Oh, and I am a geographer. So I need to climb up a hill to get an overview of it all. Here is the annotated version of the ongoing #Geldingadalur eruption with all the action as of lunchtime today and some geographic context. We are looking north/northwest in this photo. #iceland

This is from a completely different angle to any of the webcams. Its from a site in the SE of the area looking northwest.

Another brilliant trip to the volcano last night, probably my favourite so far. The lava river was absolutely mesmerising!

On the MBL webcam you can see the ground smoking right now to the right of the active crater - it is thought that a new fissure might be opening right in front of the camera.

@PuffinShop I saw that last night, then they shifted the camera angle

There's also an area in front of the one cam watchers used to call FLO on the way down into Meradalir that has been randomly smoking/off gassing too but no camera are currently facing it

With that one and the area on the mbl.is cam last night, there was some debate whether it was groundwater steam or smoke, but it was 'pulsing' in time with the fountains of lava from NAR so I'm pretty sure there will be a new vent or two soon

It seemed to kind of peter out.. But I'm sure there's more to come from this eruption. I've been 3 times and it has beencompletely different each time!

lots of people in the cam chat and fb group saying it was a false alarm (the possible new vents)

I'm still thinking (hoping) there will be more though soon!
