Food you love but can't get any more

Let me lead with the Waitrose pecorino and back dip. They've discontinued it and I have no idea why. I have been whingeing about it for two years now why would you discontinue such a popular product ?

I am just hoping the pork and iberico chorizo sausage rolls, also from waitrose, don't go the same way. It's been ages since I've seen them on the shelves.

Not only is it lockdown with nowt eke to think about but for, but I'm on a calorie controlled diet atm trying to get back in my dinner clothes before the weather warns up! All I can think about is eating.

What foods do you miss? Have they been discontinued? Can you only get them in a location you can't access? Are you trying to lose the lockdown lbs? Please make me feel better about being an obsessive foodie by joining me!

@Twigletgirl27 thank you! Not got one near me but I’ll keep an eye out...

Bluesheep8 · 28/03/2021 16:01

Old El Paso Enchillada sauce in a jar. They still do one but it's a different recipe and has a very bitter taste. The original one was MUCH nicer.
Also, M and S count on us jacket potato and butter flavoured crisps. They were so nice and just disappeared Hmm

Bluesheep8 · 28/03/2021 16:04

Also Heinz if you are reading pleas bring back toast toppers they were great for a quick and tasty lunch.

I've seen toast toppers in B and M recently

BlueJag · 28/03/2021 16:08

Heinz treacle sponge pudding.

GameSetMatch · 28/03/2021 16:11

25+ years ago when vegan and vegetarian food was in short supply, Tesco used to do the best ever nut roast it was delicious I used to have it every Sunday until they discontinued it!

I did see them in poundland but typically only the cheese & ham or other meaty ones. I would the cheese and tomato one. I also want M&S Onion Tarte Tatin back.

Oh and Sosmix (veggie meat you make up yourself). Loved it! Not a replacement to me cos I never liked meat anyway! There was also a veggie 'meat' pie I used to get from Holland & Barrett. It was a mock suet pudding with a 'meat' substitute. Normally I avoided those sort but this one was lush!

Heinz treacle sponge pudding.

I am sure Poundland stock this.

nordica · 28/03/2021 16:19

Oats & More cereal, it was my favourite and has been discontinued for not being popular enough. 😢

Thighdentitycrisis · 28/03/2021 16:27

Lidl used to do a really seedy sunflower loaf, like a cross between a pumpernickel and a raised bread. 20 years ago and I still pine

Stratfordplace · 28/03/2021 16:29

Ben and Jerry’s Chunky Monkey and well as cherry Garcia

Toothemoonandback · 28/03/2021 16:33

2003: Wall’s Feast ice cream bar (I was pregnant at the time, and ate far too many😂)

@ChaseTheSun I had bread and butter to mop up the last of it

BettyCarver · 28/03/2021 16:35

Aztec bars. Yeap I’m that old

And on a current note, Tesco seem to have stopped doing their sliced loaf with black pepper. Bastards

Oh god yes I loved them and time out bars.

Tesco used to stock New York Co Soup, their nacho chilli chicken soup was so nice and full of flavour, its been discontinued for a few years now.

Sainsburys used to do a Laska pot noodle and that was discounted too, loved it.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 28/03/2021 17:09

@DragonPoop

I’ve banged on about this before but Asda about 7 years ago used to do an ‘extra special’ vacuum sealed pouch of tuna steak in olive oil (as opposed to a tin of tuna) It was a whole tuna steak and it was absolutely beautiful quality. No tin of tuna will ever compare
This reminds me of the gorgeous stuffed trout they used to do on the fresh counter

Gone

AnaofBroceliande · 28/03/2021 17:10

Irn Bru without fucking sweeteners.

AliceMcK · 28/03/2021 17:13

Many many years ago M&S use to do a really yummy salmon pasta salad. Also I use to be able to get vegetable spring rolls from Iceland, they were literally the only thing I ever bought in Iceland, I don’t know what brand they were but they tasted just like the ones I use to get at school and I loved them. I must have tried every other brand ever made and still nothing compares.

flamedsochanged · 28/03/2021 17:24
