Is quite interesting and hypnotic to watch the slow spread

Drone footage over new fissure

These are the camera links I'm using

I tried to book on the Iceland tour but they are all showing fully booked, I wonder if that means they are actually cancelled.

dustydaffs · 07/04/2021 09:42

People on this one now

PuffinShop · 07/04/2021 10:14

Another new fissure opened in the night, between the original eruption site and the two 'new fissures'.

The area remains closed to the general public!

Yeah I'm sure this must be the case. It will be a little while until the tourists can return, I think. The weather is also very uninspiring at the moment..

lubeybooby · 07/04/2021 10:46

From the cams the area has kept changing a lot the last couple of days and weather terrible too, a few new vents have popped up and one of the cams is suspected to be toast very shorty if not already. I definitely wouldn't want to attempt going at the moment (definitely once more stable though)

great fb group tracking everything www.facebook.com/groups/bobsnation/

dustydaffs · 07/04/2021 11:50

I'm on that FB group too, it's interesting reading though I haven't posted anything. I think Bob cam went offline about 8 or so this morning UK time.

boatyardblues · 07/04/2021 12:35

Are helicopter flights over the eruption still permitted when the hiking trails are closed, Puffin?

PuffinShop · 07/04/2021 12:48

I think so? I'm honestly not sure!

Although I actually saw on Vísir that the carparks did open again at 6 am (so what I said earlier about it still being closed was wrong). The weather is appalling, though, so I wouldn't fancy it, but I expect a few people have gone.

dustydaffs · 07/04/2021 12:53

I haven't seen any helicopters for a few days but @volcanopilot has posted some footage on Instagram.

I saw four people on the camera earlier when I should have been working (not paid work, my own work) but they were getting so close to the lava that they must have either been fools or scientists!

TyneTeas · 07/04/2021 17:24

Another new one!

TyneTeas · 07/04/2021 17:32

And by that I mean another new bit of volcano, not just video

Becca19962014 · 07/04/2021 18:44

I saw helicopters flying last night on a feed.

TyneTeas · 10/04/2021 18:17

This is pretty impressive and interesting too. Amazing how it has developed!

I checked in on the camera this evening after a few days’ break. There’s 6 cones fountaining now! Where did the other 4 spring from? (Rhetorical) The original valley is also almost full of lava in

boatyardblues · 13/04/2021 21:15

My bad. There are 6 cones. God loves a pedant. Grin

Becca19962014 · 13/04/2021 22:11

I've been watching before bed and it's so fasinating! I joined the FB group someone mentioned above and am loving it!

RedToothBrush · 13/04/2021 22:27

There's now 10 cones all along the fissure but 1 has now gone inactive.

This map is brilliant as it shows them all and gives their nicknames (as given by youtube viewers).

I'd not checked for a few days. It has baby volcanoes!

TyneTeas · 14/04/2021 18:49

This taken yesterday opens with a great from shot

TyneTeas · 14/04/2021 18:49

Drone shot even!

Finally found the thread again.
Hel is quite active tonight

boatyardblues · 15/04/2021 21:02

Both the RUV cameras seem to be down just now. I wondered if they’d move them soon due to the valley filling up.

RedToothBrush · 15/04/2021 21:43

"Volcano closed and cameras await repair" by #Iceland broadcast media @RUVfrettir - storm suspected of knocking out both of RUV's live #volcano webcams at #Fagradalsfjall; unsafe #weather for crews to go fix them
www.ruv.is/frett/2021/04/15/volcano-closed-and-cameras-await-repair

From article:
^It is believed the wet and windy conditions could be part of the reason both of RÚV’s live webcams have stopped broadcasting.
Both cameras stopped broadcasting overnight and it is not known what caused the problem, though the weather could have something to do with it.^

The forecast today is for 15-20 metre-per-second-winds from the southeast. Members of the public are not being admitted today
