What do you want for mothers day?

Whether an actual gift or the gift of peace and quiet lol
I'm not one for gifts. I'm happy with a bunch of flowers.
A friend of mine expects and would be quite arsey about not getting what she wants. Her dc are of an age where her dh has to buy. She's got a huge list.
I then think I'm boring for just enjoying a nice bunch of flowers or something along with a lie in

This year I have ordered a box of cupcakes as my friend makes them. But tbh it's mainly just for an after dinner treat for all of us.

Do you have any special requests or wishes

I don’t really do Mother’s Day but I am having a weekend litter pick in a particular area with a lot of litter as part of my volunteer group, first time away from all the kids in a while. They are all quite young so hopefully a cuddle when they get back and a bar of chocolate.

MrsBerthaRochester · 08/03/2021 18:33

My youngest already gave me card and a pack of chocolates as he was too excited to wait. That made me cry. Exdh would not dream of getting something from kids for me as he is a horrible twat.
Will probably just get a takeaway and cajole kids into watching a movie.

Coffee in bed, polenta lemon syrup cake, a homemade card. I've made this known Grin

Just a cuddle will do me Smile

Keepthechangeyafilthyanimal1 · 08/03/2021 18:43

I’ve got a DS who is 16 and I haven’t received anything for a couple of years now Sad

I enjoy choosing gifts for my own mum though who always loves the thought so I focus on that Grin

scentedgeranium · 08/03/2021 18:48

Not to have to think about what to cook and not to have to wash up.
A text or call from my faraway son.
A dog walk with my daughter and DH
That's it!

ILoveAnOwl · 08/03/2021 18:48

I've got my mum a cheese hamper of delicious, gooey, beautiful, local cheese. This is because what I really want is a cheese hamper. I am 100% sure I will not get one!

JaquelineBeanstalk · 08/03/2021 18:53

My 2 are adults, so just something to show they care will be fine. Flowers or cards would be nice, but I’ll be happy with a phone call or Skype.

I’ve already sent a card and chocs to my mum, I will have try to persuade dh to do something for his, they had a bit of a fallout last year and I’m trying to build bridges.

Thefamilybusiness · 08/03/2021 18:54

A brew in bed in the morning
A card, don't mind shop bought or home made
Hugs

My dd(12) says she's cooking stir fry for tea so that will be nice!
Dh usually Bush chocolate or something, never goes amis.

4Mongrels · 08/03/2021 18:55

Flowers for all those that are without their Mum’s this year.

WhatHaveIFound · 08/03/2021 19:00

@Walkingthedog46

To see my daughter who lives overseas. It's been 14 months now since we were able to hug each other. Skype is ok, but not the same. Roll on international air travel!
I'm the same @Walkingthedog and my DD has only been overseas for 3 months. I hate the thought of not being able to give her a hug for another 6 months. I don't know how you're coping with 14+ months!
BakeOffRewatch · 08/03/2021 19:02

Sushi! I’d love a fancy meal but those days aren’t here yet.

goose1964 · 08/03/2021 19:05

I'd be happy with a card and a picture of my grandchildren.

WhoAreYah · 08/03/2021 19:06

A nice card.

EachBleachBlairTrump · 08/03/2021 19:07

A nice meal with DH & DS that I've not cooked and maybe a glass of wine in the evening. DH would've made sure I have a card and gift but that's not the important bit

PaintMePurple · 08/03/2021 19:13

A card (home made or shop bought) and a cup of tea and I’ll be more than happy 😊

GameSetMatch · 08/03/2021 19:15

I would simply like a new nighty, not an expensive one just a cheap M&S chemise. I don’t understand people that ask for lots or really expensive things it’s only mother’s day!

toolazytothinkofausername · 08/03/2021 19:24

I hope my Primary aged DC bring home a card they've made at school on Friday.

fairydustandpixies · 08/03/2021 19:26

A card from DS2. Or a text. But it won't happen 😪

crosstalk · 08/03/2021 19:27

Nothing. It's made up exploitative tosh. I'm glad to see or hear from DC every day they can but not because it's a day which appears to make people miserable if their DC don't come up with what DM wants.

WhiskyIrnBru · 08/03/2021 19:29

@Ocsetldil

Brexit to be cancelled and we rejoin the EU. And this government to rot in a dungeon of filth.
I second this! Grin
dementedma · 08/03/2021 19:29

No cooking. Something for the garden

BrowncoatWaffles · 08/03/2021 19:29

Home made Chelsea buns, a fleecy blanket and a nice cup of tea. If DH takes the kids out so I could enjoy the tea and bun while reading a book under the blanket I think I'd be giddy.

Another household here where I've not been in it alone for months and months.

NotExactlyHappyToHelp · 08/03/2021 19:29

I’ve sent DP the link to a Stackers mini jewellery box that was on offer and I’d really like. If I don’t specify I tend to get very expensive gin which is lovely but I only really drink when I go out so it’s a waste.

DP is working nights the weekend so I’ll be spending the day with DS. I’d like a cuppa made for me and to cwtch up watching a film on the sofa.

I’d love to hug my mum but that’s not happening for a while.

Flowers to anyone who’s having a difficult time and or missing someone.

ouchmyfeet · 08/03/2021 19:31

@Landlubber2019

My list:

Card
Cake (homemade)
Breakfast in bed
Peace and harmony in the household - no fighting or squabbling
Flowers (daffodil or something from supermarket)

This would be incredible. Never happened yet though. I'd settle for a card and bunch of daffs
