What do you want for mothers day?

Whether an actual gift or the gift of peace and quiet lol
I'm not one for gifts. I'm happy with a bunch of flowers.
A friend of mine expects and would be quite arsey about not getting what she wants. Her dc are of an age where her dh has to buy. She's got a huge list.
I then think I'm boring for just enjoying a nice bunch of flowers or something along with a lie in

This year I have ordered a box of cupcakes as my friend makes them. But tbh it's mainly just for an after dinner treat for all of us.

Do you have any special requests or wishes

A card

OverTheRainbow88 · 08/03/2021 19:31

A lay in and then a totally child free day!!! 🤣😱

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 08/03/2021 19:36

What I would give more than anything is to have my adult children allowed to come to my home. Food, drink, overnight stay.Sadly that is not to be just yet.

A box of red Lindor and a card made by the DC.

Potpourriandpennysweets · 08/03/2021 19:43

I'm a single parent, so if I get anything I will be over the moon.

RhubarbCustardy · 08/03/2021 19:45

I don't want a card or a present. I'm a bit of 'mum humbug' as think Mother's Day too commercialised. However, mine have been known to cook dinner when I've been in the middle of something else (offered not pushed) and I'd be happy to have that or the washing up done(no dishwasher here folks!). Happy Mothers Day to you all anyway in spite of what I said! ☺

Tangledtresses · 08/03/2021 19:47

A home made card from each of them would be enough for me 😀

HopingForOurRainbowBaby · 08/03/2021 19:48

My Baby. Sunday should have been my first Mother's Day

Piglet92 · 08/03/2021 19:50

A homemade card and a bunch of daffs is fine by me.

CosyAcorn · 08/03/2021 19:54

I'm so sorry @HopingForOurRainbowBaby. I hope you find some comfort or distraction on the day. Must be very hard.

I normally get a card from DD and DH cooks something nice. What I'd really love is to go shopping with my mum. I'd love to go browse bookshops and gift shops and have lunch in a little cafe somewhere.

Peace and no fighting between family members.
Having things suddenly back to normal and being able to see my family in person again instead of text message photos and Facebook .Much better than material stuff.

TheChosenTwo · 08/03/2021 19:59

This year I would like some chocolates to eat in bed while someone makes me a breakfast to eat (also in bed Grin I do change my sheets every Sunday so I sometimes have breakfast in bed then).
I’d like everyone else to then fuck off for the day and leave me in peace to read a book. A whole year with everyone together has meant little time for personal space or just quiet time and I miss it massively. However, there’s really nowhere to go so I imagine we’ll have a walk and come home for a roast Grin
My mum expects presents!! I’ll drop her some bits off on her doorstep at some point.

Igglepigglesgrubbyblanket · 08/03/2021 19:59

What I'd really like is to see my own mam, but she is too far away and I'm not legally allowed.
Second choice is the house to myself.
Third choice dinner & cake with no effort on my part.

MrsGEW1 · 08/03/2021 20:01

My mum back, she passed away four weeks ago! It'll be bittersweet as it's my first Mother's Day with my little boy.

kaleishorrid · 08/03/2021 21:53

@ILoveAnOwl

I've got my mum a cheese hamper of delicious, gooey, beautiful, local cheese. This is because what I really want is a cheese hamper. I am 100% sure I will not get one!
Any way that you could drop a hint? That's a lovely gift
kaleishorrid · 08/03/2021 21:56

@supersonicginandtonic

A lie in and a trip to the toilet in peace, would be nice. Also a bath on my own!

Forgot I posted this. Yep I love a homemade card too.

And would love a peaceful day. But by time we see my dm and mil the day will be gone.

I will be working a 12 hour shift so time for a tea break with some nice biscuits would be good😃

6079SmithW · 09/03/2021 01:43

@PickAChew your comment made me sad. I hope someone does remember 🤞🏼

I want to see my mum! It's been over a year and I miss her so much.

Also what @Ocsetldil said!!

laurac28 · 09/03/2021 01:48

would love to be able to vist my mum she lives hundreds of miles away

Seafog · 09/03/2021 01:50

I'm going big this year, I've asked for an 800.00 dollar kayak, totally willing to make it a splitsy with my birthday... we'll see what happens

AquaTorfana · 09/03/2021 02:26

A lie in and a massage.

Lovelydovey · 09/03/2021 02:30

A day without any drama from my DM. She’s already declared she can’t see us as DC are back at school so pose an infection risk to her (she’s has covid) so this could go either way at this point....

Mylittlesandwich · 09/03/2021 02:43

I'd love to be allowed to go and see my mum. We always have lunch together on Mother's Day but it's two on the trot now that we haven't been able to. This is my second Mother's Day and I'd like to be able to spend it all together.

In the real world I'd love DH to bring me some toast up to bed (which will inevitably be shared with 15 month old DS). DS to have his nap on me in the afternoon so I can have all the cuddles and watch a film and something nice for dinner. I think DH might have got me a new nightie but we're a bit skint so I kind of hope he hasn't?
