What shall we name our house?

Where I'm from all the houses have names instead of numbers.

We're moving into a new house next month and we'd like to change the current name of it.

It's a bungalow on a corner plot but The Corner House just doesn't have a nice ring to it!

Any ideas hive mind? Thank you!

@Roselilly36

Some really helpful suggestions, I bet you are pleased you asked OP.

What about Brambles, The Dene, Cornerstone Cottage, Cornerstones.

What type of things or seasons do you like OP, and think about words associated with that, I am sure you will find a suitable name that means something special to you. Good luck.

Thank you! I really like cornerstone cottage actually!

Wouldn't it be a bit strange naming a bungalow "xxxx cottage"?

BluePeterVag · 12/03/2021 07:56

I like Cornerstone.

SquirtleSquad · 12/03/2021 07:57

The house in the fantastic book Life After Life is called Foxes Corner and is described really vividly as a lively family home. I always remember Foxes Corner as a great house name.
Oh I want to read that book again. It’s brilliant.

If you plant a lot of flowers in the front garden...

Bloomin Ecke (ecke is German for corner)

The generated names app is fun. My favourite was Weedlands.

Seasthedaytoday · 12/03/2021 10:06

I do like Cosy Corner?

IDoAllMyOwnStunts · 12/03/2021 11:29

There's a house near me called ' Minew house'. 😃

There used to be a trend years ago to name your house after the place you had your honeymoon. My grandparents' house had the name of a Dorset village.

I have noticed this on some of the late Victorian terraced houses in my area. The names are still there, above the doors; eg. Clovelly, Cromer. I think that's a lovely idea and have thought of doing it myself.

No chance I'm naming our house Magaluf!! 😵

The corner house is a great name to ensure deliver drivers find you!

VenusClapTrap · 12/03/2021 17:06

I lived next door to a bungalow called Erzanmine when I was a child. They weren’t very nice people, and everyone called the guy Erzanmine instead of his actual name.

SheldonesqueIsUnwell · 12/03/2021 17:10

Dunnormaning.

Or just Norman. I love that. 🤞🏼

Moonface123 · 12/03/2021 17:13

Wits End 😊

QueenofBrickdon · 12/03/2021 17:22

I know of a holiday let called Fraggle Rock.

Other gems in the area include Point Break, Haddock Castle and Turning Tides. Many more that I can't remember too!

VenusClapTrap · 12/03/2021 17:23

My grandparents’ house was called The Moorings. I always thought that was quite nice; conjures up feelings of coming home to rest at the end of the day. Until my mother pointed out that there wasn’t a river/lake/sea for miles and miles around, as it was on a fairly steep hill several hours from the coast. Grin

VenusClapTrap · 12/03/2021 17:24

That house name generator is brilliant. It suggested ‘Sheep view’ or ‘Changeable Gates’ for ours.

LindaEllen · 12/03/2021 17:25

Another vote for Norman.

A friend of mine had a house called The Fynings (which has now changed) which I always liked!
