Food you love but can't get any more

Let me lead with the Waitrose pecorino and back dip. They've discontinued it and I have no idea why. I have been whingeing about it for two years now why would you discontinue such a popular product ?

I am just hoping the pork and iberico chorizo sausage rolls, also from waitrose, don't go the same way. It's been ages since I've seen them on the shelves.

Not only is it lockdown with nowt eke to think about but for, but I'm on a calorie controlled diet atm trying to get back in my dinner clothes before the weather warns up! All I can think about is eating.

What foods do you miss? Have they been discontinued? Can you only get them in a location you can't access? Are you trying to lose the lockdown lbs? Please make me feel better about being an obsessive foodie by joining me!

Also, itsu chicken classic crystal noodles. Used to be able to get them in Tesco’s and then one day they changed the packaging on the range and took away the best flavour! I was gutted!

The old starbucks lemon and poppyseed drizzle muffins with thick icing on the top. Hate the new ones

gracelessladyhottramp · 28/03/2021 20:26

Gu did an chocolate ice cream with raspberry in. I only had it once but it was so good.

M&S use to do a chocolate bar that was three layers of dark, milk and white chocolate.

A chocolate bar in the 90s called a secret or whisper and it was chocolate mouse with a kind of nest of chocolate around it.

Sockbogies · 28/03/2021 20:29

Piglet crisps - I had serious crisp envy if another kid had these in their lunchbox in the 1980s.

brushlaptop · 28/03/2021 20:44

@BrownEyedGirl80

KFC sour cream and chive dip.Havent seen it since mid noughties
I used to love that!! Especially dipping in the crispy strips and chips in it. Not sure they even do crispy strips anymore and their chips are rubbish these days.
LondonMiss · 28/03/2021 21:14

The old style Nando’s veggie burgers!! They were the best

BrownEyedGirl80 · 28/03/2021 21:20

PilatesPeach · 28/03/2021 21:28

Well slightly different but I miss the Haagen Daz shop in Windsor.

mrshonda · 28/03/2021 21:41

Co-op 3 Cheese freshly baked loaf - they stopped making them about 18 months ago. Realeat Veggie Burger mix in a package, I loved that.

TheFiend · 28/03/2021 21:53

@ignatiusjreilly

M&S Pain aux Chocolat Bread and Butter Pudding. Jonathan Ross talked about how high in calories it was on his TV show so they discontinued it. Don't eat it then, Jonathan, but don't ruin it for the rest of us!

Sainsbury's used to do an amazing cranberry muesli which had little white yoghurt drops in it, like white choc chips but sharp-tasting and delicious. Lots of nuts too. I was so disappointed when that went.

McDonald's hot fudge sundaes. Still available abroad but not here, for some reason. So much nicer than a McFlurry.

Omg McD’s hot fudge sunday’s were the best. I used to get one every Friday on the walk home from school. I remember they used to have 1 week offers where they’d go down to 59p so I’d get one every single day! Once convinced a guy who fancied me, and worked there, to fill up a cup with just the hot fudge sauce 😂. I was gutted when they stopped and managed to get one in America a few years back but it was different to the one here. Much sweeter and tasted powdery
TheFiend · 28/03/2021 21:58

Me too. Do you remember the Baskin Robbins that was there before it? Their mint choc chip was amazing
mrshonda · 28/03/2021 21:59

Deathraystare Sosmix is still available at www.alternativestores.com

Olga83 · 28/03/2021 22:06

@IveMadeAHugeMistake I bought a chocolate swirl in Morrisons less than a fortnight ago.

Gluten free pastry options seem to be returning, like you it's the thing I really miss. I was really annoyed when Genius discontinued their pain au chocolate but the chocolate swirls and chocolate twists you can get various places now are better

Tittie · 28/03/2021 22:08

My mum used to buy this stuff called Cremola, a bit like semolina pudding, but the taste was delicious. I loved it!

gurglebelly · 28/03/2021 22:09
  1. Heinz baked bean shepherds pie

  2. M&S melt in the middle fish cakes

  3. Brannigans Roast Beef and Mustard crisps

  4. And not really the same but anything from Ask Italian! They shut down all restaurants in our area last year and left all the Zizzi's open (🤢 for the last few years) I'm gutted as I loved going to Ask!

gurglebelly · 28/03/2021 22:09

@Coniferhedge

At this time of year, Toffee & Mallow eggs. They were like Creme Eggs, but one half was filled with caramel, the other with marshmallow. I absolutely loved them but not seen them for years.
Oh my god I had completely forgotten about these, but I loved them!
gurglebelly · 28/03/2021 22:12

@Buggerthebotox

Oh god yes, that Tesco mushroom paté. Loved that.

Liberté yoghurt. Suddenly disappeared off the shelves last year never to be seen again. It was my "go-to" dessert.

Vesta Paella in a box. I know you can get it still if you're really persistent but I haven't been able to get it in a shop for years.

Uncle Ted's Chicken and Mushroom Risotto (one of the rice pouches). Gone. Haven't seen it for yonks.

A crispbread called Vita Wheat. My mother was obsessed with them and I liked them too but I've never been able to find anything similar on the shelves.

I'm eating a liberte honey yoghurt right now - came from Tesco
Marcipex · 28/03/2021 22:12

Bovril crisps

silverstrawberry · 28/03/2021 22:14
