoon tea with tiny sandwiches and champagne but find baby showers utterly tedious.
SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/03/2021 14:52

Also, vet bills have reached ridiculous levels

Not an unpopular opinion - the God's honest truth.

I blame pet insurance - it has resulted in the sort of over-priced itemised bills, where people are charged 15 quid for a smear of Savlon, normally only seen on Breaking Bad.

marmitecravings · 31/03/2021 14:52

Can I add to that list Lord of the Rings and anything involving dragons

That’s not an opinion. That’s just listing cool stuff. 😂😂
MinnieMous3 · 31/03/2021 14:58

@Medeaaah

Well don’t take part in the games then. Sit on the edge of the group and ask the waiter about the provenance of the smoked salmon in your dainty little sandwich.

Medeaaah · 31/03/2021 15:25

I usually send my regrets and a present. Win-win.

FoxyTheFox · 31/03/2021 15:26

I loved my baby showers. My friends all chipped in £10 each for food and some gifts then got me to the house of whichever friend decided to host, usually under the pretence of calling in for a cuppa or having a playgroup planning meeting. Walk in and everyone is there, it was wonderful. Drinks, food, chat, some games, and then gifts (and always gifts for me, not the baby). I helped organise the same for all of them when they were pregnant, its a nice way to have some time together before the baby arrives and wish your friend well.

Sounds lovely, I really enjoyed mine as well. The final weeks can be really tiring and slow, and I found it helped ‘peak’ my excitement again, we played games and it took my mind off of how massive I was feeling and how tired I was!

I used to be all ‘tasteful’ and twee, but now I couldn’t give a shit, life is too short not to enjoy your milestones and nobody will hand out a prize for ‘good taste’.

if god didn’t want us to eat animals he wouldn’t have made them out of meat.

@Medeaaah I do get the point of the thread. Your post just made me laugh.
Loving the Adele Sky Foal and crumb bowl Grin. Though I think Adele looks great slim. Fat will always pad your face out but unfortunately, also your body!

\ ˈwin-ˈwin , -ˌwin

Definition of win-win
: advantageous or satisfactory to all parties involved
a win-win situation
a win-win deal

You've got it in one Grin

I don't know if it's right or wrong but you have to feed your brain and body. Lack of nutrients is problematic (and popping supplements when you can eat proper food is odd - to me anyway)

Hooray 🎉 and I didn’t even need to pollute the independent school system to get it..!

@ThisForUnpopularOpinions

I have a social contract with my cats. I talk to them & they talk to me. I prefer them to most people, who are, let’s face it, annoying & superfluous to requirements.

Animals have souls too. I agree with @VeganCow. We don’t need to murder animals to feed our bellies. It’s wrong, & moral arguments aside there are such good vege/vegan alternatives around nowadays it is unnecessary (as well as murderous.)

whitespotsgreenleaves · 31/03/2021 19:15

We don't need a reason to eat animals. If they're tasty and you're in the mood, go ahead. We don't owe them anything. All interpersonal ethics boil down to a social contract, and we don't have that with animals

My unpopular opinion is that this is the most wanky up-your-own-arse argument for eating meat that I have ever heard. That's some feat.
You deserve some sort of prize.

Its also a very utilitarian argument for ethical behaviour. Psychopaths tend to choose the utilitarian approach in quizzes that measure this stuff. Just sayin'

whitespotsgreenleaves · 31/03/2021 19:16

if god didn’t want us to eat animals he wouldn’t have made them out of meat

You are made out of meat. Does that mean God wants me to eat you?

DeusEx · 31/03/2021 19:32

Lush is really overrated

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/03/2021 19:38

Agree with Whitespots

Both posts.

How we treat the creatures we share this planet with says a lot about us as people. They are vulnerable and many are totally dependent upon our goodwill - and that is OUR choice, not theirs.

If we are going to eat meat then we have a moral responsibility to keep the animals we breed for our table in as good and natural a way as possible, and give them as gentle a death as we are able. Currently we overcrowd them, feed them inappropriate diets, stuff them full of drugs - and slaughterhouses are horrific!

Same with pets. If you choose to get a pet - whether it's a horse, cat dog, goldfish or anything in between, you have a responsibility to cherish and care for them. YOU chose THEM. They aren't inanimate pieces of flesh wrapped in fur - they are living , breathing, feeling, sentient creatures.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 31/03/2021 19:39

@DeusEx

Agreed - is sh*te.
GreenWasabi · 31/03/2021 19:46

People who drink get boring after only two, you might not think you are , but you are, trust me....

Let2020beoversoon · 31/03/2021 20:05

Haven’t RTFT but any kind of doodle is a mongrel and whoever came up with the name is a marketing genius. Give a mongrel a cute name like labradoodle or puggle, and sell it for £££ and people fall for it every time, even when the dog is ugly as sin and everybody is hoping it’ll take all the good traits but nobody knows what’ll happen.

No he wants predators like like one, tigers and sharks to eat humans, they don’t call it the circle of life for nothing.
